We loved the comfort of the gite, its tranquillity and beautiful setting. The babbling brook, church bells and birdsong started each day. We ventured into the Lot region with guidance from our very helpful hosts and experienced many local wonders including the Gouffre de Padirac and beautiful villages that were all within an hour's drive. Highly recommended.

Although we stayed in May, 2004, TripAdvisor made me pick a more recent date in order to publish this review. This review is quite late in coming! In May of 2004, my mother Marilyn (then age 79) and I spent three weeks in France for her "trip of a lifetime". After the rigors of traveling overseas, we spend a week settling into France and its culture at Chez Ming. It was a wonderful visit, and my mother spoke fondly of the Mings and their hospitality until her death in 2018. We had such a wonderful time in the Lot, and drove our rental car out and about every day to visit various sites. Chez Ming is a wonderful place to use as a home base for such activities. We always ate lunch out but then returned to the gite to make a light dinner. My mother's favorite place was Pech Merle. We toured the caves and saw the 29,000 year-old paintings first-hand. This is an authentic cave, not a reproduction, and should not be missed! Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and Cahors were other favorites. Eddie and Michele, if you read this - thank you so much for helping my mother and I have such a wonderful trip. Your hospitality was sincerely appreciated. She remembered you often, and always scolded me for not sending you a Christmas card! Linda

Dear Linda, Only just came across your belated review, which is very much appreciated. Sorry tto hear of your Mum Marylin passing away. If we recall correctly, on the day of your arrival she gave us a bit of a scare by tripping on the coffee table but fortunately she was not hurt! We are so delighted to hear that you had/have such good memories of your visit. After such a long time we can’t really picture you but remember your visit well. With very best wishes and kind regards Eddie & Michele

The perfect gîte in the perfect village with the perfect hosts. I know this sounds over the top and of course nothing is perfect, but really Chez Ming is about as good as it gets. Affordable, too! The kitchen has everything you need for any food preparation you want to do, and the bakery, corner grocery, tabac, general goods shop and pretty much everything else you need are just a couple of blocks away. Eddie and Michelle are very friendly and helpful but never intrusive. It truly was a wonderful base from which to explore the Lot region and farther south. You can explore the Dordogne, too, but we stayed farther north for that. If we had to mention a downside, it would be that the village trash pick-up is not the most pleasant alarm clock, but this wouldn't at all prevent us from coming back and recommending Chez Ming wholeheartedly to others.

Chez Ming was a generously setup flat below the main house on a small river in Catus. Eddie and Michele were perfect hosts, very helpful and willing to chat, without intruding. They were great with our kids (6 and 4) as they have grandchildren, and the garden has lots of things to use for them. Catus has many facilities close by; great bakery and butcher, post office within a stone's throw and a mini-market with basics. It is close to Cahor, and large supermarkets but also close to the Lot river and villages like St Cirq Lapopie, Rocomador and other sights. It is also close to Pech Merle and the other cave painting sites in the area. In other words while Catus isn't a tourist destination itself, there are many places an easy drive that are. We hope to return soon to Chez Ming, and would thoroughly recommend it to one and all, and particularly your hosts, Eddie and Michele.

Occasionally, you stumble on to a great find. On this occasion our friends gave us a heads-up. We spent 6 days out of our month in France in this charming gite and wish we had spent longer - cutting down some time spent elsewhere. The Lot valley is an engaging area in itself and is a good base for day trips by car to the Dordogne. The gite is comfortable and has all we needed for our stay. Eddie and Michelle who live in the upstairs of the building were very good hosts. Very helpful and not intrusive. The whole stay had a friendly feel - a shame we didn't stay longer. The gite is located literally on the banks of the stream that runs through the little village. There is a garden to enjoy by the stream. The village is not touristy. You really need a car here to make the most of a long visit - assuming you want to explore surrounding villages etc. There is off-street parking.

This was our third visit to Chez Ming. Lovely, clean, well thought out gite accommodation in a perfect riverside setting. Eddie and Michele are perfect hosts and are so helpful in every way. If you intend to visit and explore this beautiful part of France, then I could not recommend a better location to base yourself. The village is quaint with interesting sights and a lively market on Tuesday mornings. The village restaurant is welcoming, serving local produce and is good value !! Nearby Cahors never fails to impress. This area, and especially Chez Ming is well worth a visit.

Chez Ming was the perfect accommodation for us. The gite is cozy yet spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and modern bath, and only short walks to a great boulangerie and country restaurant. Our hosts were gracious, helpful and generous. The gite, with its more than adequate accommodations, delightful garden, near-by stream and small-town atmosphere provide a tremendous value for the casual traveler.

We spent 4 weeks at this wonderful gite, and feel we could not have made a better choice. The location is ideal - small village but with enough to sustain us if we felt like having a lazy day; close to the lovely town of Cahors; close to innumerable quaint, attractive villages; in the area of the best French wine without any doubt; and the opportunity to have lovely walks in the country and also around Le Lac. The hosts, Eddie and Michele are welcoming, generous and have a wide knowledge of the area, so guided us in our exploration of the area. You will not be disappointed with this gite.

We have just returned from a week staying at Chez Ming in early November 2011. The Gite is very well equipped and the hosts very welcoming and obliging. There were 4 in our party (2 friends and one couple) and the gite was large enough for 4 adults even at this time of year when we could not make use of the garden which is beautiful. The gite is a very short walk to the local boulangerie and small but adequate supermarket. The L'Auberge in the village is also recommended. Catus is a perfect spot to explore the local area we visited the vineyards of the Lot Valley, sites such as St Cirque Lapopie and Rocamodour and also travelled north into the Dordogne for Sarlat and Lascaux II. We will definitely return hopefully next year.
