In the heart of the Alto Alentejo, lost in time near the village of Vaiamonte, you will find this real treasure. There once was a tower here that reached up to the sky and gave this place its name. The views from its ramparts could not be more idyllic. At dusk the sun slowly sets and lights up the sky, painting it pink and orange, leaving us with the peace that is typical of the Alentejo landscape

Our junior suite is very good even though at full price I would have felt ripped off, fortunately we had a 3 night for 2 offer!
Some aspects of the suite were definitely not 5 star! The bed was nothing short of uncomfortable, I was amazed that I had to climb in to a bath for a shower, even though the shower was excellent. The soap and shampoo dispensers seemed like they were bought from the local supermarket!
The breakfast that was served at your table was plentiful but a bit the same, especially by the third morning.
The restaurant for dinner was no better than average at a relatively high price. Needless to say, we only ate there on the first night even though other restaurants were up to 30 minute drive from the hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the setting is stunning, a couple of kms up a dirt track.
We quite enjoyed our stay even though the weather was unkind.

This was our first hotel venture post Covid lockdown, and for sure we were a bit nervous. But the staff was extremely professional and appropriately cautious, the facilities were very clean, and we felt very safe and secure. Not to mention it is a gorgeous property and great wine and delicious food. We would definitely go back.

If you’re looking for a beautiful setting and luxurious comfort in the middle of wine country, stay at the Torre de Palma. We booked 2 rooms for my parents and my husband and I, and we only wish we could’ve stayed longer.

The rooms are gorgeous, comfortable, and well-appointed. The staff go out of their way to provide the best service possible. Complimentary glass of wine at sunset on top of the tower (see photo). The grounds - vineyards and olive trees as far as the eye can see - may be explored by bicycle, on foot, or horseback. There is a large (but chilly) pool outdoors, and a warmer plunge pool indoors close to the spa. The food is superb as well. We ate dinner and breakfast at Basili. I ended up buying several bottles of olive oil to bring home to the United States.

As others have noted, there are ancient Roman ruins (from the 1st century A.D.) a short walking distance from the hotel, which were discovered in 1947 when a farmer’s plough hit stone in one of the mosaics. We went on our own to view the mosaics (see photos).

We would love to come back to Torre de Palma someday and stay again!

The hotel provided us with everything we wanted from the week-end and more ...
Very welcoming staff and owner, giving us all we support we needed for what we intended to do - the 30Kms walk around Monforte.
The hotel facilities also allowed us to spend time relaxing after the walk, in the indoor pool and by the fireplace in the room with a bottle of wine to celebrate the birthday.
The hotel location has great views and the hotel grounds are very well cared for.
The wine tasting was very good and informative and the Adega beautiful. The enologist has a real passion for his wine.
We also enjoyed all the meals and wine we had in the restaurant.

Amazingly beautiful location, the buildings, even the interior decoration of all places was taken care of down to the last detail, very artistic and creative.
Very nice and spacious room, again very stylishly furnished.
Very quiet location in the middle of the vineyards.
Culinary delights and wine tasting in the restaurant. Breakfast was served at the table and always a wide choice from a breakfast menu.
Super friendly staff.
Nice swimming pool, always space and plenty of towels.
Bar where you can enjoy lighter meals and drinks practically all day long.

We had a wonderful stay at the Torre de Palma. The service was exceptional and we very much appreciated a room upgrade based on our Marriott status, which was beautiful and very spacious. The hotel offers various activities including free bikes to explore the property and surrounding area. We also participated in a wine blending workshop, which allowed us to create our own bottle of red blend to take home! Our guide for this experience was fabulously knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the winemaking process. The food at the hotel restaurant was Michelin star quality, and we also enjoyed the poolside food and drink service. Overall, we loved that our stay allowed us to experience the Portuguese countryside and enjoy a luxury hotel experience outside of the major tourist areas. We hope to come back for future visits!

We stayed for two nights in this beautiful, quirky hotel. It has been restored to a very high standard and the public areas are really outstanding. The first room we stayed in (16) was stunning but unfortunately the floorboards in the room above were very creaky which made for a broken night’s sleep. The staff could not have been more helpful the following morning and changed us to one of the junior suites in the courtyard. Very quirky decor but really nice.
The restaurant Basilii is outstanding. The food and the service were really first class. We ate one lunch and two dinners and found the experience exceptional.
My one complaint about the hotel is the quality of the bikes available for use. The bike I had didn’t have gears and didn’t seem that well maintained. My husband’s had limited gears but also didn’t seem well maintained. A shame given the excellent standard of everything else in the hotel. That’s said, we will definitely make a return trip when we can.

We did the lunch and visit to the wine cellar.
The wine expert was great and provided lots of detail and answered all our questions.
The grounds are beautiful and everything is well kept.
In the cellar we were shown to a room that is still being built and was used as a warehouse at the moment.

The visit was followed by lunch in the restaurant and while the menu was interesting and the wines well paired, the food came lukewarm, given the restaurant was almost empty this is something the kitchen can control.

Overall the visit was OK and the lunch was fine but at €70 person plus admin fee the expectation was higher.
Maybe it was an off day.

We really enjoyed our two night stay here. The property is beautiful, the service is friendly, and the food at the restaurant is delicious.

My only gripe was the really bad massage my partner and I received at the spa. For 80 euros I would expect a great massage - unfortunately, all the masseuse did was uncomfortable rub/pat/tug our bodies. This was not a Deep Tissue Massage.

However, we will surely be back. One of our best stays in Portugal :)

The rooms are a little basic. That is were the bad stuff ends. Service was amazing. Food was amazing. Wine - you guessed it - was amazing. The pool is a nice spot to waste a day, or two, helped by the great service bringing more of the great wine (the house rose goes great with watching the nesting storks). If the guilt about doing nothing gets overpowering, there are some Roman ruins 5 mins walk away.
