All rooms newly renovated! Free WIFI internet now available! Located directly behind The Beach Bar, all bedrooms come with en suite facilities and colour television in the rooms, as well as a large family room that sleeps 6 people..........The Beach Bar caters for an eclectic mix of visitors all year round. When you walk through the door, you will feel you are in a place that has not changed much over the centuries, yet it has something to suit all tastes. From the thirsty surfers just off the waves, to the tourists seeking out an other-worldly Irish experience, to the young 21 year olds looking for somewhere with character to host their 21st birthday parties, there is a welcome waiting for all. Good food, regular music sessions, draught Guinness and a beer garden with a view are the obvious attractions. More hidden, but can be sensed everywhere in the place, is the history of the Beach Bar......

My husband, myself and two kids both under the age of 4 had lunch here after a dip, walk and play at Dunmoran Strand which was our local beach for our 12 night stay in Sligo. We had investigated the Beach Bar previously but hadn't stopped as it was very busy and we had already eaten that day. Today, we had no booking and secured a table easily but it became progressively busier over time. We asked for a highchair and received kids menus and menus for ourselves. I ordered 1 x kid's portion of the chicken curry with poppadoms and mashed potato instead of the listed rice for the 2 kids to share at €5. It was a huge portion for a child and fed my two easily with plenty left over for mammy and daddy to savour also. My husband and I shared an excellent chowder with a delicious homemade brown bread €6.50 and a main course of fish and chips served with homemade tartar sauce, salad and coleslaw @€17.00 which was fairly good. We ordered a pint of Miwadi for the driver (no charge), glass of white wine @€6.50 & 2 glasses of milk for the kids : €1 in total. Very reasonable overall especially for the kids. Chowder was a highlight and portions were very decent indeed. We left satiated. Would recommend a detour here from N59. Aughris head coastal walk is nearby and there is a beach here also with views of Coney Island and Ben Bulben. Camping is also an option or you can stay here or nearby self-catering.

We had a meal here (lunch) while holidaying in Sligo, 2 adults, 2 children. Food was nice but setting even nicer. We ordered the seafood cold plate which was lovely and fresh. Great options for kids. Really liked the idea of a snack plate for children. Overall food was of a good standard and reasonably priced. Only drawback was they mixed up order and brought out an adult burger instead of a kids burger. The bill was also wrong with 2 extra meals and a drink on it that we had not ordered but when pointed out the waitress soon rectified it. We then sat out with drinks out on the picnic benches as the sun came out. Stunning setting. Would recommend to others.

Went to Aughris Head on the basis of TA reviews as my husband and I were staying in Mullaghmore. Aughris Head was no was no great shakes but the Beach Bar provided a warm welcome to the ever changing October weather. All COVID19 measures were adhered too in a non-evasive way as the friendly the staff welcomed us. Beer was cold and food was hot - both of us had chicken curry (half and half) which was very tasty and the portions were so enormous that we couldn’t finish them. Everything was spotless including the loos. Lovely traditional style pub for a drink and a bite

We were soooo looking forward to our visit to the Beach Bar. It came highly recommended by fellow swimmers. Doors opened at 12pm and we were met with a grunt and not a word of a friendly greeting. Very sour, grumpy barman. Ordered a double espresso with hot milk and was charged €5.00! When I questioned the high price I was told that a coffee costs €2.50 so a double was €5.00 (really?? I've never been charged more than €3.50 anywhere and that's in a 5* hotel). I refused to pay that ridiculous price and after a 'whatever' from the barman, we settled on €3.00 (and even at that it wasn't worth it - watery weak espresso). One other member of the group ordered a cappucino and it also was watery and tasteless. We were at all times polite but felt that the service was so unfriendly and it was an altogether downright unpleasant experience. We decided to forgo lunch after the swim. Very disappointing but we agreed that we were not going to accept this level of service. I know there's lots of outstanding reviews for the Beach Bar but I would never go back and would not recommend it. The barman on that day could have been having a particularly bad day but he's representing the bar and should have put his grumpiness and unpleasantness behind him. I dread to think what the foreign tourists behind us thought of his behaviour.

when you just start work and your first person is someone like you, its hard deal with. I didnt even get a chance to be grumpy that was more of a shocked state i was in, thats why i just moved on to the next person . Its the like of you that is making it impossible for the service industry to find staff, all you left for your double coffee was 2 euro 10 cent. I would love to put the like of you in our job for a day id say you would be great with people { smile face }. But never the less thanks for taking time out of your busy life to spread your negativity.

If you fancy a pint, accompanied by delicious food, in a fabulous location with wonderful views...then I reckon your at The Beach Bar !!
Greeted by friendly staff and handed a menu that caters for all tastes..had the pleasure of eating outside this class establishment basking in the summer sun !! The views on a clear day are breathtaking !!
On a typically Irish day (rain) this restaurant & bar is well spaced and quaintly laid out.
The seafood chowder was delicious accompanied by a homemade bread that was out of this world.
It is a lovely spot & highly recommended, looking forward to a return visit as soon as possible !!!

Frankly I am surprised there has been no review written for Aughris House since 2020. So I am here to make that right!

I found Aughris House by chance last week as I was looking for accommodation in the area. I was travelling on public transport, so I was grateful that they arranged to pick me up at the bus stop about 7 km away. For free!
My en-suite room looked out on sea. Perfect!
Although I was left to myself once I was shown my room, the staff were more than helpful when needed. Breakfast was tasty, and portions generous.
No shops, nothing in the area, only the Beach Bar owned by the same family as Aughris House. This was perfect for me. I could get meals as needed but otherwise, I could focus on enjoying the area, the sea, the walks nearby.

Aughris House would be perfect for small families, or people, pairs or individuals, who ´want to get away from it all´without travelling very far to get away!
I will be back. Thank you.

Popped in for lunch on the way back from Sligo, asked what the fresh fish was today for the fish and chips, told it was Haddock. Fish that came was in a very suspicious perfect triangle with breadcrumbs on, come on stop kidding us if you take a piece of triangle shaped fish out of the freezer and try and "cod" us its fresh fish then cut it out. Chips nice, plenty of theatre with coleslaw and salad, but fresh fish and chips, give me a break. €16 for frozen deep fried triangle of fish out the freezer is a con trick, great location etc but food decidedly pub food average

Beach Bar was charming, local music very entertaining, food was delicious and staff was most helpful.

Aughris House was very disappointing, and it needs some serious love. The beds were creaky and we could feel springs ready to poke through. The pillows were flat, paint missing off the armoire cabinet. The shower curtain didn't go to floor, so complete bathroom flooring was wet after shower. There wasn't soap in the bathroom.

In the morning, we sat at the table for breakfast in the dining room, to discover our table had a dirty plate with jelly smeared on it.

The view of the ocean/mountains were beautiful, but I'm not sure I'd stay here again.

Arrived mid afternoon on Bank Holiday Sunday. It was busy, ordered from the window and then found a seat. Food was super tasty, chowder and prawns for me and prawn and salmon salad for my partner. Everything arrived hot, treacle bread was a treat. All washed down with a Guinness. Would recommend and go back when the chance arises again. Not overpriced either.. €40 for chowder, starter of fried panko prawns, prawn and salmon salad and 2 pints. Good value. Staff were efficient and very friendly.

Beautiful drive to get here! The beach is spectacular! We loved the pub with the thatched roof. The servers were very friendly and the food was great! The B&B was very nice, with beautiful views of the beach from the front. The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice. Breakfast was in a room in the front, so we could look at the beach and the mountains in the background. We were lucky that morning as the sun was shining, which didn't happen much during our 2 week stay! Breakfast was very good and quickly served. We would definitely recommend The Beach Bar/Aughris House.
