Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staff were exceptionally friendly when we needed help in extremis having found our booked accommodation in glamping pods owing much to the 19th century and toileting in medieval times. Nice comy room and cracking breakfast supplied. We stayed for dinner on Saturday night which was excellent. I would thoroughly reccomend the hotel for friendly helpful staff. It's not the Ritz, don't expect that but as a friendly wee country hotel it's cool. ps the drink is priced just nice!

Rooms are AWFUL! Bed sheets were covered in stains (it was either make up or blood) praying it was make-up! didn’t fit the bed either. Carpet had stains/straightener burns and it wasn’t even hovered. Towels had stains all over it. Curtains didn’t even reach the bottom of the window so they were pointless. We are dog lovers but on arrival we were greeted by a dog on the reception table growling and barking. The poor young girl working there was terrified of him! Only good side is the food and restaurant is lovely! It’s honestly just needs a good make over - new sheets/towels/carpets - better greeting on arrival (Didn’t even offer to help my 79 year old granny with her bag up the steep stairs)

Really enjoyed our stay due to the hospitality and warmth of the owners and their team. The hotel has real history and was a perfect base to explore these magical islands. Breakfast was amongst the best I have ever had and we had three really good evening meals. We enjoyed the guest lounge and the local’s bar where we were overwhelmed by the warmth of people who appreciated us coming after the ferry fiasco which has cost local businesses so dearly. In summary I can’t recommend it more highly.

Great hotel, lovely helpful staff. We took our two dogs very dog friendly, we could take the dogs into most areas of the hotel. Fantastic view from our room. Room was clean and bed very comfortable, lots of room for dog beds and a big bathroom. Food was excellent - we had breakfast and evening meals for three days and each meal was excellent. Sea food and pies . We stayed when there was a Bar quiz . Very friendly locals The beaches and walking were amazing. A lot of wild life. Road mostly single carriageway with passing places, did not feel held up at anytime.

This hotel has seen better days and is in need of considerable investment. It was built in 1888, adjacent to the jetty at Lochboisdale, and was clearly built to take guests arriving on the ferry. Clearly, the withdrawal of Caledonian Macbrayne ferry service this summer has inflicted enormous damage on this business and others on South Uist. Nevertheless, the hotel is clean and the quality of the food was very good both for breakfast and dinner, and the staff were very friendly. The sea views from my room were stunning.

I called here for coffee while cycling in that area. Lovely coffee and very reasonable price. Called again that evening had some drinks and enquired about getting my ebike battery recharged. No problem and charged it overnight. No charge for the overnight charging. Had a lovely breakfast. Very friendly staff. I would highly recommend the Lochboisdale Hotel

Dirty, damp, smelly and basically needs pulling down. Reception embarrassing and hardly a place to introduce guests. Bed sheets dirty, pillows dirty and towels dirty. Carpet like something out of an episode of Colombo minus the white lines around the body. Basically HORRENDOUS.
