Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Visited here for a week late August 2023 from the UK. Some of the online photos are very old. The property is no longer painted cream nor is there a palm tree in the middle of the pool. A small ( 24 rooms I think) family run hotel. Very friendly. Peaceful, no poolside loud music. No dashing to reserve sun beds. Enough beds for everyone. Any problems we had were delt with at speed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Plenty of storage and hangers. No bathroom toiletries. Gorgeous bedding and really comfortable. The safe is not attached to anything and we could never get ours to work. You can not self cater here. There is a big fridge with ice box, ( bring an ice tray) 2 cups and 2 glasses and a kettle. Bring your own tea and coffee. There are loads of restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk. A great base for exploring the south of the island. Lots of car park space. All rooms face the pool . Breakfast is served to you and a little Greek!! Lunch time bar food was delicious. We arrived after the kitchen had closed for lunch but they still managed to make us toasted sandwiches. The gardens and pathways could do with a good weeding and tidying up which wouldn’t take long but would make it a bit more ‘polished’. All in all a very enjoyable week. Highly recommend if you want somewhere quiet but with great restaurants in walking distance.

Had a lovely holiday here. Stayed in a one bed apt (only 2 of these on the top floor) lots of room and storage. In living room, 2 single beds, sofa, table & chairs, small kitchen area with sink, hob, kettle etc. Double bed in bedroom. Bathroom small but does have shower curtain. Very large balcony with 2 patio doors. Lovely views of pool, gardens and sea. Air con and safe both free (the safe is not attached to the wall) Hotel very clean, pool lovely, very deep, got rail and few steps to get in. Staff really nice. My only negative is breakfast - served by two ladies, would prefer to help myself. Not much choice but enough to get by, fried eggs, bacon, tomato, 1 kind cheese, 1 kind ham (awful) 1 kind cereal, bread, butter, jam, honey, orange juice, tea, coffee. 7 -10 min walk to restaurants and beach, many great restaurants right on the beach to choose from. Would definitely return to this hotel, had a fab week.

Just came back from this hotel after spending a lovely relaxing week , the hotel is situated in a good location with the village of Katelios a 10 minute walk away from the lovely tavernas and the beach. Near the hotel there is a gorgeous bakery and a lovely restaurant called Jimmy’s who give generous portions. The hotel itself is small, a little tired but with the most comfiest bed and pillows I have ever had the pleasure to sleep on. Breakfast is served to you which is ok but I would rather help myself, the staff are very friendly, the pool is a good size for the size of hotel, sun beds are comfortable. I would definitely return .

Hotel very good for price paid. Stayed for a week. Staff friendly and helpful. TUI rep visited three days. Breakfast is good with bread/toast, yogurt, fruit, honey, marmalade, butter, cornflakes/coco flakes, cheese and ham, tomato, fried egg and bacon, coffee, tea and juice. Pool clean and plenty of sunbeds. Bar menu for snacks such as Greek salad, omelette, toasties and drinks. Room comfortable, aircon, fridge, kettle, cups and glasses, beds comfy, nice balcony with pool /garden/sea view. No self catering facilities though i.e. sink, cooking rings, plates, cutlery, bowls. We had room 17 and other guests we spoke to had the same. Check before you book if you want to do self catering. Bathroom /shower a bit on the small side but adequate. Safety deposit box in room but not fixed. Rooms cleaned regularly. Bakery and taverna across the road. 5-10 minute amble to the sandy beach. Two mini markets and gift shops passed on the way. Beach front has around ten tavernas/cocktail bars etc. Sun beds available for free if you eat/drink at the Tavernas. You get to use their toilets. Great view from tavernas all located on edge of beach. We never had a bad meal at any of them. The hotel pool is a bit on the deep side but you can enter by handrail and gradual steps for a cool off before it gets to deep. Could do with some pool signs regarding depths. We had a few drinks at the bar in the evenings. Not over busy and closed around 11 - 12pm depending on how long you stayed up. All in All this is a relaxing hotel. Katelios is a lovely laid back typical Greek village with beautiful beach setting. You will need a car/taxi to go anywhere else. Would recommend and will defiantly go back.

Another wonderful holiday at the Alkioni. First class service from friendly, caring staff, they never disappoint. Our room was kept spotless, the food superb, the pool (I’m missing already). We have been coming to Katelios for 12 years now and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you to all.

All the staff were really friendly and helpful, room was kept fabulously clean by a lovely cleaner. Two lovely ladies served us at breakfast in the morning and although there is a limited selection for breakfast, we just swopped what we had for breakfast for the two weeks. The bathrooms are similar to the places we stayed at before, essentially they’re wet rooms so I always wear flip flops as the floor tiles do get slippy. In response to the Wi-Fi connection, we had no problem either year we’ve stayed, top floor this year in a one bed apartment, which had lovely views. Pool is lovely to sit around during the day & in the hot days, essential. All in all another really lovely holiday! Also you can also get a nice lunch so just order at the bar!

Wouldn't rate it a 3* very tired . Agree with previous review, bathroom very small, no tiles only plaster which got soaked after shower and walls were starting to go black. Bedding changed after 4 days !! Grounds need a lot of maintenance it looks totally neglected. Tiles around pool broken and weeds coming through. No handrails, especially going down steps on arrival with cases was hazardous. Open drain outside our door and hosepipe which we coiled up to prevent someone tripping. Breakfast was very limited as previous review and served to you. Other guests said don't complain after we had no hot water evening and following morning because Jaquelyn doesn't like criticism ! We could only get WiFi in reception area, I texted Tui and asked if they could email me with any important information. Following morning at breakfast in front of other guests, Jaquelyn approached me in an aggressive manner asking why I made a complaint ! She was very rude. Unfortunately we can't recommend this hotel, so much potential but minimum done.

For a 3 star, I was disappointed in the breakfast options. It was very continental and had no variety. Cereal, yogurt, toast, & the same meat/cheese/tomato options and some fried eggs and bacon. You also had to queue in a very school like fashion, and have the staff make your plates for you. It felt very regimented and by the end of the trip, I couldn’t face eating it. There was a lack of fresh fruit available as is standard with continental breakfasts, which was disappointing. I didn’t want bread every day. The rooms were very basic, with just some soap offered complimentary. There was no robes or slippers which would have been nice to have. In addition; the bathrooms are wet rooms, so you couldn’t leave anything on the ground or it would get soaked when showering. They were fine but very wet after a shower. The beds were comfortable enough, no issues there. No TV in the room which was fine for us, but I did miss the news etc which would have been nice to watch. The pool area was clean however there were no towels provided so you had to bring your own. Fine for us but some people didn’t have some so had to buy them in the local shop. Another thing that could make this place a little better. Finally the paid food options- again very bread heavy. There were some salads and omelettes but everything else was bread based. By the end of the trip, I had enough of bread and chips! I wanted something a bit more Greek, like olives etc. All in all, it was an okay stay. The village itself is lovely and had great food options. I don’t have a bad thing to say about the staff at this hotel. They were lovely and super friendly.
