Detailed Reviews
We managed to book at short notice for a mon - fri stay for a family of 4 inc 2 children aged 11 and 13. The cottage is ideally suited to accommodate 6 people but with our 2 at that teen stage we preferred they had their own rooms.
The location is remote but close enough to areas such as Aboyne, Lumphanan and Banchory to stock up or visit. We were greeted by Skye the friendly labrador who enjoyed a game of football with our youngest son. The barn was very clean and very spacious with lots of room for us all and superking beds in each of the three bedrooms. The kitchen is more than adequate for making meals and the log burner was a welcome addition.
There was a table and chairs for sitting at the front of the barn and a hot tub at the back. The hot tub was great and we made use of it every night we stayed.
We also met Boo (Skye's dad) who was lovely and enjoyed lots of claps. Both dogs were super friendly and very well behaved.
We really enjoyed our time at Cairnton and will probably look to book again nearer Xmas if travel isn't restricted. We would also love to stay in the summer to take full advantage of the views at the front of the property.

Dear Mickymoo, Thank you very much for your kind review. I'm pleased Skye and Boo behaved - they love having visitors to the farm as much as me ! You taking the time to write the review is very much appreciated, by us all, and especially so this difficult year. I am very pleased to hear that you are considering coming back to Cairnton, and surely there will be no more restrictions for us in Aberdeenshire. Thank you again. Cheers ! Ken

Just back from a stay in The Stables with family (4 adults, 1 child and a dog) and throughly enjoyed our short break. The location and cottage were perfect for our family. The under floor heating, log burner and of course the hot tub were a welcome addition after a day sledging after being snowed in unexpectantly!
Our wee dog especially loved our daily visits from Boo and Skye too. Such gentle dogs.
We loved the location of these cottages, set up in the hills with lovely views. Enjoyed having a wee walk down to see the cows on the farm too. Highly recommend these cottages for a quiet break.

Spent three nights here with my wife and dog and had a lovely time. Nice tranquil and peaceful location to relax with stunning views over the valley and a beautiful night sky. The farm shop produced some of the tastiest steaks we have tried, it was a pleasure to enjoy them on the private patio with the BBQ and hot tub. The owners and their dogs were very accommodating to our needs.
The Bothy itself is a very comfortable house to stay in with a wood burning stove I probably over-used. A full glass panoramic wall offers an amazing view over the valley and one particularly large bull.
The local countryside offers some great drives and walks with waterfalls and woodland trails to observe. Loads of local produce in the area and villages to explore.
We wish we'd had more time to spend here.

We had an excellent stay at Cairnton Farm cottages, it was a very relaxing few days. The hosts were very welcoming and a great mix between being on hand, and also leaving you to enjoy your cottage. The facilities are second to none and were very clean. There are lots to see and explore within a short drive of the farm, or you can start your day with a walk around the local country roads and a soak in the hot tub. Deeside is a great part of the country.

Stayed for 2 fabulous weeks in the byre. Was all ready for us on arrival with fresh hot tub all clean and tidy. Farmer Ken had a great selection of Aberdeen Angus steaks and pies and other meals available in the amply well stocked farm shop which includes great gin and other spirits from the lost loch distillery which you can also visit on site.
Margaret and Nicola catered for all our needs over the 2 weeks and pointed us in the right direction for restaurants etc although there Angus steak rolls are to die for.
Will definitely be booking another week or two later in the year. Fab place, 10/10

I have recently spent a wonderful week with my family in the stables at Cairnton farm cottages. It was extremely relaxing and such a friendly experience. I was with my two daughter and their family and also my granddaughter and her partner and three children who stayed in the byre cottage. We all had an amazing time. There is plenty of space in the cottages, also a wonderful hot tub and barbecue which we made use of. The location is fantastic, so far removed from traffic and the only noise to hear are farm noises(it is a working farm) we visited castles 🏰 Aberdeen theme park,we walked through woodland and went to an agricultural show. We would definitely stay there again, just wish it was a little bit nearer.

Lovely well equipped cottage with spectacular views. The cottage itself was very cosy with underfloor heating and 2 fireplaces, which we only used once. Our kids (8 and 5) enjoyed seeing all the animals and playing with games/jigsaws left in the bothy, while my husband and I enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. Lots of walks nearby to suit all. We can also highly recommend the steak pie, lasagne and steak from the local farm shop. Great place, already looking to book to go back later in the year.

The cottages are converted farm buildings and very characterful. It is a great place from which to explore Royal Deeside and is convenient for the Deeside Activity Park too. I loved my 4 days in the Bothy which is comfortable and has fantastic views from the triple aspect living room and south facing terrace. The private hot tub provided welcome relaxation after a day's walking. The owners, Farmer Ken and Margaret, made me very welcome and their two dogs are very friendly. I will definitely be booking again.

Just spent an amazing week at The Bothy. From the moment we walked in everything was wow. The view from the dinning room, the decked out hottub, the location, the cows and horses and everything. Argh, it was all just lovely!!
Farmer Ken and his gorgeous doggos in tow made sure we were utterly and completely happy in our little cottage.
Thanks everyone at Cairnton farm!!!
And strong recommendations to grab a steak roll from their activity park! Delish!!

We stayed at The Stables over the May Bank Holiday weekend and couldn't ask for a better weekend. Ken and Margaret have a gorgeous set up here, the house is lovely and spacious. The fire is ready for lighting and so cosy. The hot tube is brilliant for relaxing in after a day quad biking at the local Deeside Activity centre.
Can't ask for a better stay. Will be back and will recommend to friends and family.
