Detailed Reviews
We stayed for a couple of nights whilst we revisited Maldon for a trip down memory Lane. On only our second stay away in the last 18months we were very happy with the accommodation and service provided by the friendly staff. Can highly recommend the White Horse and the scrambled eggs for breakfast. Maldon has lots to see and do, we particularly enjoyed a walk down the high street to the Quayside with its traditional barges and the wonderful riverside park which was the best set up we have seen for families. Parking was easy in the large public car park at rear of hotel £8.80 a day.

Wendy and John are the most lovely, welcoming hosts one could wish for. Our room size was very generous, it was also spotlessly clean and the bed was gloriously comfortable. The coffee machine was a delightful surprise! We ate there and the food was perfectly cooked, good portions and extremely good value for money. Breakfast set us up for the day. We were visiting for a funeral, so “creature comforts” were highly valued. Thanks - lovely to meet two people who so know how to run a pub!

We (4 of us) stayed here recently. The proprietors were most welcoming and friendly. It makes all the difference. The beds were extremely comfortable. The room comes equipped with everything you need from a coffee machine, shampoo and a hairdryer. The breakfast was great. Plenty to choose from off the menu and all freshly cooked. I would definitely stay again. The only thing I didn't like was the towels, they are very hard! Your skin is exfoliated after using them but this is only a minor detail.

A great base from which to explore the surrounding area around the Blackwater Estuary. The White Horse is on the High Street which is at the heart of the town, very busy but with plenty of shops and restaurants on hand. We stayed for 2 nights and booked room 2 which is light and spacious. It has a huge bedroom area and also a sitting area but also a very squeaky floor! Despite being on the main road, we found it to be well insulated and quiet at night. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are large and plentiful with no problem substituting anything. An ideal spot to stay as you can walk everywhere for shops and eateries.

We stayed at this fantastic Inn for two nights while attending a family occasion nearby. It was a good choice, all the staff we met were easy going and very friendly - nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel valued as guests. The breakfasts were amazing - everything freshly cooked and quite delicious, the scrambled eggs were to die for!
Our room was spotless and very comfortable, large bed, bathrobes and slippers, bottled water and excellent coffee making facilities.
Large public car park right behind the Inn was easily accessible.
Excellent value for money and would stay again anytime!

Stayed for our wedding anniversary. Very friendly and accommodating service. The owner John was very warm and welcoming. The food is really lovely and it's very cosy in the pub. It's not rowdy so very nice if you fancy a relaxed and chilled atmosphere. Music played in the pub is good and not blaring. The rooms are very homely but modern as well and it's very clean and well taken care of. There is a lovely outdoor area too and it's located in a great location. Definately give 5 stars!!! Thank you

My mum & i visited this pub for lunch & from the moment we walked in we was made to feel welcome by the landlord John, such a friendly welcoming place & a good choice of menu & good value. Nothing was too much trouble & the food was lovely all home made to order so next time we're visiting Maldon will most definitely be back. Thanks, Heather & Dot.

Booked table of four for Sunday lunch, restaurant was busy, plenty of staff. Some of the seating around tables were a bit low for dining, cushions were needed. The menu looked good for both food and drink. Orders taken, drinks and food served promptly.
The starters were excellent, the mains very tasty. The only thing about the mains were they were all the same apart from the choice of meat. Plus, all were covered with gravy; would have been better to serve gravy on the side, which would have made the dishes look better plus allow diners to choose how much gravy. Having said that, the meal was very good and we will certainly come again.
Booking recommended, we saw some walk-ins disappointed as the venue was full, and it’s also quite busy in the week.

Don’t confuse current owners with those on four in a bed show. This pub is very welcoming, food is very good. Prices are amazing I booked solo Sunday lunch, welcomed very warmly, fabulous lunch. Be sure to book as it is very popular. This is also a good hotel base for exploring the area, coastal path, Thames barge trips, oysters etc. John the host is pleased to see everyone, hates to turn people away, encourages you to come back. I’ve booked my next lunch already

Hotel booked in the morning for the evening for my son. An hour after attacks on the SNCF network prevented him from travelling to England. The hotel exceptionally refuses to refund the room even though I make a cancellation request immediately and therefore I did not penalize anyone for another booking. No commercial sense!

Hi July 14th is a Friday so you can park from 4pm for free. Then its free all weekend.
Unfortunately we do not have a car park. There is pay and display Car park directly behind us. Depending when you visit, there is a school less than 100yards away that offers free parking on a weekend.
Hope this helps
