Service was very friendly. There is a Moroccan restaurant attached to the hotel. Free WiFi available with good reception throughout. Great view from the terrace balcony. Breakfast available, but did not try. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom very roomy, but wasn't too sure about the rustic floor when wet. Not really a problem, though and still liked the room a lot....

Loved hotel location and food! Lots of stairs but definitely worth it. Beautiful quiet little town to visit. Hotel and food best ever. Views magnificent. Two nights were enough to see everything and relax.

My partner and I had a fantastic stay at Califa. We had the room overlooking the square which was beautiful. The food is Moroccan/Moorish style and really high quality. We had supper and breakfast, all of which was stunning. The staff are extremely professional and very friendly.

Our third stay at this delightful individual hotel and it certainly won't be the last! The combination of wonderful spacious bedrooms set between corridors and stairways (you can get lost but that is half the fun!) and fabulous welcoming friendly staff has made this our most favourite of places to stay - and we are pretty picky! The rooms are...

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel La Casa Del Califa! The lady who checked us in, and was also there throughout our stay, was warm and welcoming. We stayed in the Africa suite, which was just a beautiful room with a large bathroom that had a double whirlpool bath, in addition to the shower. The bed and pillows...

The Califa was a gem of a find and a wonderfully eccentric hotel on so many levels. Set in the very heart of this pretty hilltop village, with similarities with Cacares, they have mutual Moorish past. The restaurant was lovely with a number of different areas to eat in and the food was excellent. The Califa is an ideal hotel...

A beautiful hotel in the mountains. It is only for people ready to climb many stairs with their bags. Nice terraces with wonderful view for sunset drinks. A handy parking lot at a reasonable price. 10 euros / day.

Old hotels are noisy! Soundproofing didn't exist in the tenth century and parts of this hotel dates back more than one thousand years. The hotel consists of several different ancient dwellings some dating from the period of Moorish rule, which lasted from 711 until the town was captured by Saint Ferdinand of Castile in 1248. "Excuse me, Mister, can we...

This hotel is physically charming, well maintained, has great views and is well located by a beautiful plaza. It has a good service staff. It is not all that comfortable however. Getting from A to Z inside the hotel is like walking up, down and sideways in a maze. The room we had, a junior suite, was economical but the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Casa del Califa is Vejer's No.1 hotel, which since its founding in 2001 has become a favourite place to stay in Andalucia for travellers and Spaniards alike. The Califa's origins date back to the 10th century, with the building sitting in the heart of Vejer in the palm filled Plaza de España. The historic hotel offers views across the marshes, forests, and hills of the Atlantic coast. The Califa offers a wide range of rooms, from simple doubles to luxurious suites, catering to guests of all tastes. The rooms are spread out among interwoven buildings linked by staircases and courtyards, with a characteristic Andalucian patio garden at its heart. The Califa is the ideal place from which to explore the Atlantic Costa de la Luz (the Coast of Light) & the 'Sierras' of Cádiz. The cultural and outdoor attractions are endless: walking, bike riding, trekking, birdwatching, painting, visiting Cape Trafalgar, seafaring Cádiz, long empty beaches, quiet palm-filled plazas, the sherry bodegas of Jerez, kitesurfing, horseback riding through pine forests, a day trip to Tangiers, sunset drinks on the hotel terrace, magical white towns...all this and more is a daily experience at La Casa del Califa. In our small and intimate hotel, you will find just the right balance of comfort and decor combined with wonderful views, tranquility, and of course excellent service. Convenient private covered parking is located just 80m. from the hotel. ... more   less
