Caught the 4.1 Vaporetto to Murano. Lots of furnaces and glass making shops. We went to Ristorante Hotel “Al Soffiador” for lunch on the outside patio. Every page of the menu stated they had a cover charge of 2,50 Euro per person. We shared a Capriccioso pizza and each had a glass of wine. When they came to collect they...

I do not like to just be negative about a Restaurant or a meal but it was very difficult to be positive about this meal. I know it was early lunchtime but even so the the Pizza was worse than most shop bought pizza in the UK and I cannot find anything positive to recommend about it. I do like...

Hotel is in Murano which is 20mins or so from Venice via water bus. Hotel itself is good, our room anyway had a really lovely view. Bed was far too comfy. Breakfast very nice. Stand out feature is the professionalism and customer service levels of staff. Our main focal point Elvio couldn't have been better. If i went back to...

Very nice well presented hotel. Good quality clean linen - excellent night's sleep. Had communicated with hotel prior to arrival to advise late check-in and an entry code was given with keys left on the desk - all worked perfectly. Elvio courteous and efficient in his communications. Breakfast very good with mouth-wateringly fresh bread and pastries.

This hotel was a lovely sanctuary from the busyness of central Venice. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself had a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is very close to the main Vaporetti stop (Murano Faro) so it's very easy to get around. There are also quite a few affordable waterside restaurants near the hotel for...

Set on a cobbled street on the island of Murano, this humble family-run hotel in 2 buildings is a minute's walk from the Murano Faro ferry terminal and a 9-minute walk from the Museum of Glass! The room was pretty small but I imagine that is what you should expect in Venice! We had a great stay here! The bed...

A little hotel, very close to the "Faro" ferry station in Murano. This might seem a reason to downgrade the affordability of the place, but in fact its probably easier to reach than a lot of places in the city of Venice, as line n°3 takes you straight to Murano in 20 minutes from the train station (from the airport...

We arrived to check in and the hotel was locked. We rang the bell and after several minutes, a woman opened the door but told us there was no elevator and we had very heavy luggage. The woman wanted to hold on to our passports for a day. We were uncomfortable and later asked if we could get them back....

Overall nice place to stay. The building is old and has therefore its flaws but also very special atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Our room on the ground floor was very spacious and also very well cleaned. Room had all little necessities expect hair-dryer. On the bad side, I found the bed a bit uncomfortable and the room was really cold...

We had a great stay here. The room was small, but the bed was good, and we only needed the room for sleeping. It was also clean. It was fun to live on Murano instead of the busy main island. Make sure to buy a day or two day ticket for the water bus, which stops right next to the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The unsophisticated and friendly Hotel al Soffiador is located on Murano, the famous Island of Glass, in the romantic and picturesque Venetian Lagoon. The hotel takes its name from the thousand year-old craft of glass blowing and the 'soffiador' that is the name given to the master craftsman who uses a long pipe to blow the glass to create his works of art. Murano's central location in the Lagoon and the regular round-the-clock public transport system allows visitors to reach not only Venice with ease, but also all of the Lagoon's other enchanting islands such as Burano, Torcello, Sant'Erasmo and the Lido. At the same time a stay on this small island, far from the busiest tourist thoroughfares, offers you the chance to savour a one-of-a-kind experience, a slower pace of life and an atmosphere of times gone by. ... more   less

“Rooms 1 and 2 are on 1st floor. Windows and large bathrooms. Rooms 3, 4 and 5 are on the second floor. Rooms 3 & 4 have windows and large bathrooms. Room 5 has a lovely balcony with a wonderful view and smallish bathroom. We stayed in Room 5 and were happy with our choice. Only problem...there are no lifts and we had to haul our luggage up two flights of steep stairs. Somewhat difficult for middle aged blokes like us!”

“Our room had a king size bed and a twin in the corner...seemed to be a common thing in Italy, though it wasn't advertised like that on the website. A nice surprise for us to lay our clothes out on, but good for people traveling with a kid to know!”
