The Armada Guesthouse House is the ideal destination for visiting family or friends, walking the Cleveland Way, admiring our wonderful North East coast line or venturing over the stunning heather landscape of the North York Moors National Park. Situated only one hundred yards from Redcar’s beach, many rooms have a seaview. Whatever you choose to do, on your return you will be able to freshen up and walk into the town, where you will find lovely restaurants and many bars within a two minute walk. You might like to stroll along the promenade on your way back to get some sea air. In 2006, the new owners, John and Gill began an extensive program of renovation to this splendid Victorian town house, and have currently completed thirteen of fifteen rooms, each with a warm and inviting atmosphere. A full range of rooms ranging from economy singles to luxury family en-suites is available, with prices to suit all pockets and tastes. We are also well equipped for the discerning business traveller as we offer free wireless internet access, digital LCD television, welcome tray and legendary breakfast, voted by our residents, the best in the North East. Huntsman, Ensus, Sembcorp, Invista, Uniqema, Dow, Advansa, Artenius at Wilton International are all within a 6 or 7 minute drive, as are Corus and Teesport. Within five minutes walk is Cleveland Golf Club. Established in 1887, the course is the only true links course in Yorkshire and is also one of the oldest courses in the county. The course offers easy walking and is a fair challenge to players of all abilities. The club has hosted many county and professional events and is the home to the amateur scratch competitions the Cleveland Salver and the Mid Amateur International. I booked this hotel due to it's good reviews and breakfast, as I was working away at the time and wanted somewhere to feel at home and comfortable. However, this is not what I found at Armada hotel at all... more like the opposite. To start, the room was freezing and the

Firstly, we are sorry your stay did not meet expectations. We encourage guests not to consume hot take away food in the rooms, for the comfort of guests (including themselves) to avoid odours and accidental staining of bedding and carpets. Who wants to sleep in a room full of takeaway smells? We do make the dining room available to guests for this purpose. All the rooms have duvets, additional blankets and thermostatic radiator valves, which can be set to whatever temperature is required. This is not a “freezing hotel”. In fact the whole building has been insulated to well beyond part ‘L’ of the building regulations and is very efficient. Normally the heating is set off between 10am and 4pm, and 11pm and 6am. If anyone needs the heating on during these times (a reasonable person might rightly be expected to just ask) we happily either switch it on or install a temporary electric radiator. As housekeeping is carried out in the mornings, this can sometimes be a problem with night-shift workers. This is explained at check-in, where we ask guests to leave anything they want changing outside the room, so this can be done without disturbance. In addition guests working night-shifts are always asked at breakfast whether there is anything they need for their room. There is no rule against alcohol in the rooms; we have absolutely no idea where this came from. In fact we frequently loan wine glasses and ice buckets to guests. It is not my intention to be rude to any of my guests. It is unfortunate if your sensibilities have been offended.

Stayed recently for 3 nights. Absolutely cannot fault it - very clean, very tidy, very comfortable and breakfast as good as any I’ve had. Jill and John couldn’t have been more helpful - they even introduced me to some Scottish guests to get inside info on best places to go in

Can we take a dog?
Yes, we didn't, but we were aware of another guest who did. I would check before booking tho, don't know if all rooms are pet friendly.
