Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived as soon as lockdown allowed the cabin was fantastic with great advice from the owner on cov-id precautions. This made us very at ease we a fantastic relaxing time. Hot tub was a great extra even with the weather not so hot. There is a couple of extra things the owners asked us to do before checking out all for cov-id precautions and hygiene. but this did not impact at all on a great staycation We can not fault anything with this location and have already booked for next year.

The lodge was perfect - clean and with everything we needed including dishwasher tablets, washing pods etc. which was a big help! The views from the living area were simply stunning, and the whole place felt calm and inviting; perfect for a rural getaway and like a home from home (but in a much nicer setting!).

Highly recommend Moonrise Lodges if you want a few days away to escape - the very rural setting is great for taking a breather, and the added bonus of the hot tub is perfect for relaxing.

Overall, a really positive experience - already hoping to plan a return!

We stay in Moonrise Lodges at least once a year so not coming for so long over the last hideous year has been such a challenge for us! What can I say.... There isn't anything we DON'T like about moonrise and we're hard to please! The VIEW from both Lodges is second to none, especially the spectacular sunset! The location is ideal if you need to feel like you're truly 'away'. There are some amazing walks around the local area and it is so peaceful you definitely feel well rested after a week. There are loads of great things for families in the area, and Caroline has lots of great ideas for things you can do. It's especially worth having National Trust membership. Powis Castle is within a 20min drive where you can see Deers and Peacocks wandering the spectacular grounds. Hawkstone Follies is less than an hours drive away and is definitely great for a full day out. Caroline and Jon are so hard working and truly deserve the accolades they receive for these luxury Lodges. It's the little touches that make it so worthwhile for us. From the farm tour which my kids look forward to no matter how many times we do it, homemade brownies on arrival and colouring sheets for the kids mean we will always come back year after year.

I stayed at Curlew Lodge for 2 nights at the end of November with friends for my 30th birthday. Caroline and Jon are lovely and so accommodating to make sure you have a lovely stay. They really go the extra mile! We only saw them a couple times when they were helping us with things and other than that we were left undisturbed. The lodge was beautiful, clean and very cosy. We opted to pay extra for the bbq hut and it was well worth it, it's beautifully decorated and we really enjoyed it. We spent the rest of the night in the hot tub which is perfectly situated underneath the stars. There is one other lodge on the grounds but its a decent distance away and I hardly even noticed it was there. It felt like we had miles and miles to ourself it was so peaceful and quiet. I couldn't have asked for a nicer weekend and I would definitely return. I've recommended it to everyone I've mentioned it to.

Our second stay in the lodges within 8 months. The lodges are very well equipped with lovely comfy beds and crisp white bed linen, beautiful soft towels too. It's a great base, we could just step out and find so many local walks or take the car for a bit of exploring. Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful. Can fully recommend if you want a romantic break, sipping a glass of bubbles from the hot tub whilst watching the sun set. Thank you again.

We stayed in the Curlew lodge, two couples, well equipped, clean, comfortable with wonderful views. The lodges are quite isolated, thats what we wanted, with a 10 min drive to the nearest pub. Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Montgomery all within a half hour drive with some nice places to eat. Additionally there is a small, well stocked trout lake, Brook & Rainbow trout, a 10 min walk away, great fun on a light fly rod.
A very enjoyable break for us all, Caroline and Jon are great hosts and were always helpful and obliging if we ever needed anything.

This is THE most amazing place we've stayed. The lodge is massive, has everything you could possibly want and need, the hot tub is just perfection, the views are stunning, the beds are so comfy, it's so clean! Your in the middle of nowhere so its so so quiet. The icing on the cake of a mum of 3 was the dishwasher and the washing machine with the pods to use them with too. Thank you! Our older boys loved running wide and the lake was their fave place, and our little girl loved the veranda watching the dogs when it was hot tub chemical time. We definitely recommend staying here and we have to all our family and friends too. Our family needed the break and it has definitely given us all the r&r we all needed. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

We've just returned from 2 very rainy stormy nights here. The lodge was beautiful and views are stunning. The hosts are excellent but just leave you to it which is exactly what you want. The local pub is 25 min walk and they were extremely welcoming also. The hot tub was a bonus, just wish we'd got to use it more!! Would most certainly visit again. Thank you to our hosts!

We spent four wonderful days here in April. The lodge is very well equipped and having the hot tub on the deck was just brilliant! The kitchen has everything you need, and with table and chairs on the deck you can eat outside too. We enjoyed a great local walk to see the stone circle and on to Stapeley Hill, an afternoon drive to Montgomery to visit the old castle and have tea and cake, a walk up Stiperstones to scramble on the rocks, roasting marshmallows over our own little fire pit, but our favourite was swimming in the local lake just a short walk from the lodge. Waking up to bird song every morning and no traffic noise was wonderful, we feel thoroughly refreshed and would definitely visit again!

Beria and I needed a break and a location filled with lots to do and see but far enough away from the busy life to be able to relax and enjoy the child in us .
This is the place .
Have fun lighting your firepit .
Soak the day away in the hot tub.
Enjoy your dinner .
Pour the wine
Enjoy the breathtaking views
Sit and be still .
Hear the wildlife all around you
We just listened like we had never listened before .
The birds settling down at evening time .
We watched the sunsets over panoramic views .
The hosts are very discretely available to help .
This place is a find .
Alan and Beria
