The Secret Campsite is focused on nature, peace and space. The site is a small tent only campsite 5 miles north of Lewes in East Sussex. We have very large pitches and we allow campfires. The camping meadow is surrounded by ancient woodland filled with an abundance of wildlife and visitors often see kestrels, owls and deer amongst a huge variety of other species including Glow worms in July and August. Our camping meadow is kept car and dog free to allow children to roam and explore safely. We provide trolleys to transport your belongings into the camping field, which is just a couple of minutes from the car park. We have a quiet time after 10 pm to allow for the sounds of wildlife to fill the site. We offer hot showers, new flushing toilets and covered washing-up facilities.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed at The Okra for 8 days and had a very relaxing time. There are two areas, The Meadow, with lots of space and The Orchard, with a bit more privacy but still plenty of space for each pitch. There are three ‘glamping’ pitches, including The Okra and a number of pitches for tents. The new wash block is great, with proper toilets and hot showers. This is the third time we’ve stayed here and always very welcoming. Highly recommended

What a wonderful campsite. Beautiful, quiet, no light pollution (we saw the milky way properly for once!), hugely helpful staff, great walks (though no swimming), extraordinary birdsong, new spacious shower blocks, just a generally top notch experience.

This is where you need to go for peace and quiet. There is plenty of space for all, especially nature. You can unwind, go with the gentle pace of the day in a well maintained environment The fantastic friendly staff are on hand if you need them, or just for a rewarding chat. The new wash house is wonderful. With no cars, music, lights and all the other things that spoil other campsites, I highly recommend a stay. This was our tenth time here. We love it so much I almost don't want to post this so as to keep the place secret. And what amazing starry nights! Keep it dark.

Lovely friendly place, very easy to camp (which we have done before here) or as on this occasion to glamp! We booked at very short notice, had a great welcome, everything worked beautifully and the new shower/ loo block is terrific. My wife hates camping but if she ever came here I think she might learn to love it.

This was our second visit to The Secret Campsite. The pitches are generously sized and in a beautiful setting. As a family we really appreciate the back to nature approach, and particularly value the no music at any time and no noise after 10pm rules, which has been strictly adhered to on both occasions we visited. We loved listening to the owls, woodpeckers and pheasants and spotting the many butterflies on site. Having a campsite that positively encourages campfires is a lovely novelty and we spent hours toasting marshmallows and chatting by firelight. Staff are friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Steffi was a great host who answered our pre arrival queries quickly and was on hand when we arrived, immediately making us feel welcome. The new wash house facilities are brilliant. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the building. The shower cubicles are enormous, indeed the whole complex is spacious and a pleasure to use. It was spotlessly clean when we stayed there. My daughter is already counting down the days until we stay next summer!

I would love to keep this place a secret, but actually everyone should know about it. We loved camping here. An absolute must-do for any family wanting a secret camping adventure. This campsite, and the staff, are superb. It's super kid-friendly and we will definitely go again.

Fantastic little place with new washroom facilities. Each pitch is secluded from others to give some privacy and enhance the ‘back to nature’ vibes. Lovely staff and lots of info provided up front to help you plan. Great little farm shop down the road to pick up supplies, too.

Goodbye to soulless camping! This place has got something a little bit special about it. We stayed in the Tree House and it was a truly special experience, but the whole site would make any camping trip here a pleasure. Lovely staff and you really feel out in nature with peaceful and scenic pitches. It had a really safe feel about it with no cars driving around and so you don’t worry so much about the kids running about - gives them a huge sense of freedom. We borrowed a bat detector from reception and it was a real highlight to see and hear them, along with bunny rabbits and an owl!

Great campsite. There was an issue with the temperature of the showers but resolved within a day. I really liked the secluded areas in the Orchard. This is quite a small sire, which is great and looking forward to the new toilet and shower block. Already planning the next visit

A fantastic friendly family based paradise, Tim and Co (the owners) are always on hand to solve any issues and it’s as rural as it gets. Camp fires, camp cooking, clear skies and astronomers sometimes onsite to show everyone the Sun and moon.
