Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is absolutely lovely. Staff are awsome. Breakfast is very nice. Would definitely stay here again. Very accommodating. 10 out if 10 from me. Situated right in the lovely little town centre of Malden. Well worth a visit.

The staff were lovely - welcoming and helpful. The bar area was very tastefully decorated and maintained well. There was a choice of an outside dining area as well. The menu was not run of the mill pub food and provided enough choice - the food was delicious and more than enough!

Stayed here when I went to visit family in Maldon. The bar is fantastic with lots of beer choice and even has a deli counter. The rooms are cosy and modern and the breakfast was too drawer. There was also a live singer/ guitarist on in the evening on the Friday I was there. I had food at the bar one of the nights and highly recommend the tomahawk steak Will definitely be revisiting Thanks

In May we came for Sunday roast it was absolutely amazing tasty delicious. So we booked again for this Sunday. Couldn’t have been more different. Food not great gravy not homemade like before beef was like was out of a microwave bag. No one really enjoyed their meal I’m sad to say. Asked for a coke gave large wasn’t till the bill came realised was £5. Such a shame as was so lovely last time. Also wasn’t busy like before. Went to the ladies loo was a disgrace dirty toilet seat broken and hanging off. Please take comments on board as you have a wonderful pub there. Like I said I couldn’t fault our meal in May.

A great base from which to explore the surrounding area around the Blackwater Estuary. The White Horse is on the High Street which is at the heart of the town, very busy but with plenty of shops and restaurants on hand. We stayed for 2 nights and booked room 2 which is light and spacious. It has a huge bedroom area and also a sitting area but also a very squeaky floor! Despite being on the main road, we found it to be well insulated and quiet at night. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are large and plentiful with no problem substituting anything. An ideal spot to stay as you can walk everywhere for shops and eateries.

Stayed here recently and had the best time ever! Beautiful rooms and very comfy beds. Lovely full English breakfasts and endless amounts of tea/coffee and fresh juices. Also was here for the live music on the Friday which was brilliant.

Visited over the weekend with family for a drink and a meal. Nice atmosphere in the pub which was very clean and modern in appearance. Good and varied menu with daily specials. No complaints with the food which was well presented and tasty. The only downside to the visit was to me the price of the drinks. I personally thought £23 for 1 pint of Neck OIl beer and a medium sized white wine and a medium sized red wine was a little on the expensive side. Other than that a very enjoyable evening.

The 4/5 star rating is for one reason only = the management team was unable to provide me a correct invoice. The White Horse has a hard working staff, awesome food, great drinks and a spectacular breakfast... but an apparent inability to add my address to the invoice. Sad. But it's a critical shortcoming...

Booked table of four for Sunday lunch, restaurant was busy, plenty of staff. Some of the seating around tables were a bit low for dining, cushions were needed. The menu looked good for both food and drink. Orders taken, drinks and food served promptly. The starters were excellent, the mains very tasty. The only thing about the mains were they were all the same apart from the choice of meat. Plus, all were covered with gravy; would have been better to serve gravy on the side, which would have made the dishes look better plus allow diners to choose how much gravy. Having said that, the meal was very good and we will certainly come again. Booking recommended, we saw some walk-ins disappointed as the venue was full, and it’s also quite busy in the week.

Haggis and Mac cheese were superb! We shared . Service was brilliant nothing forced just natural. 2 young lads were great!! Will recommend and come again. Need a few lighter bites on menu. Was a man’s menu fie the winter . I’m not a big eater so a better selection would be great . Loved the place!
