While the rustic bungalows are in keeping with staying on a small island in Halong Bay, the small sunbathing and swimming beach are good and the place is quiet (as long as you don't stay in the backpackers' hostel part), the food was, in all honesty, terrible. You're a captive audience and the resort doesn't make much effort to be...

If you want bad memories for your holiday, then this is the place to stay. Vicious rabid monkeys, rats in the bungalows, nothing worked - constant power outages and unpleasant service staff. All the things that make for a nightmare holiday. Try somewhere else on Cat Ba and avoid this place at all costs.

We spent two nights and wish we had stayed longer. The facilities need some renovating, and the food is good-not excellent, it's all about the location and the service here. The facilities are to be expected for the natural weathering of this small island, though it was clean and very comfortable. We loved the private beach, having the island all...

Having read reviews, I went to Monkey Island with average expectations. Writing this review in not stratght forward because our Monkey Island experience was complicated. BIG CON - Transfer/Transportation Monkey Island offered and we accepted the Hanoi to CatBa transfer. The company is an affiliate/owned by the same owners of Monkey Island. The transfer was a total disaster and not...

I traveled here with a group of 6 friends during Tet (Lunar New Year) and had the most pleasant and wonderful experience of any part of our trip to Vietnam. The island itself is super gorgeous and remote and we were lucky enough to be one of only two groups there at the time, so we felt like we really...

A truly beautiful setting, a while to get to but the company does everything imaginable to get you there smoothly. Guests of all budgets make the trip and, aside from the seaview huts, the others seem very small and there are even hostel-style shared rooms up on the ridge.....perhaps there'd be less beer cans strewn around at some truly beautiful...

This is by far one of my top vacation experience. The resort is very secluded (perfect for romantic getaways). There is a boat that'll take you back and forth from Beo Barbour. The staff is very nice and friendly. Food is excellent as well. We took the sea view room and the view of sea lying down on the sun...

We recently stayed at monkey island, the bungalow we stayed in was perfect two double beds, room was relatively warm, a/c and heater provided, shower great pressure and heat! (One of the best nights sleep I've had!) We made our way to the sky bar, which in fact isn't really a bar it's somewhere to take drinks and sit in...

We stayed for one night in a sea view beach bungalow. The bungalow was spacious and air conditioned. Pool table and table tennis available for free in reception and food was brilliant. A BBQ was cooked for our evening meal with plenty of freshly caught seafood.

My boyfriend and I went on a 3 day 2 night cruise late November 2016, its a little more colder around this time of year. They actually canceled a cruise right before ours and also the one after because a storm was rolling in, so you can say we were pretty lucky! Loved that they pick you & drop you...
