Safari Island is a blissful get away from it all oasis. We spent ten nights on an AI basis in an over water bungalow for our 30th wedding anniversary and had an amazing time. We arrived via sea plane which is exciting and the views you get en route are spectacular. Our bungalow was big, well appointed and very clean with plenty of towels and toiletries. We looked over the bay which had gorgeous sunset views and we enjoyed watching the sea planes coming in and out. The food is exceptional and plentiful with a variety of dishes and show cooking. We enjoyed fresh tuna, sushi and local delicacies galore! There’s a good selection of cocktails available at the three bars and the service is excellent.
We loved having dinner on the beach for our anniversary which is highly recommended.
The beaches are picture perfect and swimming in the sea is so relaxing. The snorkelling along the coral is not to be missed - we saw stingrays, beautiful fish and sharks in various sizes. We also enjoyed the sunset cruise but the dolphins didn’t make an appearance. While Safari Island isn’t the most luxurious resort we’ve been to it is breathtakingly beautiful and the staff really made the holiday for us. Special mentions go to our waiter Hassan and the show cooking guys and the bar staff Thushara and Sanjaya - thank you! If you want to unplug, relax and be surrounded by stunning beaches, crystal clear sea and beautiful scenery this is the place to be! 5*****

Couple in our thirties. WaterBungalow 181 end of July 2021.

The negativs first, to end on a positive note:

The footwashing bowles are of no pratical use. Please put big bowles to put the whole foot in.
Remove the water roses ponds, nobody is looking at them, they are a waste of space, water, energy and man power. And worst of all they are a breeding ground for bloodsucking insects. So absolutely no use at all. Tourists are not interested in looking at those,
Wifiis abysmal. There is simply no working wifi. It reminds me of standarts of 1999. this could be easily fixed by putting 3 more signal masts out.

But dont get me wrong. I gave the resort a perfect evaluation. They are currently fixing the constructions. So keep doing that, and it will be in perfect condition in no time. The wooden ways dont feel unsafe. The plants and trees are well kept. Beaches are clean. Facilities are clean too. Our bungalow is swept twice a day. So no sand inside.

Second, service is friendly, always helpful, and no waiting times. Enough bars.

Third, Dive center is friendly and offers activities. Found other people willing to participate in fun beach volleyball games every evening.

Fourth, they fumigate every evening.

Finally !the best, the food is fantastic. Buffet is served by personal behind the buffet, so nothing is spilled or chaotic.

We spend two weeks in this resort booked all inclusive and two beach villas (124/123) on the reef side. The resort is quite worn down mainly the jetties, we had very bad experience with sand flies and could not really stay on the beach/sunbeds. Instead we soend more time in the rooms or snorkelling/diving. I would like to thank the staff in the restaurant and in the bars mainly sunset bar. Mr Ahubar was very nicely looking after us. the restaurant has a very good selection and variety of food and you would not taste that its all inclusive. On the flip side the reception staff was never competent to provide answers or handle requests spot on, they always refered to management who is competent.

The resort is burning trash among other stuff almost every day during daytime which you can smell and it was annoying. I did not see PVE panels using solar energy or even a small biogas station that would generate electricity.
Every drink comes from a small plastic bottle 0.3l (water, soft drinks, juices are from tetra pack) and there is little or none “green” initiative going on. this is a big difference compared to other hotels in Maldives. The resort is quite cheap compared to the others in their class in Maldives, but I would be prepared to pay extra more if they would separete waste, give water in glass bottles, would stop throwing food rests into the ocean (and feed the fishes) and either recycle or trnasfer to another island.

the reef is nice, but quite short however for those who like diving the Joy dive diving base has a very friendly and orofessional staff who like their job and can take you to various sites both diving and snorkelling

Really nice resort with amazing food and even more amazing personnel. They are polite and positive all the time, ready to help you with anything you need. The cleaning service was top. We felt like everytime we left the room, there was a person who cleaned the rum directly. The atmosphere at the bar was cozy and the cocktails were delicious. The food was really good too. We had a lot of different dishes to choose from and there was always one or two stations preparing dishes ( like pasta, toast, omelets etc. ) on the spot. During our stay I had my birthday too and they made amazing preparations at dinner and even in our rum. We had the all inclusive package which came with a snorkeling trip free of charge. Last but not least the spa personnel were nice, positive and most importantly great at giving massages, totally worth it!

So this trip was for my birthday and was booked a year before we actually went. So several long hours on 2 planes and we arrived at Male before being transferred to sea plane port, then 20 min flight by sea plane to Safari Island. We were greater by staff with a very welcome chilled flannel and cold fruit juice. After checking in we made our way to our beachfront bungalow. What a beautiful large room and an even better view straight out to the Indian ocean. A couple of hours sleep and then our time began on the island. We started at dinner and I must say the food was amazing, so much choice and all delicious. We spent our time on the island relaxing and sunbathing. I dive and there is a dive centre on the island with very knowledgeable staff and instructors. Charley, Leon and Daz are the resident dive masters and I had the pleasure to dive with two of them. If diving is not for you then you can borrow snorkeling equipment free of charge from reception, the house reef is great and there are many species of fish to view. We chartered a boat which took us south overnight and got the opportunity to swim with Manta rays. The trip it self was quite expensive but you have a boat to yourself and a crew of 3 who tend to your needs. All in all a once in a lifetime holiday highly recommend going if ever you get the chance.

We have recently came back from Safari Island Resort where we spent 10 nights “all inclusive” from 3rd December.
I have to admit, it was Dream Come True holiday. We have had fantastic, peaceful time. Island is beautiful. Tall coconut palms and juicy green plants, white sand and clear, shiny, emerald water full of beautiful colourful fishes and sharks ( harmless). Paradise.
We have stayed in water bungalow which was the only option when we have done our booking and wouldn’t regret a bit. Bungalow needs a bit of TLC but if you are going on holiday to relax under sunny sky, walking on white sand, do some snorkeling or just lie on the sun deck listening of the noise of waves…you would not care less about few cracks on the wall.
Restaurant prepares fantastic food ( many different choices of meats, salads and cakes; on Sunday’s delicious traditional food dinner) and the service is splendid. Chef’s serving food smiling throughout their face masks.
Our waiter Hussain was amazing company to talk to yet very professional and polite. All restaurant and bar’s staff was very polite, attentive and helpful.
Bar waiters always make sure you have your glass full.
Receptionist Hansika was always on the top of any query we had, very professional and patient so was Jithu.
We fall in love with all of them throughout their kindness and these happy eyes.
So…what else you want in peaceful, very private ( despite of resort being fully booked, feels like it is inhabited island; only during meal time you see more of other guests), relaxing holiday if not blue sky, full plate and bit of privacy.
We went there to rest, not to do the list of what needs improvement.
We have never experienced any mosquitoes as some of the reviews stated but cockroaches yes. Few in the bungalow. But we were in tropics so what to expect…

We would definitely recommend this place to everyone and hopefully visit it again soon.

First visit to the Maldives and I had tears in my eyes at how beautiful it was when we landed on the island!

Transfer from Male by Seaplane and the new state of the art terminal was something on our bucket list, very exhilarating.

We stayed in an over water bungalow and the views of the turquoise lagoon were breathtaking! The room was spacious and clean and thanks to Ali for this. Steps lead down to the lagoon where we snorkelled and saw a huge variety of fish without having to snorkel too far, although going to the edge of the lagoon you saw more and bigger fish. My husband found the snorkelling very good but not being a very strong swimmer I found the current further away a little challenging.

All the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The three bars were welcoming and accommodating with wonderful cocktails and sunset views. Special mention to Tamil, Abelmeer, Rias, Sanjay and Rifford for their friendly, attentive service.

The food was excellent for an all inclusive deal. The staff made every effort to provide a very varied and extensive menu each day at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food was very well presented with a view overlooking the fish and sharks. Chilled out atmosphere. We were looked after at every meal impeccably by the lovely Abdul.

The reception team were very efficient and helpful, with a special mention to Afrah who always greeted us with a beaming smile. Lots of different tours are available and we decided to do the private all day boat trip where you get to choose what you would like to do. The captain and crew worked incredibly hard to provide a wonderful experience, thank you to Captain Samar, Waleed and Mihusan.

All the guests were extremely friendly whichever nationality you met.

The whole resort was very well kept, very tranquil and we were able to totally chill for the entire ten days. Very upset when we had to leave. Would recommend for anyone who wants a laid back resort, occasional planned nightlife with a focus on the natural beauty of the island!

We’ve just returned from a wonderful trip to Safari Island. The main reason we visit the Maldives is for the snorkelling and the tranquility. The resort is a 25 minute flight by seaplane from Male.

The standout point from the holiday is the house reef, which is easily accessible from the jetty and from the water bungalows. The reef was literally about 25m from our bungalow. We’ve visited a number of resorts in the Maldives over the years and this is the best reef for variety of fish which included many sharks, rays and turtles and a wealth of Maldivian reef fish. The water was clear with great visibility and the currents were not too strong. We also went on the Manta trip which suggests a 50% chance of seeing Manta’s and we hit the jackpot.

Other good points are the Thai Duny Spa, prices are reasonable and the treatments are good and the staff are nice, we went twice during our stay. The staff at the resort are very friendly and courteous and the island has a very relaxed vibe. Don’t visit if you’re looking for entertainment and multiple dining options. The food is of a decent standard and there are plenty of options for breakfast lunch and dinner. We found that the restaurant could get rather hot but it seems to depend on where you’re seated and where the wind is coming from.

The rooms are a good size with everything you need and effective A/C which was important as it was very hot and humid whilst we were there. Some of the resort is a little tired and could do with updating. Also this is not a resort for children or people with limited mobility.

My husband and I have just come back from a fabulous holiday. We stayed in a beach bungalow with direct access onto the beautiful beach and straight into the sea. Our bungalow was kept clean and tidy, towels replenishedevery day and even a bowl to clean your sandy feet changed every morning and left with tropical flowers floating in it.
The snorkeling was amazing. Lots of tropical fish to see - and reef sharks! We took our own snorkels but there were some available to use during your stay.
The food was amazing. Very varied and fresh. We were spoilt for choice at every meal. We particularly enjoyed the salads and the curries. Our table and waiter were the same throughout the stay and he was very attentive and friendly. We were full board as we aren't big drinkers. We found the prices of drinks to be reasonable with plenty of cocktails to choose from.
The staff on the Island are very friendly and we couldn't fault any of them.
The weather whilst we were there was wonderful and so different to the predicted forecast so don't worry if it says rain. We had hardly any rain in the day but it did rain at night - sometimes quite heavily with a wind. This did cause an issue with erosion around our villa but sandbags were always replaced when needed to protect the villa and beach.
Fabulous stay would not hesitate to recommend 🥰

I spent an amazing week at Safari Island. From the minute I arrived the staff were so polite and respectful, they could not do enough for the guests. The resort is fab. The reef is incredible. Overwater villa was perfect, with views to die for, incredible sunsets, cleaned every morning and evening if required. Food was plentiful and varied, allocated same table for duration of stay which I really liked. Some reviews say "old and tired" for me it was more rustic and authentic, could do with some TLC but its in the middle of the ocean so there is going to be some weather damage to the decking !! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my stay here and would return in a heartbeat. I am so glad I chose Safari Island even though its a small Island, you feel like you are the only person there, then when you go for dinner, its like where have all these people come from. Every member of staff go above and beyond, they are a credit to the hospitality industry.
Thank you everyone, I will definitely be back :-)
