Gaina, our host, was very hospitable and helpful.
The facilities are basic, but perfectly comfortable and clean.
The location is delightful, set in the village of Spittle, in the heart of beautiful Pembrokeshire.
This is a good little low budget place to stay, accessible to all the local attractions.

A self catering house (not sure if you can 'cook dinner' ?) But there is a pub over the road that does pretty good food !

There are 3 rooms downstairs and apparently some rooms upstairs. All neat, clean, very functional. Share bathroom, with a great shower .... there is also a spa bath ... I didn't try it ! Kitchen, lounge .... would be a great place if you were travelling with a group !

Relaxed holiday house in a quiet village where the kids can run around outside. Room was clean, wifi was reliable and there's a clean, modern kitchen to prepare your own food. Ideal, low budget stopover for a night.

Arrived at the house on check in day at our given time to find that they were still cleaning it! We were met by the owner who wasn’t the most welcoming of people.
House looks nice at first glance but when you look closer, you’ll see that’s not the case.
Damp, bubbling paint in a couple of the rooms, rubbish left from previous guests (which we were asked to dispose of) cobwebs, spiders and thick layers of dust in most places. Toilet in main bathroom was filthy and I had to clean it before it could be used. House sleeps 10 but only has enough seating for 8. DVD player supplied didn’t work. Windows were filthy and obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. Some if the furniture was broken and rickety and some of the mattresses were too small for the bed frames!
Off road parking is a tight squeeze through a small gap and can only comfortably fit 3 cars. We arrived back one day to find someone had come to mow the lawn and parked their vehicle at the property, so one of our party had to park on the main road. This wasn’t a problem until one of the neighbours stormed into the property uninvited and rudely asked us to move our car as it was outside her property, despite it being on a public road with no parking restrictions!!
(It’s a bit like Royston Vasey)
It’s a shame as the house itself is lovely and very spacious, it’s just in need of a serious deep clean and a little TLC.
Area is nice though, with a nice park and a lovely little pub across the road and it’s in a good location for getting to nearby attractions.

If I could give -5stars I would have done so. The house need desperately deep cleaning and the owner doesn't know how to handle complaints. We've been treated as people who went there for free (and not to mention we have paid double for new years). Absolute disrespect for the fact that we were with kids. The agency that we done the booking helpless as well. Never going back.

Old Police House - Lovely setting and accommodation, but major drawbacks!

A friend and I booked two nights in the “family suite” which looked spacious and lovely in the pictures on Booking.com. What a shock it was to discover that there was no privacy or security, since the upstairs living quarters had no door! Literally no door at the bottom or the top of the stairs!! Anyone staying in the downstairs rooms could simply wander upstairs anytime. In fact, several guests admitted that they had, just out of curiosity to see the upstairs. There were two twin beds on one side of the living room and at the other end was a separate bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom, which we would both use. In addition, there was no way to lock the main door to the outside, so this door remained open for all the guests ... as well as potential thieves, rapists, or anyone else. My friend decided to take the double room (which had a lock and key), since she felt extremely uncomfortable with this situation. Then she discovered that the key wouldn’t turn in her bedroom lock, as it had obviously been placed by an imbecile handyman. Even the outside door didn’t click shut and constantly blew open, causing a draft.

So, why didn’t we complain to the manager, you may wonder? Because there was no one on site! We were instructed by the owner via Booking.com that we should phone in advance to let them know our time of arrival, which we did. A woman named Gaina told us that the door would be open which, of course, it was since the door didn’t close. As soon as we saw all these problems, we phoned Gaina, who listened and seemed to sympathize, but did nothing to solve them. She said she couldn’t get in touch with anyone immediately but would have the locks repaired the next day. But nothing was ever repaired. She said she would give us two separate rooms the following day, with bathroom in the hall just for us. We accepted. But as the rooms had to be cleaned, we could not move our belongings into the new rooms until after the other guests checked out, so we had to load all the luggage back in my car before leaving in the morning to go sightseeing and bring it all back in that evening, which was very annoying. The other guests we met were also incredulous that there was no key given to them for the front outside door and felt insecure that anyone could walk in. Several of the guests we met complained about the quality of the beds. There was no sign indicating that the bathroom in the downstairs hall was just for our rooms, so other guests used it, probably since there was a nice bathtub. The mystery about why the upstairs “family suite” has no door at all was never answered by Gaina. This upstairs area is not suitable in its present state to be advertised on Booking.com or elsewhere, even though it is spacious and pretty. Of course if the whole place is rented out to a large family or group of friends, then this would not be a big issue. Just to note, the TV remote didn’t work either as the batteries were corroded. And the WiFi code and password were scribbled illegibly on a scrap of paper, which we just happened to notice by chance on a table.

There was a very nice kitchen downstairs where guests could cook and keep their food in the fridge. There was also bread and butter, cereal, milk, tea, and coffee which guests were free to use. In addition there was a lounge with TV at the end of the hall, but I didn’t check if that TV was working. There’s free parking in the back for a few cars.

A young girl came in to clean the place the second day but didn’t bother to empty the full trash can under the kitchen sink or to refill the hand wash liquid in the bathroom, which was empty.

The Old Police House has potential to be a very nice place to stay but it needs major renovations to make the upstairs a secure self-contained area, plus a caretaker on-site or nearby who can follow up on maintenance and handle problems efficiently. The WiFi code and password were scribbled illegibly on a scrap of paper, for example, which we just happened to notice by chance on a table. Honestly, I would not recommend this place at the present time, primarily because of the poor management and their lack of concern and hospitality.

I decided to book in on route to Fishguard, with working and travelling all day I thought it would have been a good idea to stop here have a sleep, shower and then resume my journey! How wrong I was.
As I was arriving at 5.30pm and leaving at 1am I emailed beforehand asking if this would be ok, (I had booked through booking.com) I didn't receive a reply so went ahead regardless.
First problem was finding the place, although I had the gps coordinates I had to stop at the local pub and ask for directions as there was absolutely no signage for the property.
Having arrived I met the owner who seemed very harassed and by the looks of things was still getting rooms ready. After asking my name we were shown to the upstairs room, which had a double room ensuite with a lounge area and beside that was an annex with twin beds. I thought this was a bit odd as when i booked there was only a double room with private external bathroom available. I asked if this was definately our room and she said yes and left us. I went to pay only then realising that no cards were accepted luckily we had cash. It was then she asked my name again and had realised she put us in the wrong room! We were to be downstairs, I wasn't happy as was exhausted and just wanted to get my head down. After lugging my heavy case downstairs, I then discovered that the private bathroom wasn't so private as we were sharing with 2 other rooms and anyone else who needed to go to the toilet while downstairs! This was not what I paid for.
The house has been recently refurbished so still a bit rough around the edges, there was no where to hang clothes, no cups so we had to ask for them and coffee, no teaspoons and If you wanted more than one cup of tea you'd have to ask as only given 2 loose tea bags.
I managed to get my head down for a couple of hours but was still raging when I woke up.
I decided to speak to the owner and give her a chance to rectify the situation. My main problem was the shared bathroom and explained that private external meant for that room only, her response was its clean and as I was leaving early I'd probably be the first to use it! I also mentioned that I didn't know her name as she didn't introduce herself, no signage had to stop and ask , no towels on arrival, no where to hang clothes, sending us to the wrong room really was unprofessional behaviour for a B&B wanting guests to pay for such a service and felt it was not worth £60. Her response was signage has been ordered, fair comment on bathroom and she agreed that she wouldn't particularly like to share a bathroom either and apologised about the room mix up, but that was it!
I went back to the room disgusted with the response, tried to sleep again but as we were beside the kitchen the noise prevented this as someone had come in and chatting for a few hours loudly. We left at 12.30am I couldn't shower as I couldn't bare the thought of using that bathroom. So what I thought would have been a good idea turned out leaving me stressed, angry and tired for my long journey ahead.

We were 3 families and we have booked it for 4 nights from the 29th of Dec' 19 till 2nd of Jan'20. We had kids with us range from 3 to 7.

When we have arrived at the Old Police House, we were really in shock, there was no one to welcome us, the property was not cleaned from the previous people who rented it , hair on the beddings (dirty, not washed). You can check all the images that i will attache. Then we have called the owner, I have explain her that I will not sleep in this sheets. I went to Tesco to buy new ones. There was not another option to go back to London, 4.30 h drive with kids , really ? and we wanted to spend NYE together , leaving the property ? NOT an option. We decided to stay as long as the lady come and clean the sheets. The lights in the bathroom were not working.

After I have called Gaina, she has sent a 16 year old girl Ginna to clean the house , really 16 year-old ??? Another BIG joke. I have told the girl that she won't be able to finish it by NYE and no point to stay. Then she left.

Gaina Morgan came in 3 hours time , ready for scandal , I said "hello", and she started the convo with , why you saying it is dirty here .... woww of course it is, You can see the images and video. She then said that if we don't like to stay we HAVE to LEAVE the house , with all the kids ..... Such a horrible person, no heart , this woman is a real MONSTER. I prefer to say nothing else about this person and I will just upload the images. Also my kids had skin rash after the stay. We have booked it with SykesCottages , again another big JOKE they have offered us £50 OFF from our next stay .... and we have paid them £1050 for these 4 nights.

Thank you tripadvisor for the possibility to prevent other people to be disappointed with their stay in Wales.

We booked last minute as we came down to Wales a day early before staying at a holiday house. The owner greeted us and was very friendly offering tea or coffee. When we arrived at 6pm the room wasn't ready so we said we'd come back. The upstairs area offers a double room & ensuite, living room with TV and annex with 2 beds. Ideal if you have a small child and don't want to go to bed at 7pm! There was quite a debate around whether our daughter would sleep in the annex or whether we needed an extra bed in our room. There is no gate on the stairs so the owner was concerned our daughter might fall. We said this wasn't an issue but after some insistence, we agreed to have her in with us. The owner then asked if she could then sleep in the annex. A bit shocked, we just agreed and went out for dinner. Needless to say we all ended up in our room at 7pm after all as we didn't feel comfortable being out in the living room! Our bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, the tea tray hadn't been filled, there were no blinds on any windows (incl the bathroom) and we had 1 towel between 3 of us. Breakfast in the morning was really nice and the owner was lovely but we were all feeling quite jaded at this point.
I do hope they can sort out these issues and the place becomes a success but I won't be going back in a hurry!

the owner was very friendly when we had contact by phone but no-one was in the house when we arrived. After 15 minutes waiting a woman arrived but she looked as she was in a hurry. The house is spacious and it has a kitchen but it is very dirty > the dirt drops out of the hood into your pan. The pans are all in a very poor condition (tefal is scratched off > canciogenic) so after all we went to the neighbours to ask them proper material to cook ( VERY FRIENDLY neighbours). The shower upstairs looks very dirty and the water didn't run off when we took a shower > I took out the drain lid and there was a huge amount of hair and dirt coming out >> since than we could take a shower again without causing a water flood upstairs. Conclusion : they need an other cleaning wife !
The positive aspects :
- although there is no breakfast included , they offered free breakfast (bread, milk, jam an corn flakes)
- the location is super if you have children > a lawn in front of the house and in the back a playground for smaller children.

"The top floor suite appears to be ideal for family or group of 4 , to be seperate from other rooms. although we had a room with ensuite, we would have had no problem with one of the other rooms which shared one large modern bathroom. The double bedded room is next to the kitchen -may not be so desirable if house is full and you want a lie-in! But ideal if you are early risers."
