When I booked I was a little apprehensive due to some negative comments around the rules, but I’m so please I took no notice. Check in was easy was given a choice of pitches, shown around the facilities. A great place very clean, toilets and showers and heated floor in the showers, a great touch. I just had one family in a pod next to me that didn’t not stick to the quiet after 10 pm who continued to sing and chat. I can only imagine the people who left the negative feedback for this camp site and non campers and just honing it a try. Would Definitely recommend

I have a mixed review of this campsite. Myself and my Husband pitched up for 7 days last week, although came home 2 days early. The weather had not been great which was definitely a factor and in no way the campsite’s fault. No one wants to take down a soaking wet tent so we cut our losses and left in the dry! The campsite is in an idyllic location with beautiful views and close to local amenities and only 5 mins up the road from Keswick. The facilities were kept clean and COVID 19 guidelines were in place, we both felt safe. A couple of things I wish I had known prior... there are only 3 showers in total and they are unisex. You access them walking through the pot wash which made me feel a bit weird and I would have liked to have been prepared for that. There are 2 ladies toilets, 2 gents toilets and 2 unisex toilets. There is a plug socket in the pot wash which would have been useful to know, as being on a non EHU pitch I would have brought chargers/hairdryer etc. There are no hand dryers or paper towels in the toilets, so every time you use them you need to remember to take your own towel or be prepared to “air dry”. The showers though, were clean and warm and so was the pot wash area. Our biggest issue was the mud! We were pitched on the open field and could not get our car anywhere near our pitch otherwise it would have got stuck. We had to buy additional tarp in order to make our stay possible. It was unpleasant to sit outside our tent, and there were sections of the tent we had to avoid standing on as they just sank. A couple came and pitched up next to us and then left the next day as they couldn’t cope with it. Since being home I have done 8 loads of washing! It’s a shame, as the site is in a great location but would really benefit from some proper drainage and is better suited to Glastonbury style groups who don’t mind getting covered in mud and using unisex facilities.

This review applies specifically to Lanefoot Loft, which is situated on the Lanefoot campsite. The loft is a clean and well maintained studio for 2, which is comfortable and cosy. It is located in an area just outside Keswick, and has great views all around. Approximately a mile away, the village of Braithwaite has 3 pubs which serve food. There are a couple of practical points which I think are important for anyone thinking of booking a stay at the loft. It is located directly above the showers and washing up area for the campsite, and can be noisy at times. The earliest we heard the shower pipes was around 5am, and people were washing up as late as 11.15pm. Also, the loft is advertised as self-catering, but all that is available for preparing meals is a single ring hob and a microwave, so the reality is that you need to go out for any substantial meals. If you are ok with that, then I would recommend Lanefoot Loft as a good place to stay.

The site itself is beautiful & very idyllic with chickens roaming. Staff we met were very friendly & facilities kept clean. We unfortunately were in the other field, which was water logged and very muddy. This was very difficult with a dog, she was covered in mud within an hour and covering us & the tent (the photos just aren't expressing the level of mud!) We therefore weren't able to stay for the full stay as us & everything else was covered in mud. Apparently a family that was there before us had to leave early as they had the same problem with kids being covered in mud. Weve camped in the rain loads of times & never really experienced this level of mud bath. I would therefore avoid if it has been raining. The people there in couples were OK as they didnt have to worry about dogs/kids spreading mud everywhere.

Good site although we had very bad weather so the pitches were muddy but we manged OK . Toilets and shower blocks small but kept very clean and tidy . Good signage re Covid 19 guidelines which people seemed to be following. A good site well placed for touring.
