Stayed here August 2019. Last minute booking through TUI. What a gem! Family of four (two teenagers in tow). We loved it. Relaxing feel around the hotel, large pool that was generally fairly quiet. Rooms were very basic but spotlessly clean and not long re-decorated. Only a gentle 15 minute stroll in to town via a quiet back road (if you take the main road it could be dangerous, particularly with young children). A taxi ride is €5 each way. I read the reviews about this place on Tripadvisor after I had booked it (not clever!) and was concerned in respect of the factory behind the hotel and the breakfast. I need not have worried. The factory is redundant - or at least no one was there during our stay - it's not as close as it may look, and I worried unnecessarily. Breakfast was great - Cereal, bread, baguette, toast, spinach & ricotta parcels, pain au chocolat, marble cake, jams, honey, fresh fruit, fruit juice, tea, excellent coffee (I admit I'm a coffee snob!), cheeses, cold meat, salad, hard boiled eggs, omelette, frankfurter sausages (hot). It was constantly being refreshed and was plentiful. I'm confused as to some people didn't enjoy it? what are these people having for breakfast every day?? WiFi was reasonably ok (kept the teenagers happy). Downside: €50 per room per week for air con (I think is a con!) €50 for a safety deposit box. Hmmm, I would rather they just added the price to the holiday - turning up and spending £200 at check-in feels a bit rough. Bar area was very brightly lit in the evening so didn't really use it. If it had more intimate lighting, would have definitely used it more. Staff overall very helpful, smiley and friendly - which always makes the difference between a good and poor place. TUI rep was a bit like a cold school headmistress, but warmed as the holiday went on. I asked about going to Zante and she was fairly unhelpful saying 'why are going there? - you are in Kefalonia' I don't expect judgement - just do your job and help your holidaymakers! Sami has a great mix of bars and restaurants; lovely and relaxing to walk round at night. Family atmosphere and no lager louts. We will definitely, definitely go back to Kefalonia, Sami and the Pericles Hotel.…
We went here in 2015 and it was lovely nice walk into town/ harbour or hire a scooter .. lovely beach about 15 min ride away .. lovely restaurants very friendly place would go back ..not fancy rooms but clean and tidy with friendly staff nice pool and snack bar ..
When I travel abroad it is the sun, a good pool and walking distance to a beach that I want. We booked with TUI and this was the cheapest on offer in Kefelonia, although I fear we booked to early (brexit scare) as many fellow guests paid less than us booking later. The hotel is a bit out of town and on a busy road and does need a major overhaul, tennis courts, gardens and bathrooms could all be gorgeous. I found myself dreaming of all the wonderful things I would do if I owned it! I made the mistake at the time of booking of switching from twin sea-view to a double which meant we lost the sea-view and were near the bar and carpark which meant poor quality of sleep. The hotel offers basic meals which were great when you didn’t fancy the walk into town. Friendly bar well frequented by guests. Would go again but would request a sea view.…
My husband and I stayed for two weeks on a bed and breakfast basis. After reading some of the reviews I was slightly apprehensive but my fears were short lived. We were given a warm welcome. Our room was on the upper floor. The room itself was spacious enough for the two of us with plenty of storage space. I'd forgotten my hairdryer but borrowed one from reception with no problem. The bathroom was small but functional. The shower was over the bath and there was always hot water. Breakfast was basic but adequate for our needs. There was a bar/restaurant but we preferred to walk to the many waterfront tavernas. There was also a poolside bar which served snacks and drinks. The pool area itself was very peaceful with plenty of comfortable loungers. The pool was clean and refreshing. We hired a car for a week to explore the island and also took the ferry over to Ithaca. The hotel suited our needs and was good value for money. We had not paid a 5* price so we were not expecting 5* luxury. …
