Enjoy the charm of the countryside 5 minutes from the ocean. Saint Hilaire La Foret, a small village of Vendee, where life is good, offers several departures of hiking trails, visiting the center of prehistory Cairn, and the exposure of dolmens and menhirs. The natural environment and comfort that we offer will make your holiday an unforgettable stay. The joys of water in the water area: heated indoor pool, outdoor pool, wild river, whirlpool, the wellness area, activities for children and adults in day and evening, the mini-farm, the vegetable garden, the outdoor life with nature both ocean and forest: all these ingredients just 5 km from the beaches of Longeville sur Mer.

Detailed Reviews
We found this site to be a very good choice for families with kids from 4 up to early teens.
There was lots to do with events like football, water polo etc.. always arranged.
Also onsite tabletennis, pool tables, ponyrides, kids clubs etc..
The only downsides for us was the pool facilities. The waterslides were great but the pool was always quite cold but that said the weather was not great when we stayed ( late july/ early august).
The local area was great and as we had brought our car we visited great local beaches.
Also plenty of attractions nearby. On a downside We would recommend that you are willing to accept changeable weather if you decide on BRITTANY, But overall a great place if you have kids, ours met others quite soon after arrival .

Visited for 12 nights August 2014 with Eurocamp staying in an Esprit 3 bed/2 bath mobile home. Large family, 2 adults and 5 anklebiters (ages 7,12, 12,14 and 15!) Absolutely fantastic site, everywhere is spotlessly clean and so much to do for the kids. The massive plus point is the pool area, really cannot fault it at all. The rule of taking shoes off and no food or drink by the pool seems to maintain the area brilliantly (no empty cups laying around, or food wrappers and very clean everywhere). There is a fantastic bar/entertainment area which has a real buzz at night, the reps put on 'entertainment' every night (not everyone's cup of tea but it makes you smile), there are air hockey/pool tables and zip-wires also on site which are a big hit with the kids. There is an onsite shop which is very well stocked ... I think the only minor niggle we found to the whole holiday was probably the choice of food from the take-away, which wasn't vast, but then again there is a restaurant on site and many restaurants close by. Carnac is a lovely resort, if a little busy with not great parking, but still great to look round. There is a Lidl and a Super U within 10 mins drive of the site (a godsend when trying to feed 4 teenagers!!) :) The Eurocamp reps were as usual very pleasant and helpful and the mobile home ticked every box, clean and tidy on arrival etc. Overall, great holiday on a fantastic site, would highly recommend especially for children. (There is some mention on here about lifeguards not being present but whilst we were there the animation guys 'patrolled' the pools and slide areas constantly to ensure everyone behaved, which in my opinion was a plus and seemed to stop any 'rowdy' behaviour) Oh and btw .. yes the WiFi is terrible, almost non-existent so don't go expecting to be in touch with the world everyday :)

A wonderful pool complex with a lazy river. Fresh bread and croissants available from the shop, with a lovely family feel. Families heading out each morning to collect their bread. Safe, and friendly park. Quiet and a wonderful restaurant overlooking the pool. Also a small farm area which small children would enjoy, and a 'Go Ape' style play area and zip wire, and table tennis etc for the older children. A smallish park, so the nightlife wasn't as eventful as in other parks we have stayed, but its quiet family friendly feel made for a more relaxing stay.

The mattress of the double bed was slipping back and forth from the bed. The bed itself was making an incredible noise only turning from on side to another which was very annoying and couldn't let me sleep. The service from the restaurant is very slow because they had only 1 waiter or sometimes 2 for a lot of people. Once we waited 45 min only for the waiter to come to take the order and another 40 minutes for the food to come.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write your testimony. We are sorry to know that the quality of the bedding was not to your liking and that you did not find the quality/price ratio of our services correct. Furthermore, we apologise for the wait in our restaurant-pizzeria La Pergola. We will make every effort to improve in the future and hope that you still enjoyed its rural setting and the Vendean specialities we serve. We would be glad to see you again and show you why a stay in our 4-star establishment is worthwhile. We look forward to seeing you soon, The Team of Camping La Grand'Métairie

Shameless how loud and late the music is playing every night. Until midnight with over 90 decibels in side of our tent. Our kids of 3 and 6 were tiered and unmanageable due to the lack of sleep. Please don’t call this camping a family camping. It is more like a training camp for drunk and disrespectful youngsters. I have seen more respect on festival campings then here.
Yes they have good pizza and a nice swimming pool and clean toilets. But what is the point if you can’t rest/sleep....

Great campsite, clean and tidy. Do not rely on WIFi it's rubbish; do lots of downloading and dig out old dvds n CDs, restaurant and bar expensive now as visited two years ago, do not hire bikes they are not fit for purpose. My daughter's breaks failed and she ended up in a ditch! Neither the park reception or guy running the mickymouse bike rentals gave a damn. Great pool indoor and outdoor. Facilities not signposted well. Look out for faint etchings on doors that indicate loos and Elsan near washing up sites. Carnac is great, loads of lovely beaches ships and restaurants. Happy hols 😎

We had a great time at La Grand Metairie. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was fine. The ice creams were nice as well and there were some small market stalls on some days selling various bits and pieces. The swimming pools were great though it wasn't the warmest when we were there. Lovely once you were in and the kids enjoyed them too. The little farm, playground and vegetable patch also kept the children interested over the course of the stay. The toilets/showers were regularly cleaned (the cleanest French campsite toilets we have experienced!) and there were plenty available though the drains did get blocked and the temperatures were variable when they were busy. The problem was usually solved pretty quickly. The highlight for the children was the tractor which went around the campsite playing music most nights. My daughter (5) was very excited to get a ride on the last night! The children also really enjoyed cycling around the site and cars travelled slowly and cautiously. Our pitch was a good size and the electricity point was close at hand though it was a bit of a mission tracking someone down to unlock our UK adaptor back at the end of the holiday (not ideal when you have a ferry to catch!)! The only downside really was that on some nights the music being played in the bar was really loud and went on very late (past midnight on some occasions). I know that they work to a different timetable on the continent but we thought this was a bit much for a family campsite. The location of the campsite was great, lots of things to do within short driving distance including lots of lovely beaches only 10 mins away. We found it to be very good value for money compared to other campsites in the area and communication before we visited was excellent. Overall, we had a great time and would happily return.

This is an average sized campsite and ideal for families with young kids. We went with 2 children, aged 10 and 12. There is a kids club which they didn't go to but was popular with the French. There is an all weather football/basketball pitch as well as a playground and ping pong table. The pool area was perfectly sized and kept the children entertained. The only quibble is that the playground didn't have much for their ages. The farm was a nice extra although some of the animals didn't look that thrilled to be there! The bar and restaurant were reasonably priced and there are plenty of supermarkets within a short drive. There's a tabac and general store a short walk away in the village. There are also lots of lovely beaches nearby. I'd recommend Plage du Veillon which isn't well publicised but a lovely sandy beach with nice walks in the surrounding area. In the evenings there was entertainment most nights in the restaurant. This was mostly aimed at kids but decent enough to pass away time. The bar also shows football and has pool, table football and air hockey. The staff are very friendly and happy to give help/advice. There is also a free shuttle service to a nearby beach. Overall, we had a great holiday there and would definitely recommend to families.

We had a very enjoyable family holiday at this campsite. We (2 adults, 2 young children under 3 yrs) rented a mobile home for two weeks in this campsite. The mobile home was modern with all modern conveniences and decking outside. The staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean. The swimming pools and playgrounds were enjoyable for children. The village where the campsite is situated is very small and quiet but it is quiet close to a beach and supermarket (10 mins) by car. We were very happy overall with the choice of this campsite and would recommend it.

"We stayed with Eurocamp. As seems to usually be the case, the Eurocamp pitches are some of the furthest away from the action, but as this was a small camp it wasn't too far to walk to the attractions. We had a wonderful modern camper home at the end of a quiet lane."Read full review
