Detailed Reviews
This was our 1st camping experience . Arrived at reception waited 5 minutes while someone was booking in which was a good thing as only one in at a time .
The receptionist who I now know as Leah booked me in and gave me a choice of 2 pitches with electric . Set up our tent and went to look around . All the facilities were fine . Showers were clean the kids park was good too .
The 1st night we was woken up by a few idiots making a noise but this is not the parks fault . They was removed the following morning .
The second night was the storm Francis which broke our new tent poles . Steve the maintenance man helped us out swiftly which was a god send . I complained to Leah the next morning about the storm and she said she would speak to the powers above and it worked lol .
We would definitely be returning . My partners son loved it playing all day with the other kids there .
All I would say is if you use the toilets and showers try cleaning them yourself when you have finished with them for the next person .
See you again Leah any and Steve . Didn’t get te other fellas name who cleaned the toilets and showers
Cheers

We are just back from a weekend of camping and being first timers don’t have anything to compare too. My kids enjoyed every second of it and I felt that they were safe to run free around the site. Although it was busy and only limited number of toilets and showers available (due to Covid obvs) we never had to queue for too long. Leah was lovely and we will be returning in the near future. Thanks guys x

Arrived for a 2 night stay with a nice welcome and guidance on where to pitch . Friendly staff . Had booked 2 electric pitches but were concerned the electric area was very crowded so opted for the less crowded non electric. As the weekend progressed it got more and more crowded and was surprised in this current environment.
All these people and with only 2 showers in each block ?
The final draw was a group of 10 or so were allowed to pitch right in front of us pretty much under the goal posts of the sports field . After the poor nights sleep ( noise outside the camp not in it ) which was outside the camps control
The park was clean and despite the obvious overcrowding managed to get a shower easily - although I put that down to my personal hygiene standards and obvious lack of others .
The owners need to put the comfort and needs of the campers before obvious profit seeking .
Was a regular smell of marijuana in the air .
Probably a great weekend if you are not looking for a quiet family orientated location .

On arrival after booking electric pitches for our family, we realised the owner had decided to pitch us all in random places so we needed various wires to actually reach our tents to use the electric we paid for, not only that but the electric was probably off more than it was ever on because it was constantly tripping for half the site. The toilets and showers are filthy, constantly flooded, filthy shower curtains, often no soap available or toilet roll, along with constant flooding when anyone tried to use the shower. On night one we were kept awake by constant singing and shouting from the tent behind us. This went on until easily 3am and prevented any of us from sleeping including 2 small children, but we still tried to remain positive and give the campsite a chance, as obviously it is not the owners fault other guests are loud. Night 2 same thing happens, people up at all hours. No sleep. Night 3 we sat outside our tent with a fire and some music playing on a fairly low volume, only to be greeted at half past 10 by a man who until this point we had not seen once around the site, he came and told us the quiet policy starts at half 10. We apologised turned our music down and explained that the site we booked on says we had until 11 just so he knew. Again not a problem. That is until this same man walks across to the bush opposite our tent and continues to stare at us all for absolutely no reason, not only is this weird behaviour anyway but we had children in the tents getting ready for bed and found this VERY unsettling. We spoke between ourselves and pointed out he seems to be spying on us, at which point this man who now claims he owns the park marches over to us telling us its his field and he can stare at who he likes and if we don't like it we can leave first thing. (Which obviously we did, what parent would stay after that) Anyway after the commotion we all settled into our tents ready for bed for around 11pm. All we could hear, yet again, was the music of the tent before. Only this night was 100 times worse. They were drinking and drinking to the point they stood throwing up outside of our tent until 1am. Interestingly this so called owner who was policing the quiet policy at 10.30pm was no where to be seen while the people out drinking shouted and screamed about how they were going to die, and continued to throw up at a ridiculous volume all night. Not only is this camp site lacking in absolutely everything, there was also nothing to do anywhere near by and after the experience of that man we will definitely not return. AVOID.

Response from Andrew james, Owner at Plough Leisure Caravan Park
Responded 28 Aug 2020
I’m sorry you feel this way but you obviously wasn’t abiding by the park rules we would not Randomly ask you to keep the noise Down for no reason Your group was very noisy there was a party of 4 tents in your group booking, there where a lot of adults and kids and we found it very Flustering having to keep asking yous all to keep the noise at a respectable level as yous are all adults responsible for your own actions yous chose to ignore when I politely come over and asked yous All to keep the noise Down. I was not spying on yous but there was no Reasoning with yous . we was having complaints From other campers at the park office regarding the noise Level that was coming from your party. This is a family run business and I am a family man my self with kids Everyone is safe here on park adults and kids, what spoils peoples time here on park is when other people don’t take into consideration quite time after 10 o’clock I think that rule must be for others campers not yous ! Thank you for Your stay take care Andrew

I would firstly like to say when we first arrived the lady at the desk was very friendly and helpful checking us in and was very welcoming. However after that my experience went down hill... The toilets and showers and washing up sinks are far too small for the sheer volume of people allowed on this site. We aren't ones to complain but I rung up previously to say about cleaning of toilets showers to say we were bit nervous because of covid but site we stayed at before this had Bleach down toilets every hour as you could see it bright blue and they used anti fogging system but none of this was done that we could see. Toilets and showers weren't clean enough especially as we are in middle of a Pandemic still! I ended up hardly using it and going off site to use the loo. You couldn't socially distance from one another at sinks or toilets as not enough room. Then Friday we came back out for the day and the site was full to the brim. Looked so jam packed it was ridiculous! How you can say you are running at less tents or vans cannot be true as there was no other space to fit anyone else in. This then stopped my children playing or running around as there were too many parked cars and not enough green space for them to play which is whole idea of camping is to be in the open space. I did bring this to the gentlemens attention but he didn't seem to care and had hardly anything to say which isn't great when you run a site. Then to top of it electrics kept tripping which I appreciate was fixed the next day but you had way too many points running off the same lead. Four or five tents running off of same electric point which surely is dangerous. I also spoke to another lady on site who said felt the same as us. We feel you just had phonecalls for bookings didn't want to turn business down so accepted all of them. Most of us have been hit financially some way by this virus but this is not acceptable and unsafe to try stop the spread of it. I wanted to go home but knew my children would be disappointed so stuck it out for their sake.

Staying in a touring caravan went to have a shower at 10 in the morning cold showers was told the water is on a come first basic and not very clean. No hot water for washing up also. Camp site very busy but if you pay for these facilities you should get hot water and staff cleaning during the day. Been to camp sites just as busy and hot water all day.

We are seasoned campers for 10 years. Stayed at many very good sites, a few not so good, but this campsite is the worst we've seen. 0n arrival we were taken to our pitch. The electric supplied for 2 pitches. We went out for the day on the bank holiday weekend. When we came back the site was full, literally, no distancing, cars everywhere - never seen anything like it. & only 2 toilets & 2 showers available for the whole site.
Consequently the electric kept going off due to amount of people using it. They allowed far too many people onto the site. This was all going against government guidelines re distancing.
The hand basins faced very close to the loo doors!! Couldn't get to the loos without literally passing someone at the basins in very close proximity. Washing up area not enough sinks for sheer volume of people.
I would though like to commend the young chap who had the job of cleaning the toilets etc having so many people using them. He was also very helpful & friendly too.

Stayed here with out 2 children age 4 and 7. The prack when you arrive is lovely set out and we were placed next to the park seemed ideal. We then had 2 large groups placed either side of us. One group set up speakers and blasted dance music till we'll gone 11 o clock. And the volume of the music was unbearable.
The other group set up fairy light (big bulb type) between there 3 tents that flashed lights into our tent all night, they never turned these off. It was like sleeping in a night club (or a birthday party as my 4 year old very sad little man said S he just couldn't sleep with the noise and the lights)
Owners saw both these things going on as they walk up and lock park every night, but said nothing. They also would Hve been aware that we were a family on our own and they were large groups together yet they still choice to place us there (we did not ask for a particular pitch)
Other rules that they make but don't inforce: they say no bikes scooters ect. There were loads if kids on these, (not a rule I care about but I didn't take ours as the Rule was there) cars must be parked on hour pitch facing forward (we were the only ones around us doing this) dogs must be kept on a lead. - seemed like it was choice.
The cleaning was not bad in the showers and toilets and I don't think it's there fault that people ignored the social distance rules as no other rules had to be followed.
Dish washing sinks with gross tho. And you had to clean before using.
So in conclusion if your a big group wanting to go and party this is ideal. If you are a family wanting to camp and sleep this campsite is not for you.

+1
The site was easy to find, and on arrival we were quickly taken to our electric pitch, once we were setup we had a wander around the site the overall appearance was okay but looking a little tired and in need a of make over the most disappointing part was cleanliness of the shower and toilet block which was dirty and in need of a deep clean, bugs, spiders and cobwebs were in abundance around the windows and urinal, the shower cubicles are very small with very little room to get dressed, shower curtains that hang from a rail were dirty and clung to your body because of the lack of room and the showers themselves were dirty and very unhygienic.
I checked the showers on one occasion after they were supposedly cleaned just 30 mins earlier but very little was done other than a quick whip around the floor with a mop this had little effect, I spoke to a few other people on site who also commented on the toilet blocks dirty state.
The positive of this site for us is it’s very close to a bus stop with frequent services to get around the island.
We won’t be returning to this site it’s one or the poorest I’ve seen in 30 years of using touring parks.
Please see attached photos.

Just come back from a two night stay for the may bank holiday. We had a nice corner pitch with electric hook up. There were other couples and families with young kids there and everyone was happy with a cheery hello which is always nice. The washing up area for pots and pans was clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. We had our dog with us and the site is very dog friendly and lots of other guests had their dogs with them. We met the site owner Andy and he was very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely go back to this site . Plus it was great value for money we paid 54 for two nights with our dog and this also included electric.
