We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of April whilst attending Hexham Book Festival. We didn't need to go to the Festival as Pauline and John's house is filled with a large eclectic mix of interesting books! The house is beautifully furnished and our bedroom was sumptuous with a lovely en suite. Having the use of a lovely...

On arrival at Henshaw Barn we were warmly welcomed by Pauline and John who immediately made us feel very much at home. The accommodation is superb, with great attention to detail and beautiful decor. We chose to have our evening meals at the barn and we were thrilled with the results. John is an outstanding and imaginative chef. Using both...

This was our fifth visit, this time with friends, to this lovely house in a stunning part of the country. We were given a warm welcome, as always, by Pauline and John, who are simply the best hosts ever. They have thought of everything that you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable - just read a...

My boyfriend and I were walking Hadrian's wall during this Easter and staying at Henshaw Barn was definitely the highlight among the places we visited. This is not one of those sterile places you stay in for a bed and shower, this B&B is a real country home with two perfectionist owners. Pauline and John are very welcoming and accommodating and...

It was such a pleasure to meet you both - young, vibrant, adventurous travellers - with lots of cultural, linguistic links - the Russian connection was of particular interest, and one that we will remember. Many thanks for your lovely review (and photo) and for your recommendations. We are SO pleased that you enjoyed your short stay with us. And were...

Owners Pauline and John have a passion for perfection! My wife has an "eye for style" and looks forward to appraising any new B&B we visit. She was in awe as soon as we stepped into Henshaw Barn. Pauline has cut no corners in her choice of decorations, fittings and fabrics. Indeed, as we settled and got to know her,...

My wife and I stayed on the 2nd April 2017 for one night, but wished we stayed longer! We were welcomed by Pauline and John and offered a scone (delicious!) and tea, having a friendly welcoming chat before being shown our room. The place is immaculate, clean, looks stuning and very homely. Our room was no different. We had a...

Everything was considered and we found our room well equipped, comfortable and cosy. The little sitting room upstairs was very comfortable with a...

You were unexpected but most welcome visitors in late February, and the most agreeable and appreciative of guests - how good it is that you found so much to like during your brief stay with us. Thank you so much for your recommendations, and for your lovely, uplifting review - so cheering at this this bleak time of year. And...

Pauline and John couldn't have been more attentive to the needs of cold and bedraggled cyclists. Ideal location on Hadrian's Cycleway (National Cycle Network Route 72), midway between Bowness-on-Solway and Newcastle, and close to Vindolanda. I would simply echo all the other good things people have said and recommend Henshaw Barn highly.

And how cold and bedraggled you were - with your dripping clothes (so wet they were making pools!) and needing to be put on the 'spin' cycle in the washing machine before being hung up to dry!!! But warmth, hot water, and good food put the world to rights, and the rigours of the day gradually receded....... Thank you so...

After a day spent cycling into a cold, wet north easterly wind Henshaw Barn was a welcome sight. Welcomed with freshly made scones with homemade jam. We were totally relaxed in minutes and soaking up the cottage feeling. Things got better as we saw our room and enjoyed the views outside. John provides excellent food on every occasion. Pauline is an excellent host and makes sure her guests needs are met. We can't wait to return this Oct.
