We got a cheap last minute Tui holiday and had 10 nights here, checking in was pleasant and organised, we were given 325 which was at the rear of the hotel. A tidy room, typical Greek accommodation with fresh linen every couple of days. We didn't bother with air con as it was quite cool at night, the balcony was quite spacious with views toward the mountains and you could see the sea from the corner of the balcony, there was an old factory in view but the balcony had the sun right until dusk, perfect for evening drinks.
Relatively quiet at night after 10.30, we slept well on the twin beds, only noise was from guests talking in the corridor which echoed loudly and one Sunday night the music from the bar was quite loud (guessed it was the last night for some guests), a machine started up every morning at 7.30 and a nearby rooster joined in 😂.
As we were above the outside dining area for breakfast guests eating on the patio could be heard from around 8 am, but we were well awake by then.
Breakfast was typical Greek fare, very good with omelettes and mini hotdog sausage, with cake available also. Guests were asked to wear face masks and supplied gloves (when getting breakfast, some didn't bother when getting food & drink which sort of made a mockery of the situation but the breakfast staff were good and kept everything topped up-table covers weren't changed after each guests breakfast and gloves were sometimes left on tables, but no complaints otherwise.
We only used the pool once, we were out most days exploring the island by car, but the prices at the pool bar were reasonable with snacks available until 6. They needed more sun beds in my opinion as it was quite busy in the afternoon, some guests had to resort to sitting on chairs from the pool bar until a sun bed became available.
Reception staff were helpful, calling you a taxi for a trip into town and information. Bells was very helpful as was the gent with glasses (sorry didn't catch your name).
We couldn't extend our room stay on the day of departure but there are showers downstairs to use, our flight was late afternoon so we checked out at ten and went to Anti Samos beach for the day by taxi, quick tip keep your room towels for the showers as none are provided despite being told they would be, we had to use our beach towels instead.
No real complaints here, a clean and pleasant place to stay with a short walk to Sami town.
I had read a few negative reviews about Pericles Hotel before coming out, but glad to say none of them were relevant and we did enjoy our stay here and would come back again.
Hire a car and take the ferry over to Ithaca, €50 return and explore the island, there's a lot to see over there and some fantastic beaches 👍🏽

We had a wonderful time at Pericles hotel , it is basic but has everything you need ! Great access into Sami ( around 15 minute walk or €5 in a taxi)
The pool area is clean and well maintained with a great pool bar , but they are very strict on enforcing the rules of not bringing your own food and drink around to the pool area! I got told off for a sip of water from bottle I had in my bag , prices are reasonable at the bar tho- €2 large water €3 small beer € 3 coke, Fanta etc and €7 for a very well sized burger and fries.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom family room on the ground floor and although basic it was clean and had everything we needed with a well sized balcony that had the sun all afternoon (111) beware of the showers , they completely floss the bathroom if your not careful making the floor incredibly slippery.
Breakfast is slightly limited but of a high quality , ham ,cheese Greek yogurt, Frankfurt sausages , omelettes , mini croissants, cake , cereal plus plenty of honey, jam & juice. The coffee was horrific so remember to take your own to breakfast.
Sami is a beautiful place with many restaurants to choose from , our favourite was mermaids - beautiful food, lovely staff and excellent prices - we tried many restaurants but mermaids was our family favourite.
We also hired a boat from pirates rental on the harbour and had an amazing day out by ourselves discovering lots of beaches and coves.
Overall we had a wonderful time and are planning on returning next year

Well what an amazing holiday we've just had! its really is paradise. The hotel is perfectly fine, I had no faults at all, the staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. The rooms are cleaned daily and the one thing I loved was the smell of the fresh scented sheets & bath towels.
The staff are all very hard working to keep this hotel clean friendly fun and safe for us holiday makers.
beautiful views from all angles of the hotel, a short walking distance to the harbour, The quiet road outside the hotel is perfectly safe to walk down, me and my daughter walked many times and felt safe from the periodic traffic.
breakfast was perfect every morning with fresh ground coffee.
we also visited Antisamos beach for 15euro taxi one way from the hotel. There is a beach bar/restaurant called ACRON.
Its 20 euro to hire a luxury sun lounger for the day by the shore, great food and chilled music. Also outdoor showers and professional massage available.
Ive already booked my next holiday back at the pericles hotel, and I would give this hotel a 10/10.

We booked the Pericles in hopes the cost did not reflect the hotel itself. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience.

The bed sheets were left unchanged the whole week of the stay, our room was left unlocked by the maid & we had multiple run ins with staff due to mixed ‘policies’ which did not exist beforehand.

If you want air con you can pay daily, or at the end of your stay. (10 euros a day). We opted to pay daily as suggested by the receptionist (as some nights were cooler than others) which resulted in the staff entering our room when we were out for our evening meal to retrieve the remote, refilling through the draws to find it when it was not due back to them yet.

We also had a bad experience with the manager who had raised his voice to my husband about the air con, explaining we had to pay even though we explained the above situation

It was also seemed as though the staff were unhappy, throughout our stay, not one staff member greeted us, smiled or initiated any sort of communication. Even upon arrival it was all very cold.

I would also say if you like privacy, this is not the hotel for you. On the balcony/terrace, there is a divider on only one side. Meaning you are able to see the next balcony along very clearly with no privacy what so ever.

The pool area is one of the good points however needs updating as the pool stairs are squeaky/loose.

We luckily had a nice room but this was upon request as it was intended as our honeymoon. During our stay we encountered about 5 other people who were very disappointed with the hotel & voiced their concerns also and were not so lucky with their room.

The location is remote but within walking distance to Sami harbour (20 minute walk) where you can find a couple of restaurants, which are all very nice.

Overall I would not stay at perciles again & it has given me a bad impression of kefalonia and wish I had booked elsewhere, as I do not think I would be disappointed if I had done my research.

Just retuned from a week at the Pericles hotel. Not an experience we are likely to repeat!
Good points
The pool is lovely and in a very scenic position.
The lady on reception was very nice and extremely helpful
Bad points
Evening reception staff were far from the best and could be intimidating
Tiny bathrooms, had to sit with feet in shower tray to use toilet, Shower with curtain was so small it was impossible to use, had to throw curtain over rail and use as a wet room.
Bin next to toilet was only emptied every other day and as it was a no paper down toilet hotel the hygiene was well below expected levels.
Fridge the cost 35 euros to rent was about the size of a shoe box, not big enough to get our water in as well as our own stuff.
Very poor breakfast,
Undrinkable coffee.
Pool manager who was rude and abusive, not just to us but quite a number of other guests, barman under his instruction watched everyone like a hawk and was prone to looking in peoples personal possessions for contraband,
Make sure you take all you need with you down to the pool for the day, if you leave your sunbed to go back to your room for anything they will tell you to take all your possessions with you or they will remove them.
Maybe the fact that there are 80 rooms and only around 60 sunbeds creates this situation.
The road down to town is extremely dangerous on a night, with no footpath, we did witness one accident, luckily the damage was superficial and only on the cars and no-one was hurt!

When I travel abroad it is the sun, a good pool and walking distance to a beach that I want.

We booked with TUI and this was the cheapest on offer in Kefelonia, although I fear we booked to early (brexit scare) as many fellow guests paid less than us booking later.

The hotel is a bit out of town and on a busy road and does need a major overhaul, tennis courts, gardens and bathrooms could all be gorgeous. I found myself dreaming of all the wonderful things I would do if I owned it!

I made the mistake at the time of booking of switching from twin sea-view to a double which meant we lost the sea-view and were near the bar and carpark which meant poor quality of sleep.

The hotel offers basic meals which were great when you didn’t fancy the walk into town. Friendly bar well frequented by guests.

Would go again but would request a sea view.

Just got back from here yesterday. The hotel was very basic. But lovely and peaceful and very clean. I booked this as a last minute thru TUI. TUI website states that there is an international restaurant for lunch and tea but the only time it was open was for buffet breakfast. That was fine for me, as I like to get out and about and eat with the locals. The breakfast was fine too, it was free so can't complain. The pool bar was also fine, but over priced for what it was €3 for a can of pop, €5 for a creamy tuna salad, which was actually a plate of tuna mayo with some small diced cucumber mixed in and a single slice of tomato, with a side of bread and butter lol so basically a tuna mayo sarnie you make yourself.

The bar was very quiet on an evening and there wasn't any entertainment, again TUI says there is. This was honestly the most peaceful, quietest hotel I've ever stayed in!!

About a 10/15 minute walk down to the marina where there are plenty of traditional restaurants to choose from with reasonable prices. Faros was a favourite, the fresh sea food was amazing and so cheap compared to what you would pay in UK.

The pool was nice and clean, though I watched people going to claim beds as early as they could so if you want one set your alarm lol.

The beds were small but comfortable and the shades on the doors were perfect at keeping the room cool and the light out if you want to sleep in. The shower was tiny so if your over a size 10 I'd rethink or upgrade to a room with an actual bath or something, it was literally a small plastic tray, a curtain hanging on a plastic rail chained to the ceiling, I'm a UK 10 and couldn't turn in it without touching the curtain and flooding the bathroom.

The staff were all lovely and friendly, the place was very clean and it's a perfect base if you just want a bed and will be out most of the time as other than the pool there is nothing to do in the hotel.

Sami was a beautiful place and I'd definitely return, but the hotel could do with a little more atmosphere to make it a better experience than just somewhere to sleep.

My husband and I stayed for two weeks on a bed and breakfast basis. After reading some of the reviews I was slightly apprehensive but my fears were short lived. We were given a warm welcome. Our room was on the upper floor. The room itself was spacious enough for the two of us with plenty of storage space. I'd forgotten my hairdryer but borrowed one from reception with no problem.

The bathroom was small but functional. The shower was over the bath and there was always hot water.

Breakfast was basic but adequate for our needs. There was a bar/restaurant but we preferred to walk to the many waterfront tavernas. There was also a poolside bar which served snacks and drinks.

The pool area itself was very peaceful with plenty of comfortable loungers. The pool was clean and refreshing.

We hired a car for a week to explore the island and also took the ferry over to Ithaca.

The hotel suited our needs and was good value for money. We had not paid a 5* price so we were not expecting 5* luxury.

Shock No 1 is when checking in: 10.40 euros for tourist tax; 15 euros for safe; 5 euros a day for fridge, many euros for air conditioning.
Shock No 2 is when arriving after 18.00: there is nothing to eat or drink. The pool bar closes at 18.00, there is no 'international cuisine (in spite of what the Tui report says, there is not even a cup of tea as kettles cannot be hired. There is a bar which serves crisps. The nearest food is in Sami town 1.5k away along a badly lit road with steep drops along side and no pavement for 500m which is no good for first time visitors.
Shock No 3 is perhaps the biggest. The hotel has 90 bedrooms, average 2 persons each, which means approximately 180 guests. There are 50 sunbeds. It doesn't take a genius to realise that this is going to cause problems - and it did, big ones. When leaving for any reason such as a trip back to your room, to eat a quick snack, even staying too long in the pool, the pool manager demanded that the towels were removed. This obviously resulted in arguments, but we were told that was management rules - no copy of said rule could be produced. Additionally the pool manager was extremely rude, even belligerent. This leads to:
Shock No 4 On no account was any food not bought at the pool bar allowed to be eaten. The pool manager stalked around even looking at the colour of the tops of water bottles to check whether they had been bought from the pool bar, and, if not, they were not allowed to be consumed. Even a young girl's crisps were told to be put away. I was told 'Do not put that spoonful of yogurt into your mouth' in a very rude manner. At the same time the rules state that no glass is allowed by the pool and no alcohol but, guess what, beer and other alcoholic drinks were served all day in glasses. So much for the rules. Worth adding that there is no lifeguard.
Shock No 5 Entertainment: the Tui app clearly states that there are quiz nights, not since they removed the rep, about 7 years ago. In fact, despite several of us asking for a rep to call and sort out the above problems, the requests brought no response.

In closing, I would add that this is the fifth time we have been to the hotel. There has never been problems before, but the management and staff have changed since Covid. The way the pool manager spoke to guests and literally spied on them to make sure that they were not drinking 'foreign' water was unbelievable - in the UK he would have been sacked for addressing guests in such a way. I loved the hotel in the past, but it has taken an awful turn for the worse. I should say that I am 76 and my husband 82 and quite honestly we do not need this aggressive behaviour at our age, although he could be picking on us because of this.

We booked this holiday to the Pericles at a good price as a last minute deal, we knew the position of the hotel so know it is a good way from the main part of Sami.
Our check in was quick and informed our room was on 3rd floor, there is no lift and as we have heart conditions we asked if we could have a room on the ground floor and the staff were very accommodating and gave us room 221.

The Good Points:
Hotel is very clean, rooms were cleaned daily and towels replenished every other day.
Our room was basic but everything ok. We had a fridge ( at no extra charge) which was very useful. The bathroom was an experience with the shower curtain and very small shower with a powerful water flow!
The pool is lovely, with plenty of sun beds, there is a bar and you could order food all day, the food was very good and highly recommend the Greek salad! The bar staff were all very polite and made you feel very welcome.
Reception staff were very pleasant, particularly the lady ( sorry don’t know her name).
The bar opens at 6pm and closes promptly at midnight. Bar tender ‘Romeo’ very nice guy and we had many laughs with him!
Hotel in general is good, gardens very pretty, lovely area to sit and relax.
Breakfast was typical Greek, which is nothing more than I would expect, after all you are in Greece! The coffee was a tad strong, but resolved to my taste by having brought my own instant coffee!

Other points - nothing bad, just to give notice of what to expect!:
No hairdryer in rooms
No kettle or cups in rooms
Air con costs €10 per day
Safe costs €10 euros per week
No evening meals available at the hotel
No lift
Walk into Sami along the road can be dicey as there is no path, takes about 10 Minutes, or another route by turning right and right again takes you through country road which is very pleasant and takes 15 to 20 minutes and brings you other side of Sami ( there’s a lovely little bar on the corner as you get onto the front called Shine, we used to sit there and recover from the walk with a nice glass of wine and a beer!

All in all a nice hotel, would I stay here again, yes I would!
