We stayed one night here when walking around the Dolaucothi estate. Room one was lovely if a little noisy, conversations carried up the stairs from the bar, we were here mid week in the winter so it quieted down quite early, I imagine it could be disturbing on the weekends. We eat our evening meal here and all 3 courses...

Lovely couple running the place. Its National Trust owned and a lovely old building. Rooms are basic (no TV) but if you want somewhere away from the bussle this is perfect. The welcome here is very warm. Its the sort of place you would go if you like walks in the country. Nothing for miles around.

My wife booked us an overnight stay for my birthday as we usually just visit for dinner. Our room had everything we needed, including proper coffee. The kingsize bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The potted duck starter we both had, my ox cheek in a red wine sauce with leek mash, shallots and greens, my wife's rib...

We often pass through Dolaucothi and for the first time tonight we tried to catch a meal at the Dolaucothi Arms. They couldn't have been more welcoming, even though it was a really busy night, and they even welcomed the dog. An attractive menu featured good local produce and everything was beautifully prepared. The other guests all talked about how...

The Dolaucothi Arms was running a 'Curry Night' of a drink, with two curries out if four on offer, for £11 a head. Cracking food, better than I could cook, and good beer. Butty Bach and Evan Evans on tap. Good choice of wines too. I came out to there beer festival last year and was impressed. The building is...

Whilst on holiday, we called in here for lunch after walking around the Dolaucothi Gold Mines. I am so glad we did, The beetroot bourguignon was superb. So good, we booked in for Sunday Lunch. It was the best Vegetarian Sunday Lunch that we have had. The meat eaters seemed very happy too. We will definitely return if we are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dolaucothi Arms is a local pub offering good food, local beer and B&B in the village of Pumsaint in Carmarthenshire. The pub is owned by the National Trust, part of the Dolaucothi estate and about 15 mins walk from the Dolaucothi Gold Mines. Hearty lunches and dinners are served up in the dining room, walkers and cyclists (mud and all) are always welcome in our flagstoned bar – our two woodburners keep the pub cosy in winter. Our half acre pub garden looks over the Cothi river (the pub has 4 miles of fishing rights for salmon and sea trout see our fishing page). From the doorstep are walks and bridle paths across 2,500 acres of wooded hills and sweeping valleys owned by the National Trust and the starkly beautiful Cambrian mountains. It’s a short drive to the market town of Llandovery on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, pretty Llandeilo with its boutiques and delis and the Brechfa Forest – favourite of mountain bikers. ... more   less
