After spending a great few days at a previous YHA centre last year, we booked Hartington Hall with 2 other families for the Easter weekend. The good bit. Great location, a really pretty village and easy access for cycling/walking etc. Nice grounds and restaurant food was better than expected, with greater variety than anticipated. The less good bits. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay. We are glad that the location of the hostel was what you were looking for and that our restaurant surpassed expectation. We are however, very sorry that the self-catering facilities were not ideal. During your stay we experienced unusually high levels of self catering guests which pushed...

I wasn't sure how to rate this, since, for a youth hostel, I thought this place was brilliant, and I think that their standard pricing is reasonable, however, we booked a double room for £40 and got the "Bonnie Prince Charlie" room. Beautiful building, great location with friendly, helpful staff. Not good sharing a toilet next to my room though as lots of noise into the night and from very early (4:30am). Entire Scout group of teens running around shouting for 3 hours was difficult and added to sleeplessness. A shame as the hostel is well run, clean with lovely food.

I am glad that you found our facilities and staff to a good standard but can only apologise for the noisy group that were here on the same night as yourselves. I do hope that this experience does not out you off visiting us in...

This is a great place to be in the Peaks - A fine old house - And the facilities are also good too - And particularly important in any place is the hospitality and care given by the staff - All good and highly recommended :)
