Great location at the foot of the nursery slopes. Clean and warm. Equipped well for self catering as a couple, Excellent we love this place. Right in the centre of the village , close to ski-school and lifts, remarkably quiet and peaceful at night even though it is close to bars and restaurants. Ski hire next door too!

As a family of 4 with 2 young kids, getting onto the slopes involves lugging a lot of ski equipment around, the Adonis is perfectly situated right opposite the ESF school meeting place and lifts.
The hotel is new and clean and the staff friendly and helpful.
Our room this year was larger as we stayed for 8 nights and was more than sufficient for our needs.
We love the buffet breakfasts and have returned 3 years in February now for our winter ski trip.
We are considering coming back in the summer for a few nights as well.

No signs to say it is the hotel,unfinished-no outside lights, cigerette ends thrown everywhere masking tape around doors etc.no lampshades, half painted walls and no information packs or wi fi codes.Car park closed off by cones and tape.
"VERY RUDE" MANAGER WHO SMELLS LIKE HE HAS NOT HAD A SHOWER FOR A WEEK.
Do not rely on any information seen about this hotel including its distance from places on any internet booking site as to our cost we have found out they have lied about everything.
Beware-there no information packs in the rooms regarding what you would do in a fire-ie your route out and there is no management on site between 8pm and 8am.

The good
1. location is perfect - right across the road from lifts and ski school including piou piou (quite steep hill tho!). Intersport is next door and esf and ski lift offices are a minute walk. Quite a few restaurants close by too as well as boulangerie. Petit casino is a 5 min walk.

2. Some kids toys available in reception

3. Room was clean and warm. Water was hot but beware no shower curtain! Towels were good. Nice views over the valley (room 26)

4. We checked in around midday which was handy.

5. You can park in a private carpark at the back

The not so good
1. Price - When we checked in the lady charged us full price even tho there was a 20% discount due to family week. She explained that when we booked (via booking.com) the offer wasn't on but we didn't pay until the day of arrival so felt a bit cheated. It's quite pricey but then it's in a ski resort and was fully booked...

2. Limited kitchen equipment - no tea pot or cafatiere or cleaning equipment (sponge or tea towel etc)

3. No ski boots in hotel is a bit of a pain (but understandable) as ski lockers are downstairs

Booked on short notice on a tour with my convertible through the French Alpes and along the Côte D´Azur, my aim was to find good midrange room in the center of the village/city with a locked garage or parking area for my (valuable) car. The last was the hardest to evaluate on my daily search, therefore I highlight this point.
Adonis has no Garage, but a own parking area. As well the public parking space in front of the hotel is ok - at least it was at my time, which was in low season. The hotel itself is very basic as well as the breakfast. Normally I am looking for more, but for one night it was ok. From a value for money perspective it was good.
Remark:In low season it is hard to find a open restaurant in the evening.

This is really a ski apartment in a ski resort, which is probably leased on a weekly basis in winter. In summer, it goes on a daily basis and we paid a very reasonable price (60 euros ?) last August. It is quite comfortable with a kitchen and a very large bathroom.
Our room was on the ground floor facing the main street so no view, but I'm certain there are rooms with very nice views of this picturesque area.
The complex is well located near restaurants and stores. Parking is easy. Wi-fi was OK.

We were here for just one night. Pull out sofa works fine and we had a good nights sleep. Kitchen would be good for longer stays. Bathroom (smallest studio) is a little cramped. We paid 69€ for a night and for that price it is a good deal but for 200€ a night I would not consider this place. All in all the service is good and you feel welcome but the rooms could really use a renovation.

Hello, We thank you for your appreciation of our residence but the studio is never 200 euros and as you have not seen the largest apartments you can not judge the price. Our policy is always to be cheaper than our posted rates. Very cordially! Marie Chantriaux (responsable)

Okay, it's really a ski resort, but Valberg is trying really hard to attract summer visitors and I think they do pretty good. Valberg is a pleasant break from the 30 plus temps on the coast and the view from the Adonis and around are just stunning. Cross the road outside the front steps for a range of way marked walks, from a short stroll to a 5 hour hike. The apartment was very comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Beware the sound proofing if you're sharing with another couple - it will leave nothing to the imagination - but it didn't bother us.... The prices in summer are very reasonable. I would stay again without hesitation!

Positive: very central location, staff (although somewhat inexperienced - or was it just a language barrier - spoke little French, some English) obviously wanting to please.
Negative: where do I start...

We had a studio and although informed it may not be possible to have a proper bed, it was quite difficult to appreciate the fold-out sofa. Once open, could not move around the room and very uncomfortable. The kitchinette was fonctional but cutlery etc VERY limited. The bathroom was small but worst of all the tiny bathtub which really needs at least a shower curtain (water all the way into the living area every time we took a shower). The biggest inconvenience was that there was absolutely no closet, chest of drawers, or coat hangers.... Absolutely nothing; we had to leave all our clothes in our suitcases! For winter holidays (with parkas etc) a total hassle.

Others have stated but worthwhile repeating that the hotel is very badly indicated. We know Valberg very well and therefore had no problem. Someone arriving from elsewhere may certainly have a hard time finding the entrance.

Access to the ski lockers is not convenient at all which means everyone trapses through reception - using the one very slow elevator - with ski equipment to get to their lockers. Once in the locker-room, there are no benches making it very difficult to change. The lockers are very small (barely enough space to the ski equipment of one person!).

Although most people have breakfast in their apartments, it was nice to have the possibility of having breakfast in the dining room. However, the quality was poor. Typical French continental: coffee/tea, croissants, baguette, orange juice. It would have been nice to have a choice of bread (maybe some wholewheat?) and a basket of fresh fruit...
