Coulsdon Manor is set amidst 140 acres of landscaped Surrey parkland, a large part of it laid down as a challenging 18-hole, providing an oasis of peace and tranquility. Built in the 1850s for Lord Byron and his family, the manor house has been restored to its former glory as well as being sensitively extended. You will now discover a country house flavour reflected in the beautiful woodwork and furnishings, whilst the modern glass atrium lends a light and airy feel. Relax during your stay with a stroll around the grounds with its fine collection of rare trees, take tea on the patio or enjoy a round of golf on the challenging 18 hole course, par 70, stretching over 6073 yards, before sampling the many amenities of the leisure club.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Out of all these hotels I have stayed, Coulsdon Manor is different because it is one of those historical building. It is located next to a golf course hence beneficial for golfers and you definitely need a car to get here. The bathroom was memorable with two sinks, a generous big bath tub and a separate shower corner as well. There was a nice poster bed, sofa but because I have an issue with windows, there were too many for my liking. This place is quite noisy because it is a social places so you will find lots of people going in and out so you will hear their conversations as well. The staircase, chandeliers and dining area was nice and grand.

Warm welcome, great dinner and breakfast. This is our 2nd stay after a disappointing first stay. The hotel needs some Tlc, ripped carpets on the staircase. The food was very nice , hot and tasty, we would return as we like the hotel. Good job to Neil and his team.

The grounds were spacious and nice to ramble but the Hotel was very disappointing. The room had so many things wrong with it and it was very hot and noisy with a party going on downstairs. In the morning the breakfast buffet was empty and everyone was hanging around waiting for anything to come out from the kitchen. They said a Golf party had just been through. We waited for more food but sadly very disappointing. The receptionist too was very rude and was oblivious about anything being wrong with breakfast. Shame when it could have so much potential but needs a lot of work.

The food served (which should have been hot) was cold. The venue itself was very shabby. The golf club members were watching sport in a nearby room and you could here them shouting and jeering at the TV through the wedding speeches. Don't book your wedding here.

Greater by a friendly reception person was charged up front for full stay. The Hotel is very dated with what I would describe as late 1970,s early 80,s decor .Room was basic as I had expected but the condition was dreadful .Damage to wall alongside bed. Looked like water damage from the bathroom behind said wall. What I presume was a tx mounting bracket on a wall with nothing attached..Mould in Bathroom around shower area.Grounds nice. Large car park .Reported loo flush partially broken was not fixed during stay. Rooms need decorative attention and Bathrooms cleaning of mould .Should have gone to a Travel lodge .

This was a function of about 65 people where the guests had been asked to choose in advance from the 2 alternatives for each course. Probably we shouldn't have been surprised that at the very end of the desert serving the guests' choices did not match up! But what did surprise me was that the very young serving staff said there was nothing they could do about this "as the chef had already gone home". Surely his contract should require him to stay at least until all the food had been served. I was also surprised that the hotel didn't realise that more serving staff behind the bars before their guests sat down equals more sales! On the plus side we thought the food was significantly better than we had been expecting.

Having stayed many years ago I was shocked to find that the hotel looks like it is on its last legs. Our garden view room was clean and the staff were friendly. The location is great and I hope to return and stay in a room

Don't stay in room 314!! Woken at 5.30 am by the extractor machinery from the kitchen and boiler room. Constant noise gave me a terrible headache. No chance of going g back to sleep. Still going at 8.45 when we went to breakfast.

I have stayed at the hotel before and it’s always been a super stay, this time due to a family issue I couldn’t stay at the last minute and Sharon was so kind and helpful and refunded me the money and made it so easy for me - a relief and I will definitely be staying again due to the way it was handled thank you
