We stayed here 14th May - 16th May in the Breadalbane room which is very spacious, sparkly clean, cosy and so pretty. There's a TV and drinks station with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. Stunning views from the windows as well. The bathroom has a large shower separate to the spacious roll top bath and again sparkly clean. We had towels, bath robes and slippers provided in the room as well as all the toiletries you could need.... oh and a ironing board and iron in the wardrobe. After a 10 hour drive we had an amazing welcome from Abbey and Daniel. We were shown to our beautiful room complete with champers, chocolate, flowers, rose petals and candles with the honeymoon package. We were shown to the hall/breakfast room and reading room and told we had the entire castle to ourselves for that night. They lit the open fire and we took full advantage of an empty castle sitting in front of the fire in our pyjamas sipping champagne, wine and beer the entire night to the blissful sound of Highland music. We also noticed a cute little bucket containing blankets if needed. The bed was something else! Other than being a very eye catching four poster it was the best few nights sleep we've ever had. We are even going to buy the same mattress for at home! We had a sheet to fill in for breakfast and pop in "The wee breakfast box" in the hall. Breakfast was perfect. Between us we had the Scottish breakfast, yoghurt pot, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, toast and the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. It was all delicious and a decent portion. Eyes bigger than our bellies! And because we were their only guests, Daniel treated us to a special coffee! We also enjoyed an afternoon tea on the Saturday in front of the open fire. Selection of sandwiches, salmon pate, cakes, fruit, scones.... It was stunning and Daniel swapped out the tea for yet another of his coffees. Nothing was too much for them. We can't wait to come back to Scotland and stay here again. Everything was perfect we couldn't fault a thing!!

Due to unforseen circumstances our original wedding venue became unavailable, so happily we discovered Barcaldine Castle offered the Service and accommodation we required. From day one, hosts Abbie and Daniel couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and efficiant and stepped into the breach by offering this "Magical Wedding Venue". The hospitality was second to none and started by welcoming us on our arrival and showing us to our fantastic Room (Breadalbane) which had everything and more. It was clean and had a cozy feel. The perfect room for a Bride to get married from. It was wonderful to be able to sit on big comfortable settees in front of a log fire in the Great Hall enjoying a dram. The location of the castle is perfect, the views are stunning at all times of the day. The breakfast was great - the afternoon teas are amazing! All in all, whatever the occasion, this historic luxury B&B is unbeatable.

We booked this Castle for Exclusive use over Christmas 2020. We booked and paid a substantial deposit well over a year previously. We ( just two of us) in October 202 to check that everything was in order, , liked the place very much, and the managers seemed competent. Introduced us to a chef to cater for us as we would be 12. Paid him a deposit as well. Checked out all in the area for Children and adults alike. Understandably 2020, was a difficult year, and after our November Lock down, when it looked like all systems go, we contacted ABBEY, the manageress, and this is when she became difficult. She Ummed and Ahhed. She did not get back to us, so twice we had to call her and then she said, Well I don't think so. Having spent a considerable time and effort sourcing this property for a special occasion, understandably we were more than annoyed, Sleeper train for 12 had been booked and paid for, along with return flights and hire cars. As is happened Scotland closed it borders and families in England could not meet over Christmas. However my objection is the Complete unprofessionalism of the manager and her husband and for that reason alone I would not recommend anyone to visit.

Hi Sue, I'm sorry you felt you had to write a review. At the time of your booking, the Scottish and English governments restrictions were not quite the same and only days before your booking, lockdown hit again. We gave you as much of an update following the government guidelines that we could, that we knew of. It was hard for everyone, I didnt know any more than anyone else at that time. We had numerous phonecalls and emails as the government provided us with information. We also refunded you as soon as we knew it wouldn't be allowed to go ahead so that you could try and make reservations elsewhere. You had my personal mobile number and full contact throughout. Everyone's plans for Christmas were ruined, as lockdown was confirmed (which were our worries in the first place). Please also bear in mind that you were coming from London, a city. During the pandemic. We hope that others reading this review will take into consideration that this is our livelihood and we would loved to have taken your booking, but we will not break the rules.

We had a couple from Australia who while touring with us felt it was essential to stay in a castle at least one night. Barcaldine castle was a great choice at a good rate and even though we turned up very late, there were no issues whatsoever. We will be using Barcaldine again in the future and you should too.

Stayed here in October and we both loved our stay. Very Covid conscious so no 'meet and greet' but a note left inside the front door with instructions of how to find your room and feel at home. I think i actually preferred this as it was exciting exploring the castle yourself and making yourself at home. A luxurious B&B with gorgeous main hall and open fire or smaller reading room, board games, excellent breakfast, large bedrooms stunning views of the loch and surrounding countryside. I can't praise this beautiful, atmospheric B&B high enough. Loved every minute.
