First time visitors and “newbie” motorhomers. Friendly welcome at the house as we arrived in the dark. Directed to our pitch with quick description of facilities and a map. With a mix of hard standing with Electricity & Water and grass pitches, motorhomes, campervans, caravans and tents (brave souls given the probability of rain in February!) Pencelli seems to cater for everyone.

The main area includes showers/toilets, separate rooms for washing up, fridge/freezer, laundry, information and drying with lockable individual cages and a wastewater / rubbish area. All very clean and well kept. The reception/shop (was closed during our 2-night visit).

The Royal Oak at Pencelli is just up the road for food and drink with lots of walking options close by.

Just returned from 3 nights here. We left early to avoid the overnight rain. On arrival we were allocated our pitch by reception where there's a small handy shop. Pitch had a hedge on both sides and near the entrance of The Oaks with EHU just to the back. The shower block was nearby with all the usual extras plus a fridge freezer room and coat and boot drying room. Shower block very clean as was the washing up area. The showers are on timers and no plugs in the bathroom area only two pin sockets.

We visited the local pub the Royal Oak for drinks and dinner. Food was good. Simple garden overlooking the canal altho we sat inside.

We also stopped and chatted to the couple who own the pizza van called The Fire Pit (on facebook) just across the road which was very clean and handy for those who wanted to order a pack up or pitta bread kebab. Plus a different pizza van visits site twice a week.

Not much to do in the immediate area although there is a bus service. Site is peaceful and well maibtained. The flowers by the main block were a real credit to the place

What an absolute gem of a campsite. Lovely spacious pitches, with seclusion. Perfect for exploring Pen Y Fan, though ventured further to Llyn y fan fawr, breath taking views. Washing up facilities excellent, room for drying clothes, fridges and freezers, hot showers, sinks in own cubicle for privacy when brushing teeth. Right next to the canal Brecon and Monmouth for a lovely stroll, or walk. Osprey nest viewing near talybont on Usk. Beautiful pond. Electric hook up a bonus. Plus amazingly glorious weather 7th to 10th May. We will be returning next year. Last but so not least, all the staff friendly, helpful and even supplying me an extension to my electric hook up as mine was slightly too short. Absolutely give this site 5* rating.

Pencelli Castle Camping is a great campsite for exploring the Brecon Beacons! The facilities are very clean and it has everything you could need - the drying room is handy for soggy hiking boots after a day out in the rain. Close to a good pub and nice walks along the canal.

Just finishing off our first weekend at Pencelli castle caravan and camping site and what a gem it is. We stayed in our motor home on a handstanding serviced pitch so that everything we needed was close at hand. We used the shower blocks which were spotless. Even fresh flowers were spotted. Water pressure was spot on.
There is everything you could possibly need here for a break away from home.
The lady in the shop welcomed us as soon as we arrived and gave us a map and info about the site. The Royal Oak pub is fab for a quiet drink and Brecon is just 4.5 miles walk down the most picturesque canal walk ever!!!
The views on the site are stunning and the setting is perfect. Great site, great staff and great facilities.
If you haven’t been here you need to book now!! We loved it that much we have already booked for 2 weeks time.

Had a marvellous 3 days at the multi award winning campsite in the Brecon Beacons. All the staff very very friendly and helpful. Facilities spotlessly clean (free showers) and a well stocked little shop in reception. Lots of choices of grass pitches with or without EHU. I paid £16/night (including owls at night) for a non electric pitch which was amazing as it is the school holidays. Prices go down in September and again in October just before they close for winter. I will use it again as a base for exploring the Pen Y Fan and Gap Road area on a mountain bike.

One of the best campsite I have been! We spent 4 nights and I wished we could have more time! The campsite is incredibly beautiful, with a lot plants and trees everywhere. We could feel the nature around us!
The environment is peaceful and quite, and all the customers are so respectful, in fact we didn't have any noise neighbours and we didn't have any problem to share the amenities with others since everyone was looking after themselves, the campsite's rules are quite strictn, which is really good!
All the facilities were cleaned twice a day, the shop provides good essentials items and food (delicious bacon perfect for bbq and local cheddar), and the staff is really nice and welcoming!
Also the campsite's location is good, around the beautiful hills/mountains of Brecon, in fact we reached the 4 waterfalls walk in just only 40 minutes, the Pen y Fan walk in only 15 minutes and Brecon in 10 minutes (by car, of course). This campsite is perfect for a peaceful and relax stay and definitely we will come back!

One of the best campsites we have been to in Wales. It was so peaceful even during the day. We were in a camper van in The Orchard area. Each pitch was private with hedging at either side to make them feel very secluded. The facilities were very clean and there were plenty of toilets, basins and showers.

The local pub is just a 5 minute walk away (The Royal Oak) serving local ales and lovely food.

All in all, a lovely setting and fantastic base for exploring the Brecon Beacons.

We are enjoying another long weekend at our “go to” campsite. We just love this splendid campsite which is so well managed. The whole site is clean and tidy. The ablutions are spotless, with really hot showers which are very welcome after a day on the hills.
The two brothers who manage the family owned site went out of their way to buy me a Sunday paper. This kindness and care for their guests makes Pencelli Castle campsite so special.

There was something about Pencelli when we looked online that I had to book it straight away and I am so glad I did. It really is a wonderful and relaxing place to stay.
We arrived early and were checked in by a lovely lady who gave us a wealth of information on both the site and the area and we were soon heading to our pitch.
We were on pitch 14 which is a very generously sized hard standing pitch. Sited on a slightly elevated area with hedges to give you privacy but not to obstruct the views over the sheep filled fields.
The facilities on site are honestly some of the best we have ever seen. The toilets and showers were very clean, hot water always on tap even during busy times and all covid safe being cleaned twice a day. The dish wash and food prep room was the best we had seen, clean with all plugs, dish drainers and plenty of space for everyone. We made use of the information room to give us a few ideas for things to do in the area. It also housed the freezers for those without facilities which I thought was lovely.
The grounds are well looked after without being over done and the floral displays are gorgeous. The friendly staff and owners really go out of their way to make Pencelli such a wonderful place to stay and you can really see the hard work that they put in.
We had four amazing nights sleep in our campervan and had no trouble putting our awning up on the hardstanding. the ground was good under the gravel. It is a peaceful site but not in an overbearing way and you can always hear a sheep or two!
The location is good. We cycled to Brecon along the canal, watching the barges navigating the locks and watching the wildlife. We also cycled to Talybont On Usk and onto the reservoir for a picnic. There is a pub in the village and a couple in Talybont on Usk and a good sized shop there too.
I can't think of any negatives or words of warning about Pencelli Castle and I shed a little tear as we left because I was sad to be leaving.
Oh and if you are lucky enough you with catch the 3 ducks from the pond heading to or from their daytime visit to their other home, waddling down the verge they are adorable!

Hi, Thank you for your enquiry. It is midday but if the pitch isn't used the night before you are welcome to arrive sooner. You would need to phone us either the day before or in the morning for that information. Regards, Ger Rees.

Hi, Thank you for your enquiry. The bus stop is 100 yards from our entrance. It is the Brecon to Abergavenny. I can't post a web link here but if you do a Google search you can find the timetable.
