We arrived very late after getting the train from bangkok. We took a chance and got a tuk tuk to the Market Motel before crossing the border to Cambodia the following morning and it was a very pleasant place to stay. We paid 750 thb for an ensuite room with a double, and single bed with air conditioning. The room was really clean and had a nice hot shower.

We had a lovely meal at the restaurant in the evening - the thai food in particular was delicious and prices were very reasonable. The staff and owner were also really friendly and even got their wooden carved tractor 'rocking horse' out for our son while we had dinner!

All in all a lovely experience and would definetly recomend.

My rating is relative to the price-point of the motel (500 baht for superior double) and its location in a small border city. The Market Motel offers a great option if you have to stop in Aranyaprathet. Room was clean, neat, and in good order. Fridge was a great bonus! Bed was fairly hard, but this is Asia. The pool was excellent and very welcome after a day of travel. Extensive menu at the restaurant and we enjoyed both the meals that we had there. Friendly staff, with a little bit of English. Free wifi at this grade of motel was an extra bonus!

i have stayed here quite a few times and enjoy the area and turn a 1 day stay into a few extra days each time i travel .when i looked at the reviews i cant believe there are so many travel snobs .there are 50 dollar rooms elsewhere instead of the whinge ,i love it here its clean and quiet and the woners are friendly and speak english what more could you ask for ,want silver room service not the place for you but really this town is not a tourist mecca its a transit point so be a little realistic .if you travelling by here you are most likely a back packer or visa extender so why the pretense ....i hope to be dropping by in a few months on my way to phnom penh again good travels jon .b

Have just spent three weeks at the Market Motel, and am hard-pressed to find fault with this great little place. Sure, the rooms are basic - what do you expect for the equivalent of £50 a week? - but are clean, spacious, and come equipped with air-con, fan, fridge and hot shower. The restaurant menu is varied, the food delicious, and the staff are unfailingly hard-working, happy and friendly. You're never going to get 5-star luxury in a budget hotel (despite what some reviewers seem to think), but if your expectations are more realistic, this is a great place to stay.

The place is well located and clean. Furniture is basic, here and there a screw is missing or a towel holder a bit waggly, but the Superior room for 550 baht is still very good value. It's absolutely quiet, no street noise whatsoever, and the pool is very clean and well kept. Staff is friendly and efficient by Thai standards.

The pool (with slide) was a refreshing tropical oasis after 6 hours on the slow (and hot) train from Bangkok.
The room was spacious (family room-down the end near the little playground).
The restaurant food was well priced and had a good selection.
Hard beds (not an issue for us).

Our main issue was Check-in. It was not smooth and the staff were not friendly. We booked through agoda and had to prove our booking.

Don't try to walk from the station unless you have only a backpack.

My friend and I were doing a cycling trip around Sakao Province and we decided to stay at Market Motel . It happened to be a lucky choice as the rooms were spacious ,clean ,well-appointed and most importantly : quiet . As a bonus there was a swimming pool and they also have a good restaurant where we ate twice .
A nice haven in a busy border town !

I've stayed here 4 or 5 times in the past couple of years and am always blown away by the courtesy and general eagerness to please of the staff (who are amazingly hard-working), the variety of the menu, the cleanliness of the facilities and the overall value for money on offer. Shirley and team do a brilliant job and I would recommend to anyone.

Definitely a good value place...for the cheap room rate (330 baht for fan room, 440 baht for aircon room) you get a big room, complete with fridge, flatscreen, hot shower, wifi...there's even a swimming pool, a real bonus in this price range! A simple breakfast is included too, a bowl of chicken rice soup and coffee...
Only point of criticism is the clueless staff, our pre-dinner order of drinks (a couple of beers and simple cocktails) took forever and had to be repeated several times...based on that we decided to eat outside, so I can't rate their restaurant

Response from Jake L, Owner at Market Motel
Responded 16 Feb 2015
Thank you for your review, your compliments are much appreciated, guests that expect 4 or 5 star accomodation for 300 or400 Bacht cause me a lot of sleepness nights, and they seem to be better at writing reviews than most of our satisfied guests. We try our best. As to your experience in the Restaurant, I offer my apologies. Since the political problems in Thailand , our business has suffered a great deal, we've had to cut back on staff, we are getting to the point where closing or curtailing the restaurant hours are under consideration. Hopefully things will improve soon. We want our guests to be happy and satisfied, language is sometimes a problem, Shirley and I cannot always there, but if you need help ask the reception staff to phone me, I'm usually not far away.

Just a few minutes drive from the hustle and bustle of the massive market, this hotel offers a welcoming respite. The layout is similar to that of a resort and the rooms are more like chalets. Booking in is easy and all the staff are very helpful.
There are a wide range of features to entertain all ages including a clean outdoor swimming pool, a table tennis table and a pool table.
But the best thing one can recommend about The Market Hotel has to be the excellent restaurant which caters for all tastes at a very reasonable price. The complimentary breakfast is basic, but the restaurant more than compensates.
The rooms are simply furnished, yet clean, with plenty of seating space outside to relax.
There are many shops and food stores nearby as well as a very good local food market.
The Market Hotel is a convenient place to stay. The only issue being that it can be difficult to locate without a map or prior knowledge of the area.
