Glamping at Luckaborough was just brilliant its the best site ive ever stayed at. One of the things that makes this site so great is they only have 3 pitches on the whole site (which is huuuuuuge) so it’s like having your own personal campsite or going wild camping but with all the mod cons. The three sites have shared access to a huge woodland with an area for a fire, a large lilly pad filled swimming lake and a smaller wild life pond. Each pitch was set in its own field and ours was several acres in size and surrounded by high hedges so you have great privacy. Our accommodation was a 20foot Yurt with a smaller yurt annexed on to accommodate the kids, the main yurt was very well equipped with everything you would need. The beds and bedding were excellent with nice sheets duvets and pillows plus extra blankets for if you are a cold sleeper, there is also a wood fired burner too if needed. Each site has its own wood fired hot tub which was great as you could just sit in there for as long as you wanted. There is a composting loo just outside the yurt....my only complaint about it is when you close the door you can’t see the great view, there is also a conventional loo in the shower block too. The other nice thing is the shower/kitchen/dishwashing block is a 40 meter walk away which keeps you in the camping mindset although there is a gas cooker/oven cooking equipment etc inside the yurt. There is a fire pit outside with equipment to cook over a fire if you choose. J and E have thought of everything so you really just need to bring food, clothes and a toothbrush and you're good to go. The owners J and E were great, on arrival they gave us a detailed brief on how everything worked and where everything was and then left us to enjoy the huge site on our own. J and E also produce excellent meat products and have details on where to buy fresh milk eggs and other local produce which are all excellent quality. There is a supermarket a few miles away in South Moulton down the narrow hedge lined lanes Devon is famous for if you need other supplies. Luckaboroug is perfect the kids can run free ,swim in a lake, cook on a fire, stay in a Yurt, eat local produce, sit in a hot tub after dark, roam around the woods, pick blackberries from the hedges and the list goes on.

We (Family of 3) tried one of the tents last year and elected to come back for more this summer. As a group of 6 adults and 2 children, we took over the site and all accommodation for a long weekend, and had a ball. The attention to detail is sensational and reinforces the truth that this is definitely "Glamping" and not a pale imitation like so many site are. The hosts are delightful and so very helpful, but the location itself, the swimming lake, the private woods. I could go on, but my last word is that the wood fired hot tubs were brilliant. Actually my last word is just going to be, brilliant.

Stayed for a long weekend in the Shepherds hut. An absolute delight. Stunning view over Exmoor with wonderful privacy and seclusion - and so much of our own space! Inside is gorgeous – so cosy with the little wood burner. Comfy bed, sumptuous linen and lovely interior décor. Every detail is superbly thought out. All the home comforts but so close to nature. Lots of care and thought into the eco products in the showers and quite lovely composting toilet! We actually stayed with a special group of friends who took up the 2 other pitches so spent time in those too. The yurt is incredible - the 2 kids loving the secret hobbit sleeping pod. (Love to try this one next time. Stargazer also looks fab) First night we all cooked outdoors in the big pot over the fire pit at the yurt and watched the shooting stars. Even the rain that came didn’t deter us from swimming and paddle boarding in the lake, walking in the woods and relaxing in all the hot tubs! Ems and J make you so welcome and are always on hand if you need anything – which we didn’t really except some lovely streaky bacon from their freezer. Only made one trip to the fab surf beach as we wanted to spend as much time around the lovely site. Will definitely be booking as a group again to make this a very special annual holiday. Bravo!

We stayed in the Lakeside Yurt, for 4 nights; this is the most glorious location crafted with true love and care. Every detail has been considered to make your stay relaxing and stress free. The lake is amazing my first time ever swimming with dragon flies escorting me! We cooked every night on the open fires there really is no need to hurry, relaxed on the enormous bean bags on the decking and attempted to stay awake long enough to see the stars rise. My only reservation in writing a review is that its such a magical place that you might not want too many people to know about it!! Thanks Em and J we will be back.

We stayed here last year and I believe the first to stay in the star Gazer. From booking to arriving the communication was brilliant and very informative. We honestly couldn't believe how lovely the site was and the star gazer was utterly wonderful, no photos could ever capture the true feel of it. The bed was so so comfy and we had 3 very good nights sleep. Everything is thought of, from matches to playing cards-really very well thought out. The kitchen area was just brilliant but to be honest we cooked on the fire pit every day and even cooked breakfast on it as we loved the experience so much. The toilets are great for a glamping site and hot water a plenty. There is a hut with a freezer and also fridge, and little lockers for you to charge your phones....but my advice-turn off your phones and just enjoy the beauty of Luckaborough. We booked again before we left to go back this year and I'm counting down the days, we are staying in the sheppards hut this time. I love how you feel completely alone and no-one walking past you all the time or the normal issues you get on a camping/glamping site- A truly amazing site, hosts and experience.

We stayed in the Lakeside Yurt which is the most amazing luxurious and magical space I think I have ever encountered. The yurt was so well appointed with everything we could have possibly required in terms of comfort, warmth, catering equipment and even games, and art materials all of the highest quality and absolutely spotless. It was a case of just add food and Relax! The main yurt has the most comfortable king sized bed but also has its own little annex sleeping pod area which our daughter loved, accessible by a fantastic 'hobbit' door from the main yurt, meaning she had her own private snug hidey hole each night. Outside there was a wide expanse of decking with our own herb garden (which made the camp fire meals even more tasty), composting loo, solar lights (to help get to and from in the evening), seating and a wood fired hot tub. We would start the fire mid afternoon and it was then toasty for a late afternoon session, after dinner session, and best of all, if topped up last thing at night was the perfect setting for having my post breakfast cup of tea in whilst watching the animals and birds around the lake! In terms of facilities, everything was so well thought out within the yurt, and then the external facilities at the main wash block with heated showers, flush loo, communal fridge, washing facilities and charging points for the tech. Our teenage daughter wasn't on the tech much though as she was more than happy outdoors in the woods, building a shelter out of branches, being shown the bee hives by J, having a dip in the lake and hunted for bugs quite happily- when we could get her out of the hot tub!. J & Ems are the perfect hosts, so welcoming and keen to ensure that you are well settled in. We really enjoyed our family time and sharing it with them too one evening when the joined us for one of our camp fire cook outs (and enjoyed some of their very tasty home reared sausages). All in all, this is probably the most relaxing holiday I have ever had, it totally stripped it all back to family time away from it all, but with all the creature comforts. Visit Luckaborough- its well worth it!

We stayed at Luckaborough farm last August from mon to fri in the lakeside yurt as a family of 5 with 3 boys aged 5 9 and 10. We had found Luckaborough camping completely by fluke when researching family camp sites close to Barnstaple as was down in Devon visiting family. We emailed to check availability and Em responded quickly to our enquiry providing us with lots of information about the site and surrounding area. Every email we sent prior to attending was answered promptly and we even got info about the best places to surf, local shops restaurants etc. Prior to arrival we arranged for a food shop to be delivered to Luckaborough which saved us having to pack the car with it all. Upon arrival we were greeted by the wonderful Em and Jay who proceeded to show us to pitch and gave us a guided tour of the site. Jay showed my husband the workings of the word burner and wood burner my hot tub (AMAZING!!!!) and once all questions were asked etc pretty much left us to it! The lakeside yurt is set up in its own field with plenty of space for the kids to run riot!! There is also a swimming lake which my boys loved!! They spend hours jumping in and out and we even brought a little inflatable dingy that they enjoyed rowing about it... The yurt itself is gorgeous...lovely big kingside bed with a sofa bed and separate little sleeping pod with bunk beds for the kids. There is a small oven and hob that you can cook on as well as the outdoor fire pit. All glasses utensils and pots/pans bedding towels are provided so you don’t need to bring anything...pretty much your clothes! The hot tub...what can I say about that?? Absolutely fabulous!! You honestly can’t imagine how lovely it was to sit in it in the dark staring at the stars after spending the evening cooking over an open fire and roasting marshmallow with the children....just absolutely magical... All wood for hot tub/fire pit is provided and there are wheelbarrows that you can use to transport wood to your yurt from the wood hut. There is hot showers and toilets facilities literally 50 yards from the yurt which are shared by the other pitches on the site as well as fridge freezers Washing up facilities and washing machines. Only thing we commented on was that a washing line would have been useful which I think Em and Jay said they would consider for the next season. They were brilliant as just left you to your own devices but were always there on hand if you need anything, fantastic hosts! Overall we had an incredible time!! It was so lovely to see my boys running about in the outdoors having fun, not once did they ask for an iPad or a tv!! They keep asking when we are going back to the yurt! We are definitely booking again for this year!! Thank you Em and Jay for setting up such a fantastic place and we will see you soon!
