As we drove through the gates, we knew there was something wrong. The owner showed us pictures of the flooding but that was no excuse. Firstly, not enough had been done to repair the damage - there were sort of duckboards in the reception area. Secondly, the owner seemed unmoved by complaint that the place was nothing like that shown...

a castle and a cook you dive into an unknown past of charm, and strangeness, but its all on earth, and the cook (and owner) is going to prepare amazing food and will tell you about the secrets and more. not luxury, sth special. not ordinary, sth out of the world, find it and enjoy! not expensive!

This hotel is located in countryside where have several old French castles. I used a taxi from the Blois station and it took 20 mins and cost was around 25 Euros. In the house, a few halls and a dining room at ground floor. I had lunch and dinner at this hall. An owner cooked simple good French dishes. Really...

Stayed here 3 times now, 1st time in '91 when still a full restaurant and hotel. It remains a truly romantic glimpse into a historic small chateau. It's not luxurious, but is incredibly charming and atmospheric. Unspoilt and loved as an old building. Rooms are large, comfortable and homely. However it is very cheap for staying in a chateau, so...

Frédéric was a perfect host. He is really a nice and cool guy – we could talk for hours about his amazing cars and the way he maintain this house. The chateau is so amazing and authentic; Frédéric can show you old pictures of the place, from WWI and even earlier. All rooms have a view to the streaming river....

Do not expect a welcoming cup of tea from Frédéric the owner, but if you are longing to flee the crowds of Chambord, this is the place for you. The Chateau de Nanteuil is elegantly full of family memories. The room (Rose) we stayed in overlooks the River Cosson and we were rocked to sleep by the rippling river and...

During a recent romantic weekend away we discovered the chateau de Nanteuil by accident. We had a delightful stay in this 18th century family home, with its eclectic old world decoration of the rooms and view over little Cosson river .We decided to join the table d'hote dinner because we were very tired after visiting Chambord and didn't regret it: very...

The Chateau is very impressive. It is a large rambling building, in need of some renovation, and filled with endless treasures and interesting photographs. It is a wonderful building in an idyllic setting. The accommodation was adequate – large rooms, comfortable beds – but in need of refurbishment. It is in a good location. However, there were two aspects to...

My wife and I always stop over here on our way to and from our house further south; almost equidistant to Calais. A peaceful and green oasis full of unfussy, olde worlde charm. Frederique is a talented cock who knows his onions. No fancy presentation but wonderful home cooking with locally sourced, frequently organic ingredients from a chef who has...

We are big fans of the Alastair Sawday's French B&B guide, but were hugely let down by this recommendation. From the outside the chateau is lovely, as are its grounds. It is listed in the book due to its table d'hotes and, while the meal we had was lovely, it in no way made up for the surliness of the...
