Staying in the former first home of Bhavnagar's royalty brought to mind a colonial mindset. The hotel is very affordable by western standards so much of the opulence like the courtyard fountains no longer operate. But walking the same steps as the king and staying in the same rooms as the family is pretty cool. The sitting areas are quite...

Attention to detail in maintenance and decor is very good. Much as the Marharini would have had. The grounds are filled with birds and the outside restaurant is beautiful at night. The service is good although English can occasionally be misunderstood. It's value for money and worth 2 nights to appreciate the style of old. I would return.

We went to the hotel for lunch... It's a beautiful palace.. though they don't encourage you to take pictures.. Food is good, we had non vegetarian food which was done very nicely. The only thing I didn't like was the table cloth, place mats were all soiled.. The glasses used to serve was of very basic quality, I mean if...

Good break from the big cities. You can hear only the birds chirp and the wind blowing through the tress and bougainvillea creepers. It's a well maintained mini palace. Rooms are large and airy. It's not a five or four star accommodation, its a chance to stay in a royal palace as if it were your own home. Staff is...

Extra ordinary experience. I had attended a marriage for four days in the hotel with out relatives. Nice on hospitality and service. Perfect for people wanting exposure of local culture. It is perfect for marriage functions.

When you drive up to this property, you will be truly impressed! The lawns are green and expansive, and the building itself is gorgeous. The room I stayed in was not in the main building, but in a small annex in the back. The room was spacious, however the amenities and fixings were quite outdated. In the restaurant, the food...

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The decor is pretty much as it was left by the royal family in the 80s and parts of it are in slight need of a revamp but, personally, I think this adds to the overall charm of the place. The ground floor, entrance and breakfast rooms are all enormous and very grand....

Some love this hotel but my room was so awful i am totally prejudiced against it. The room was cell shaped, furniture was chipped and fusty, the bed cover and curtains were nylon and nearly all the light bulbs were dead. At night light streamed into the room through the glass panels over the door, it was like sleeping under...

This former palace is now a rather nice hotel. Although the furniture in my room was old fashioned, it was comfortable and spacious. The reception area was very comfortable and ideal for relaxing. Some rooms were much larger, guess it's pot luck as to what you get. The menu is large and the food acceptable. It was delightful to be...

I have been there for food, and it was extravagant. Thereafter the service was also too good. They would attend to every possible request of ours. And last but not least would be ambiance, as you do not eat in a palace so frequent.
