This was our 2nd time staying at KokosNuss. The previous time was back in March, and we stayed 21 nights that time. This time we stayed 18 nights. Can't speak highly enough of the staff and the food. We were even invited to, and took part in, the staff Xmas party !! Such a fun night. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Prior to starting this review, i read some previous reviews, and i have to say, most of the negative ones are either without foundation completely, or were written by overly pretentious people. It's island accommodation, it's cheap by western standards, yet some people seem to expect 5 star luxury for $40 -$50 a night ? Please, be serious people ! In any case, we booked a 3 week stay at KokosNuss, and our positive opinion of the place started before we even checked in ! Applied for the S-Pass twice before leaving Australia, the 2nd time being immediately before boarding our flight to Manila. Was rejected both times, reason unknown. On arrival in Manila, it was supposed to be a few hours in a hotel then a morning flight to Coron, but we still didn't have an S-Pass, and i was at a loss as to what to do. As a last resort, and out of desperation, i messaged KokosNuss to tell them of the issue. Keep in mind that by this time, it was around 11.30pm. Luckily for us, Alma was the one who responded, and assured us that she would get it sorted on our behalf, and she said to check our S-Pass account by 6.30am. Sure enough, when i checked at around 6.30, the S-Pass was approved. Alma was an absolute angel and our saving grace. Staying up to nearly midnight to help us out ! I/We can't speak highly enough of Alma, and she is the epitome of true customer service. After a stressful night with the S-Pass situation, we finally arrived at KokosNuss the next morning, and were greeted by really friendly staff. We were shown to our room, with staff taking our suitcases and backpacks for us which was nice of them. The room itself was quite nice, with a big bed, and the bathroom was a tastefully decorated room, separate to the bedroom. One of the first things we needed was a good shower, and while the water wasn't hot, and the pressure wasn't great, it did the job for sure. We sat down for dinner that first night, and when our ordered meals arrived, i was gobsmacked by the serving sizes. I've travelled extensively around Asia (and the rest of the world) and nowhere have i been, particularly in Asia, where the serving sizes are a huge as at kokosNuss. Eateries/Cafes/Restaurants around Asia typically have serving sizes akin to what the locals would eat themselves, and as we know, Westerners/Europeans tend to eat bigger meals than Asian people, so you tend to order more to compensate. No need at KokosNuss, the meals are massive ! (and the range is good) Not only are they massive in serving size, they are all freshly prepared and cooked, hence why some reviews mention having to wait a while for your order. To have a freshly prepared and cooked meal, I’m quite happy to wait that little bit longer. In terms of value, the meals are really well priced, especially considering that you won’t finish any of the meals still feeling hungry. The next morning (our first full morning at KokosNuss) we ventured downstairs to the Al Fresco meals area for breakfast, and I mentioned to Alma about the water pressure in the room, and she moved us to a bigger family room upstairs. For breakfast, we had a pot of freshly brewed coffee and plate sized Banana Pancakes. Both of which were really good. While having breakfast, a little Filipino girl, all of 3 years old, started chatting to us in near perfect English. She told us her name, and was proud to tell us what the colour of things were, how many siblings she had and their names etc. A very chatty and smart little girl for her age. It turns out that she is Alma’s daughter. Over the course of our stay, we saw the little girl every morning at breakfast, and every night at dinner. When one of us wasn’t there, she would ask where the other one was. Such was how used to us she became as she got to know us. Interacting with her was one of the highlights of our stay for sure. Aside from Alma, and the owner Bhaves, all other staff were really nice people and looked after us well. Always friendly and smiling, and making sure we had what we needed. True Filipino hospitality is how I would describe it. All in all, I’d rate KokosNuss a solid 3.5 star across the board. Like I said earlier, KokosNuss accommodation is basic but perfectly fine, so please don’t go there expecting everything to be 5 star or beyond. The food is excellent, as is the staff, the well maintained pools were really enjoyable on the super hot days, and it’s a very easy 10 min walk into town. The only 2 suggestions I could make would be that they look into how to get water pressure to the showers, and consider re-introducing the ability to settle bills by EFT. Apart from those 2 minute things, we really enjoyed our stay at KokosNuss, and can’t wait to go back !

This is a delightful resort with a large garden and pool area. It is quiet, friendly, and close to town. This hotel is a great place to relax and to use as a home base for your tour schedule. It is close to town but doesn’t feel like it is in the noisy town. Positives: The large garden and beautiful pools are relaxing and fun. There are many hammocks and chairs for relaxing. The breakfast is delicious, with good brewed coffee and decent selection. The omelets and fresh-baked bread are a great start to the day There is also a McDonald’s just a block away. The rooms are clean and have porches or balconies for enjoying the garden and beautiful paintings on entire walls. The Type 4 VIP Room is large and has 1 queen, 1double and 1 twin. Very nice space for a family to relax in and play card games. Many rooms have Aircon and some are fan rooms. Needs Improvement: Housekeeping - We stayed 6 nights and the room was only cleaned twice. The 2nd time we requested the room to be made up. For the kids, the mattresses were fine. For the adults in their 40s, the mattresses were hard because they are not real mattresses but are the thick foam pads. We would stay here again and recommend it for all types of travelers. There are many international travelers here and also Filipino guests. The hotel is close to town: 15 minute walk. Or, about a 20 peso/pax tryke ride. Calamian tours picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. Very convenient. The hotel staff keep track of their arrival and come get you in your room if you’re not in the common area.

This slightly out of town resort has nice gardens and pool with rooms arranged around this central area. It is a German/Filipino partnership, with the staff being very friendly, although communication was sometimes a little difficult. The rooms vary quite a lot, from a spacious triple to a bizarrely themed princess palace bungalow. Food was good, although some of the menu seemed to be unavailable whilst we were there. It was nice to be out of town, and it was easy to get in with a trike being only 15 pesos per person each way

The staff were very helpful for the information that we need. The Garden room itself is fine, but a bit small for two. Drinking Water is provided in the lobby, so you have to have a bottle to get it. The only bad thing is Coron is that everything has to be paid by cash, so make sure that you have enough cash with you!! It was generally a nice place to stay.

Myself and my friends (we were a group of 11) were on a flight that got cancelled. this meant we had to find a place to stay for the night. Thankfully Kokosnuss had rooms for us. Super lovely accommodating staff and a perfect fit for our needs for the night.

Honestly location great, even the hotel itself it’s not the worse but there is something which ruin everything. The main lady from the reception it’s really not the best host . Her attitude doesn’t fit to the hospitality. Obviously wifi bad, food not the best but mattress was great 👍 and the balcony was cool. Oh be ready to pay the deposit when you arrive and also there is no gym as they are saying in the hotel. Gym is not far away, maybe 200m away and you need to pay something. It’s not much, just the information on the website it’s not really true. I wouldn’t go there again but we all have different experience

Pleasant garden area surrounded by a variety of rooms. Attention to detail is the only thing the place is lacking, otherwise a pleasant stay. We had a large family room to the two of us, so there was of course a lot of space. I liked the spacing and layout - there was lots of empty area, not every square meter stuffed full of needless furniture. The feeling that you are not cramped into a cubicle was wonderful. The food is probably the most unexpected delight we encountered - the quality was very good and the portions were large. We tried different dishes and were always very satisfied. Definitely worth eating in instead of going to the town! The room was equipped with excellent ventilation and AC. The former can be a rarity in the philippines, where many hotels do not want to let in outside air. Here, you could open the entire room for airflow and let in that cool evening air. I recommend using the AC only during the midday when it is warmest - this provided a very pleasant atmosphere. The garden has seating areas, swings, hammocks and a rather nice pool. Lots of room to spend time relaxing or resting. What the place lacks is attention to detail. Just a pile of small things that if taken care of would take it to the next level. Let me list a few: * They offer free drinking water refills, as is expected, but the water dispenser was absolutely filthy. I think nobody had wiped it clean in months. * The same water refill dispenser was behind a locked door so only availale while the kitchen was open. When I wanted water during late evening, there was nowhere to get it from. * I saw the cleaning crew cleaning neighboring rooms but nobody cleaned our room for the 3 days we spent there. This just stood out as a shoddy job. * While the garden has a lot of nice hammocks, most of them were very much stretched out, so you ended up right on the ground if you sat in them. * They had an extensive menu but seemed not to have half the things in stock. I should not be thinking "oh they probably do not also have that" when I read a menu. Change the menu if you cannot ensure a good supply.

I stayed here with my girlfriend and another couple, we had a family room here which suited us perfectly. The hotel itself is family run which gives a great little touch to it, it was also incredibly well looked after. The hotel is just nearing the end of Coron town centre, but they offer a trike to travel in to Cordon tow centre for 15 pesos per person i think, which is incredibly reasonable. The location was great as it was never an issue getting to and from the centre. I would advise renting bikes as they are pretty cheap and this way you never have to wait around. Each room there is named after a family member, I'm unsure of the name of ours but it was super spacious and welcoming, decorated in vibrant colours and again suited us perfectly. The hotel offers a nice cool swimming pool in the centre of the resort which is cleaned and looked after daily. The food served at the resort was also delicious, without sounding rude, i didn't expect much but was incredibly surprised with all the food i tried, especially the banana pancakes. The staff are super friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us, anything we asked for was sorted by them immediately, they were very courteous. The resort also offer an airport shuttle each day, i cannot remember how much it was but again, super reasonable. Would definitely stay here again, top place.

Nice compound just outside Coron proper with pool, big rooms, plants and garden. Open eating area with attentive friendly staff - not overly excited though. Clean rooms, good food. Owners taste is a bit kitschy, with German flags all over the place but I could have guessed with that resorts name... all in all it feels a bit outdated. We stayed two nights before going on a five days island hopping trip and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere there.
