Simply one of the best places to stay on Crete. George and his team offer the warmest of welcomes to this hidden gem. Having made multiple visits here over the years the welcome back remains very special. Lavinia and Costas supported by Eva, Sophia and Co look after you on a daily basis be it at Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Meals are freshly prepared incl a daily special and are of very high quality. The breakfast ‘tray’ in a morning always has a variety of things to choose with different egg style each day.
We stayed in a Junior Suite this time which was spacious and good sized bathroom. They had been recently decorated and had great air con at no extra cost.
New guests are quickly made to feel at home and retuning guests (many year after year) are treated like family. They really do try and accommodate most requests.
The Blue Moon restaurant as it becomes for dinner is superb and the food is delicious (half board is a good option).
Koutouloufari centre is a 5min walk away with plenty of other tavernas, restaurants and gift shops to choose from though and the welcome you get is great..Just watch out for flying pizza dough a 1 place from above you!!
Such a great stay again and already booked for next year!

Creta Blue is just a fabulous place to stay. George and his small team make this such a restful retreat with a real attention to looking after guests. Nothing is too much trouble and you will be well looked after. My Family and I stayed for 16 nights in a Grand Suite which was cleaned daily, fresh towels provided with a great addition of pool towels provided as well. A small fridge is in your room as well.
The room is a great size with an additional smaller room with a sofa bed and fantastic views of Hersonissos and the sea.
What really tops off this boutique hotel is its restaurant. Breakfast is a relaxed affair with different items served daily, lunch is a good mix of light bites and bigger meals but dinner is the best part with daily specials, themed nights and an a la carte menu. There is also a fab wine selection and Lavinia is only too happy to help you choose. Costas looks after the bar in the late afternoon and evening and has been part of the team for many years. The gourmet evening they ran whilst we stayed was really superb.
The local village is just a short 4/5 min stroll away where a great selection of other places to eat and drink can be found serving local dishes etc.
All in all this is a superb place to have a really relaxing holiday and a good base to explore more of the island if you want to know you will come back to a very warm welcome. It is no wonder you will meet guests who come back year after year. I was lucky enough to catch up with people I made friends with 8/9 years earlier!
George, your team are a real asset to you and your family. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

I am a regular to the village of Koutouloufari and there is a reason I keep going back as it is one of my favorite places to visit. This year we decided that we would like to stay somewhere different to our usual accommodation and thank god we did as we were so impressed. We stayed in the Adult only luxury pool side suites. I have stayed in 5* hotels and many beautiful hotels but I think the Creta blue pool suites has to be one of the nicest accommodation I have stayed in to date. The rooms are stunning and spotless a double sink in the bathroom a rainshower and a beautiful bath with a tinted window looking out to the sea. We had a lovely terrace which was great to sit out and have a drink in the evening. The bed was so comfortable I thought I would never leave it in the mornings. The one an only negative is that there are no Irons in the rooms but saying this they were very accommodating and whenever we needed on we received it right away. We shared a communal pool with two other couples (fits 4 couples in total). The pool was amazing very comfortable sun beds pool towels provided. The breakfast in the hotel was very nice table service provided a continental breakfast. The location of the hotel was fantastic just above Marni village apartments at first I was a bit daunted thinking the hotel was up a big hill but in fact its not if you walk out of the hotel and walk down the road to the left you are only a 4 minute walk to Nikos the fisherman restaurant (center of the village of Koutouloufari). The staff were amazing I couldn't praise them enough all so sweet and always made an effort to speak to you and make sure you were happy with your stay.
We have already decided to return in May and I CAN'T WAIT! Thank you Creta Blue for an amazing stay.

Dear Marike, Thank you so much for your amazing review about our Luxury Pool Suites. It is true that these rooms were designed personally by me and our family from the experience and knowledge we have after being in the tourism industry and also by travelling abroad. Despite all these we are working continuously to improve both our services and our rooms and i am sure the next time you will visit us you will enjoy it even more. Regards Georgios Roussakis

We stayed here in September so it was a unique experience with the hotel being so quiet due to the worldwide situation.

It being quiet really suited us and we made the most of having the place entirely to ourselves.

We upgraded to a semi private pool suite of which there are 4 who share a beautiful area with an infinity type pool with a sea view and luxurious sun beds and by beds I mean beds. Being honest - I couldn’t afford this usually but as the place was empty the price was likely reduced. The room itself was faultless. Huge in size and extremely clean. The cleaning staff were always incredibly warm and friendly.

The main pool area is incredible. Another infinity pool with first class sea views.

Chances are you’re reading this review and are also looking at other properties. I’d stop that search and book here. The reason being that we got very very lucky in booking this hotel. The hotel is in Koutouloufari which is a classy, elegant and beautiful little town with a charming street with wonderful restaurants, shops and bars. It is small and peaceful. Although unsure if it’s always like this or we just got lucky with less tourists.

The reason I say we were lucky is we were looking at hotels in Hersonissos which is a ten minute walk away and having visited this area we are so thankful we didn’t book down there. It is well built up, crowded and although there are some lovely bars and restaurants there are also a lot of strip bars and loud clubs which wasn’t for us.

George and Star were lovely people who enhanced our stay no end.

We ate at the restaurant and it wasn’t the best but apart from that the place is faultless.

Thanks Creta Blue for making our first honeymoon perfect.

Dear mr Wood, Thank you ever so much for your wonderful review. We are also very lucky that we belong to the beautiful village of Koutouloufari and although that last year was less busy due to the Corona virus it s never that busy to destroy the tranquility and the charm of the village. I am also very happy that you enjoyed our luxury rooms with the semi private pool and we hope that the next time you visit our beautiful island you will choose us for your stay. Best Regards Georgios Roussakis Hotel manager

This was one of our most favorite experiences in our two week vacation in Greece. Our suite with hot tub was beautiful. The infinity pools were relaxing and scenic, The entire staff were all so very personable , engaging, helpful, and professional. The owner, George, and his wife are a delightful couple with two beautiful children. George was so very accommodating and his wife was exceptionally helpful in recommending the best wines to try at Creta Blue and other stops on our vacation in the Greek Isles. The bartenders, waitresses, and housekeeping staff were all so pleasant and talented. The breakfasts were very good as was the dinner we had one night. The walk down the hill to the little village is well worth the effort as there are some excellent local restaurants and shops to sample there. If my wife and I return to Greece in the near future, we will most certainly stay at Creta Blue again.

We had called here previously for a coffee last year whilst staying at the Marni Village. It's a beautiful set of apartments with a lovely pool in a quiet location overlooking Koutouloufari and the whole of the bay at Hersonissos.
The restaurant, which is situated by the poolside is elegant and modern with the most stunning views.
The menu is wide enough to give enough choice and the food is cooked to perfection. The wine list also offered a good selection.
It's rare that I order steak when eating out as I love my fish, but on this occasion I made an exception and ordered the Creta Blue steak. It was absolutely superb! My husband ordered Chicken stirfry sizzler type dish and demolished it. Neither of us have large appetites and usually leave some of our meal but not on this occasion! The Greek dry red wine was surprisingly good too. Service was excellent too, with lovely friendly staff.
The prices, although not the lowest around were reasonable and reflected the standard of food, service and ambience of the place. If you are looking for a romantic experience you will not be disappointed with the Creta Blue. It's the sort of place a girl might hope to receive a proposal in.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 1 week+ stay at Creta Blue. It really does offer exceptional value compared to other resorts and countries. Our room was the most basic they offer however was split over two floors and had ample space. Bed was a king size and extremely comfortable. Everything was immaculate and all the staff were very welcoming. We heard some noise coming through from the room next door in the bathroom area early mornings but did not disturb our sleep at night. The price included breakfast every day which was epic, cooked fresh and included pancakes, croissants, eggs, cheese, Greek yoghurt and much much more! One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had full stop which was a steal at that price! Pool area was the star of the show, epic views down to the sea and high quality loungers/pool beds etc. The hotel restaurant shares the same view. One downside for us was that two families with young babies checked in towards the end of our stay that were quite disruptive (eg at breakfast and dinner), however clearly that is not the fault of the hotel. It is such a peaceful location, crying out to be ‘adults only’. There is a bit of steep hill up to some of the rooms which is worth noting for those less able bodied. Look forward to returning again soon.

We spent a week at Creta Blu for our first holiday together and coincidentally our anniversary. The hotel is beautiful, in a fantastic location on top of a hill so it has stunning views over the town and out to sea. The staff at the hotel were nice. We have to give a special mention to Eva and Sofia in particular who were friendly and accommodating and nothing was ever too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was the same every day and there was coffee, teas, juices and water on offer, and then yoghurt, honey, bread, mini croissants, pancakes, eggs, fruit, cucumber, tomatoes and olives. Eggs rotated daily between fried, scrambled and omelette. We asked for a couple of extras on a few occasions which didn't seem to be a problem. We had a couple of lunches in the hotel restaurant which were of good quality, but what really stood out was the evening menu. We had the shrimp pasta and tuna steak and the tuna steak was the best I've ever had. It was more on the expensive side but we didn't begrudge spending the money as it was absolutely delicious. The pool area was great and has loads of sunbeds and some bigger chairs that we liked to refer to as "nests", and it was very peaceful for the most part.
We didn't know what to expect from the town but we were pleasantly surprised. There are so many lovely tavernas and restaurants, cosy bars and interesting shops and everyone was so friendly. Everywhere we ate in town was of very high quality and very reasonably priced that we'd come back to Koutouloufari again in a heartbeat. We ventured down to the beach one day and spent about 15 minutes walking the boardwalk but swiftly turned back as it wasn't for us.
Overall our week at Creta Blu was really lovely. However the reason we have only given 4 stars is because we had booked a grand suite with sea views and on our first night we were checked into the wrong room. Since we arrived at 23:30 there was no-one we could speak to about this until morning so our first night was spent in a room we hadn't booked or wanted. The problem was rectified the next morning with a member of staff called Lavinia but my partner had text George letting him know that it was a bad start to our holiday and he read the message and didn't reply. My partner had booked directly with the hotel and had conversed back and forth with George for weeks and not once did he come and introduce himself to her nor did he apologise for their mistake or even acknowledge it which we thought was peculiar and it did, unfortunately, leave a sour taste in our mouth for the remainder of our stay. Our flight home was very late so we didn't need to leave the hotel until 9pm and George did let us use the room for our entire last day, which we appreciated and it certainly made our last day more pleasant, but I still found the lack of any kind if acknowledgement for their mistake the first night very unusual. If it wasn't for that this review would be 5 stars but unfortunately it did somewhat stain what would have otherwise been the perfect week.

Dear Dourdamsel, Thank you for your recent stay in our hotel. I am really happy that you have enjoyed your stay with us and that you loved our pretty village that we belong too. It is true that the combination of the area and the hotel makes it a perfect combination for a relaxing stay especially in the beginning of October. Regarding the lack of communication from my side i can only apologise as i thought that the situation was rectified in the first evening that we exchange messages at 01:00 in the morning when you arrived in our hotel. Just to remind you that the first room you have had was indeed one of our Grand Suites with sea views which you were not happy so i have informed my staff and especially Lavinia and the next morning we did move you to a room that you really liked. I did not want top disturb you and you partner after this as i saw how much in love you are and honestly i admired you both. A rectified matter does not need to be reminded. Further than that i did offer you the room on the last day as you mentioned free of charge to make your stay even more comfortable. However if you felt that i had to come and find you disturb you and talk to you about that once again please accept my apologies. The most important thing is that you have enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again in the future.

My partner and I stayed at the beautiful Creta Blue for 5 nights and had a magical stay. Everything was perfect from the room to the restaurant, which we ate in every day half board. The room was spotlessly clean and staff were on hand to help you if you needed anything. Special mention to George, the owner, who is always around if you need anything and also who very kindly checked me into my room early on arrival day as I was alone and waiting for my partner to arrive from the airport.
The food in the restaurant was a very high standard, we ate there every day and didn’t feel the need to find any other restaurants. The wine was some of the best Greek wine, and wine in general, that we had tried and very reasonably priced for the quality.

The biggest mention has to go to Lavinia, who fronts the hotel restaurant and is also a fantastic sommelier. She instantly made us feel at home in the hotel and was brilliant throughout our stay.
I have already recommended the hotel to my family and they will be booking soon!

Thank you to George & the Team for a wonderful holiday!

After reading some negative reviews not many I add, I feel i must say something though not a guest on our recent holiday we dined at the Blue Moon restaurant on two occasions ,I can only say the staff and food were first class . We were so impressed we asked George if we could see a junior suite he was so obliging ,the room was fantastic with wonderful views so much so we booked for 2023. Has for those who have left negative reviews about how steep it is to access the rooms surely the photos alone you could see this . Maybe you could ask George to install cable car (joking). One chap said he is in his 30's a regular gym goer and he struggled ,well i am 64 never seen the inside of a gym and enjoy a smoke and never found it difficult i suggest the man in question joins another gym. Getting back to George and his parents they were great a lovely family. Me and my wife cant wait for our holiday next year. You only have to read the majority of reviews to see the hotel is 1st class

To be honest... We never ate in the restaurant.. We went out every evening and tried all the wonderful restaurants in the village and they averaged from 35 euros for 2 people to 100 euros depending what we ate and what wine we drank.. Absolutely lovely village.. So any restaurants to choose from.
