The islands accommodation and facilities are basic and in parts very tired but the staff keep the place immaculately clean from the rooms to the sand paths being swept of leaves. The rooms themselves are a good size, simple furnishings with the showers and sliding doors onto the balcony looking like they are from the 1970s, but don’t be put off as it’s all very functional and the air-conditioning effective which is all you really need if you are out all day, in our case snorkelling on their house reef but others sunbathing on the beach (no pool) or diving with their dive school.

However what really made us warm to the island was the staff, the service is absolutely excellent, especially in the bar and restaurant where the staff would easily be a match for many a 5 star. The restaurant does feel a bit like a canteen but with that you get a very wide choice of International and Asian food to suit all tastes, with food that is always very fresh. Standard large buffet breakfasts with an excellent ‘egg man’ and especially good daily made breads and pastries with hot drinks served at the tables by the waiters. Lunch and dinner comprised large salad bars, hot dishes (usually vegetarian pasta, meat/chicken/fish option, potatoes plus curries and rices) and very extensive daily dessert buffets with different extra cooking stations including an evening outside BBQ. Everything was kept topped up all the time by the superb front of house chefs who were always happy to explain dishes so you could find something you would like. A very convivial bar area, with undercover and outside seating, open all day with very attentive bar staff serving the tables. The main beach area and sun-loungers which are on the west side of the small island did get busy but it was usually easy to find some seclusion on the windier east side for a change and both have plenty of shade options due the the islands lush vegetation.

If you are looking at the Maldives for a luxury solitude experience you really won’t like it here but if your priority is some amazing snorkelling on a house reef just off the beach, then I think this island is very hard to beat. Snorkelling in the Maldives we have found to be far better than elsewhere in the world, removing the need to dive to see amazing marine life, that said on this island you can even see lots of small reef sharks by just walking along the beach or jetty. This is such a good value all-inclusive option that probably gives 80% of a Maldives experience for 30% of the cost, so we will definitely be considering coming back again as many of the others we have met here already have been doing for many years to this very friendly island.

This is probably the longest review I have ever written but that said it’s hard to choose between all the Maldives resorts and I found reading others reviews of here really useful and accurate, we just then all have different views on what we like.

We spent twelve nights here in November 2019. The hotel and rooms are basic but boy the staff, service and cleanliness is superb. We absolute loved our stay and did not want to leave. The rooms are basic but our lovely room boy cleaned them twice a day and left the most beautiful flower arrangements on our bed, especially on my husbands birthday. The food was really good! Despite being a 3 star hotel everything we had was delicious. We could always find something nice to eat and all of the staff in the restaurant were lovely and friendly. The man that makes the chapatis has the biggest smile, the egg man is lovely and friendly and the man that kindly chopped me a plate of fresh fruit was so kind and helpful. You get assigned a table and a waiter that you keep for the whole holiday......our waiter was superb! He quickly remembered what we drank at each meal, was chatty and smiley and decorated our table on our last night. Bino, the restaurant manager (sorry the only name I can remember) was the best i have ever come across. It was my husbands birthday whilst we were there and I booked a meal on the beach. Bino made sure we had the most fantastic experiences and looksd after us so well. The island is beautiful and the beach is paradise. We snorkelled with sharks, clown fish and turtles amongst lots of other sea life. Lastly, we booked our holiday though Travel Counsellor who was superb but we had some issues checking to come home and Faye, Kuoni rep on the island was really helpful. We loved Biyadhoo Island Resort and would definitely return.

Biyadhoo Island is a slice of paradise in the South Male Atoll . It's a 40 minutes ride by speed boat from the International Airport . The boat ride over the mesmerizing waters is an amazing experience and we were lucky to spot a couple of very large dolphins enjoying a play date !!!
The Biyadhoo Island resort is a little gem . The natural beauty , the different shades of the predominantly turquoise water, the pristine white sandy beaches, the most enchanting coral reef resplendent with a variety of amazing marine life, the dense forest , the quaint Coco bar , the squeaky clean meandering pathways make life on this magical island truly idyllic.
However, the resort is quite basic and the rooms and amenities could do with some refurbishing and a makeover . The staff at the reception could be a little more forthcoming and help first time visitors to find their feet . We had to constantly ask various questions about the activities available on the island, the events if any , to look forward to etc . Also since the water sports is out sourced the reception could not guide us well . So we had to trek to the water sports centre to try and figure out what was available . We found this quite irksome as there was no one to guide us at all. We were pretty much on our own and by the time we could figure out everything it was time for us to leave ! So I would recommend a little more of interaction with the guests, handing out a leaflet containing a list of amenities and activities and some basic house rules .
Having said that we were quite impressed by the way our departure was taken care of . It was seamless despite the mandatory Covid test that we had to get done 72 hours prior to our departure . Our bills were cleared on time, our Speed boat was ready and our luggage was collected and stored on board very efficiently .
Must make a mention of the guys who served us gourmet food at the cafeteria and exotic cocktails at the bar . They were very helpful and cheerful . It was always service with a winsome smile !!
Will definitely visit again !!

Now do not get any ideas that this is a 5* island with water villas, slides and butler service and you won't be disappointed!
Biyadhoo is a simple, basic island with the same sand and ocean as those 5* resorts. The accomodation is very dated but clean and the sea is a few footsteps away and what an amazing sea it is.
There is a restaurant and bar and that's as much entertainment you will get......perfectly quiet and peaceful. All the staff are most helpful and obliging from the room boys to gardeners, reception to bar staff and waiters in the restaurant.
You will be allocated a table and waiter at the restaurant and will keep that table for your stay. We had the wonderful Jobe, a lovely man who was most helpful and a credit to the whole team.
The sand, especially in front of the bar area is like talcum powder, so soft and the sea clear and warm. The snorkelling was good with plenty of fish and turtles, they would come close to the shore to feed on the sea grass. We planted tress while we were there, it felt that we had ownership of that little pice of paradise.
There was a big pow wow of managers while we were there and rumours that they are going to rebuild it. I hope they do not spoil its charm and turn it into an island that will be financially out of reach for many people.
We have booked to come back in december , we are hooked!!
Thankyou to everyone who made our stay very special.

February 2020 was my fourth stay at Biyadhoo. The last one was ten years ago. For all guests who have visited Biyadhoo in between, the island hasn‘t changed much with all pros and cons.

The pros:
• Biyadhoo is an awesome and beautiful island that is ideal for relaxing.
• Biyadhoo is a very green island.
• All beaches especially those at the western side are still nearly as white as snow.
• Fortunately, the number of guests is limited (giving privacy).
• The most important point: All staff members are very friendly and helpful.
• The meals are very good.
• Everything including rooms is kept very clean.
• The house reef is great. It seems that more fishes, turtles, and even corals (see also „the cons“) are there than 10 years ago.
• You can walk barefoot everywhere (except in the restaurant) and the dress code in the restaurant is quite casual.

The cons:
• Most corals of the house reef have been destroyed due to coral bleaching before 2008.
• The rooms are old. They were old 10 years ago and it‘s still the same furniture and interior.
• If you are looking for big comfort or luxury at your room, you will not find it.
• The most negative point: Every day a lot of snorklers from other islands visit the house reef. Especially at the western side of the island there is a lot of traffic (up to ten boats at the same time). It is not the quite place it has been 10 years ago, anymore. It is more like a harbor. A lot of these guests stand inside the reef and the boats are sometimes fixed in the reef using ancors. To me it is looking like they will, after coral bleaching, destroy Biyadhoo’s house reef, further.

Biaydhoo is a treasure that is worth to be protected from being destroyed by mass tourism. As long as Biyadhoo is as beautiful as it is and people are as friendly as they are, I will always try to get back to Biyadhoo.

Myself and a friend stayed here for 8 days all inclusive. We arrived by speedboat, after a long journey to get there. We were given room 71 this is on the west side ground floor (best side) and opens out straight onto the beautiful beach.
We had a massage in the spa best I’ve ever had the 2 ladies there know their stuff!!!
The Resturant is excellent good selection of different dishes to choose from, both for lunch snd dinner. Ali looked after us the whole stay, he’s a true gent as are all the staff, so happy and smiling, and nothing is too much trouble.
The bar is just outside the Resturant drinks good but not the cocktails I’m afraid. My favourite is piña colada but it was nothing like one, was plain and seemed watery.
The on-site shop is opp we went in to purchase 2 mugs, but declined when told the price $42!!
Beach is gorgeous we swam right where the turtles are, up in the what they call the grass area, near the 2 swings over the sea.
the sunset fishing trip wasn’t all that, a couple of people caught tiddlers.
we wanted to do the dolphin trip but had to be a min of 6 and only 4 people wanted to do this for the whole time we were there.
We snorkelled all the time and sunbathed. Be careful we stupidly sat in the sun after having the massage, put 30 factor cream on and burnt! 🥲 we forgot to shower the oil off first.
All in all a fantastic time was had, so if you like laying doing nothing or snorkelling or both then go to the Maldives. This resort is only a 3 * but you won’t be disappointed it’s one of the best!
One last thing if you go all inclusive, this ends at 12 noon on your departure day, so be prepared to pay for if your not leaving until later in the day. You can pay approx $60 to keep your room until you leave though.

We found the island to be exactly as described, great service, friendly and welcoming staff which mostly makes up for the dated rooms. If you want 5 star food and rooms this is not for you. We enjoyed the island with exceptional beaches, snorkeling and relaxation.
The spa massage service is excellent, with highly qualified staff.
We took yoga mats for the sun loungers, as we read that no soft covers were supplied, very uncomfortable if your a sun worshipper and want to spend all day enjoying the sun and sea. No umbrellas either. Wish they just charged a small hire fee, which we would have paid. It also encourages the leaving of towels early in the morning on sun beds to reserve shady locations, which are limited. Final tip, if you're travelling from London and you can afford it, fly direct, we didn't and stopped at Muscat and Colombo, it was exhausting.

We have just returned from the island, which we visited before, because it offers a truly Maldivian experience in term of cuisine, environment and warm hospitality. The accommodation is basic but clean, and all the staff are geared to help you make the most of your time in this tropical paradise island. Great for divers, snorkelers and sun lovers. Superb Asian dishes are served in the restaurant, with massive gala dinners for Christmas and New Year.

We have enjoyed our time on this island. All the staff are really helpful and have arranged a memorable candle light dinner on the beach also they have updated us with the options we can choose. The beach is clean, comforting and really enjoyable. The sunset at the beach is really breathtaking and mesmerizing in all aspects. Rooms are little bit outdated, would be great if room fresher can be used and jet shower option would be given. However, the room was clean and room service was good too. At last thank you for honeymoon special surprise.

Bearing in mind this is one of the cheapest resorts in the Maldives, it is also in my view (and that if many others who stayed there during our time) the best of the rest. The accommodation is pretty basic, but well appointed, comfortable bed/bedding and always beautifully clean. Our own house boy Ariff ensures that, as he pops in regularly when we leave it to sweep and bring it back up to standard. He is also very accomplished in ‘towel art’ surprising us every night with more and more elaborate designs on our bed. The food was buffet, but always really tasty with plenty of meat and fish. Our waiter Labbid was always cheerful and friendly and always asking if there was anything we would like the chefs to prepare for us over and above the buffet. The other chefs who were in the dining area showing everyone what was on offer were utterly delightful and we made great friends with them all. The chef in charge of the egg station at breakfast, Shafic, also made some of the soups which were absolutely delicious, especially his broccoli one for which he gave me the recipe. He made a special lentil soup just for myself and my husband and was just so thrilled to do it for us. Jahid was always delighted to welcome us and made some delicious sweets and biscuits. My secret favourite however was Shohel who had the best and brightest smile. He only made the Chapatis, which became a running joke throughout the week. He had a very funny self depreciating sense of humour as he would sadly shake his heads and every day assure me that he really had only made the chapatis. The island has lost its beaches on one side from the last time we stayed, so that everyone used the one beach, so you didn’t feel as secluded, but it didn’t spoil anything. The reef was fabulous and contrary to what some people have said, does still have live coral, and I have video to prove it. In fact I believe it is one of the only reefs in the Maldives still to have live coral. Judging by the number of boats that came every day from other Atolls I think that must be true.
Biyadhoo is a small intimate resort. The one bar has the best service you will find in all of the Maldives (according to many seasoned Maldives travellers we spoke to) and indeed was more like a house party than a hotel bar...but again I think that was down to the fabulous staff (Ziad was very much our favourite). So all in all, a brilliant place to visit, no fancy four poster beds with lavish netting, or water bungalows, but very affordable, comfortable, clean and laid back. It’s the only place in the Maldives we would go to for all the reasons I’ve highlighted. The guys who work so hard to look after you succeed 100% and add very much to the overall experience.

Sorry for the VERY out of date reply. Had a few family issues over the last year, kind of dropped off TripAdvisor. Hope you managed to get to Biyadhoo and enjoyed it as much as we did. Apologies once again. Paul.
