Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ann and Martin are delightful hosts and White Lodge is just beautiful. The setting of the house is so peaceful surrounded by the lovely garden and the woods. The rooms and bathrooms are immaculate and luxurious with wonderful attention to detail. The comfiest bed! Added to all this, the delicious breakfasts and Ann’s yummy homemade cakes make White Lodge a perfect place for a break in the leafy Sussex countryside. Thank you both (and Mali the cat!) for making us so welcome. Ruth & Stephen

Very often the word “luxury” is used to cover up deficiencies. Not here. It is an accurate description of the offer. From the high quality shampoo and conditioner in the shower to the superb smoked salmon at breakfast, and everything in-between, this is a genuinely luxury experience. But friendly as well, an unusual combination! The proprietors have attended to detail, and i’d be surprised if anyone can find something missing. But there is nothing contrived about the welcome you you’ll receive and the help you will be given. If you are going to Glyndebourne - twenty minutes away - White Lodge is the perfect place to stay. Taxis will be organised for you and every necessary details sorted. The countryside around is lovely and if you like to explore it White Lodge is the perfect place. Treat yourself - you won’t regret it.

My husband and I have just returned from two lovely nights at White Lodge. Ann and Martin were very welcoming, and their home proved the perfect location for our stay, as we were researching family history in the local area. Everything was of the highest quality, our room and the breakfasts were superb, and our only regret was that we had so much planned each day that we didn’t get chance to spend as long as we would have liked at White Lodge, simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings, watching the antics of the wildlife in the garden, and enjoying chilled drinks on the roof terrace in the sunshine. For anyone thinking of visiting White Lodge, be assured you will definitely enjoy your stay. Paula & Mike, Cheltenham.

This was a full 5 star experience. The environment is serene-surrounded by woodland & perfect place to relax or jump off to other attractions in the area. From the get go run up to and throughout the standard of thoughtfulness, going the extra mile and intelligence of the service was supreme. The rooms are luxurious, spacious and sleek. There's a touch of the Frank Lloyd Wright about it but the spare space, decor and setting are all of high spec and restful. There is lots of space to relax, meet the cat and see pheasants frolicking in the garden. Ann & Martin are the perfect hosts & the quality of the breakfast offer will blow you away. The thinnest perfectly cooked omlette-almost crepe like, i have ever had-mistress-chefull! The beds are SO comfortable with excellent high spec mattresses. We'd be back in a heartbeat and is excellent value for money.

The best breakfast we ever had in a b&b following our own choice on a large menu. Very friendly people, large room with luxury furniture upstairs. This is really 5 star which is unusual here including an unbeleavable cat staying around a nice garden. Well... Forget all hotels and go there! Britta & Claude (Paris).

Ann and Martin have a beautiful home, impeccably maintained along with the well looked after grounds. They are extremely welcoming and accommodating. I booked a 2 night stay to celebrate my wife's birthday and from the booking all the way through to departure it was a pleasure. I booked directly on their website and received a welcome email along with a breakfast menu (including vegetarian and vegan options). The email included many suggestions of local places to eat and visit along with instructions of how to get to the property (easy to find with the satnav). On arrival we were welcomed by Ann and given a tour of the beautiful property and the garden. The room itself was ensuite, impeccably cleaned and very well presented. Our room directly overlooked the beautiful garden and every morning we were greeted by a view of the local wildlife (pheasants, rabbits and squirrels). Breakfast (vegetarian) was served at a time that was convenient to us, locally sourced and delicious. Ann is a great gardener and gave my wife a tour of the garden along with greenhouse where the grow the vegetables for our breakfast. My wife received great tips on growing vegetables and looking after her own plants. It really felt like we were staying with old friends. My only regret was we didn't spend more time at the property itself, relaxing in the garden or on the amazing roof terrace.
