We recently enjoyed a 3 night break at this caravan site just outside Oban. Caravan was cleaned to a high standard with lovely veranda and outdoor seating area. The site has direct access to its own beach which is lovely, and a small playpark for the kids. The only downside was there was no eating places on site as the chippy closed early for the season which meant you had to drive into Oban for food which was about 20mins depending on traffic. We didn't get to visit most of the places we wanted to due to the weather not being great (not surprising for October!!) We had a nice day in Oban and walked up to McCaigs Tower, where the views are great. We had a lovely lunch in Piazza and enjoyed some treats from the Oban Chocolate Co. Would maybe return in high season to benefit more from the site and surrounding areas.

Thank you very much for your review and feedback. Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Tralee and sorry that the weather wasn't great. Hope that you will come back in the high season and see more of what the surrounding areas have to offer (and some sunny weather) 😊 P.S. there are several restaurants within a 3-mile radius of Tralee - the Hawthorne is a 5-minute walk away and there are 3 pubs at Connell Bridge, just 3 miles down the road. The Creagan Inn is just a 10-minute drive in the other direction towards Glencoe.

We visited for 3 nights over Easter. What a fabulous park. Its 3 minute walk to tralee bay, caravans spotless and the staff helpful. We had 2 boys, but one day we went a walk to beach, rock pooling, walked right round to another bay, then playpark. Took up a whole morning! Lovely fresh air and walks. Fish and chip van was fabulous. The haddock was amazing.

Defo won’t be our last visit. Spotlessly clean caravan, which has everything you could want. Weather wasn’t the best, but caravan was so warm and cosy. Beds made up and lovely fluffy towels ready to use. Sonny our dog was so relaxed and settled and loved the walks can’t wait to return when hopefully weather better we can all get a paddle in the sea and really enjoy all you have to offer, from woodland walks to glorious beach. Best fish n chips I’ve ate in ages

We have stayed here several times as a family of five, and all times have been absolutely magical. We normally stay for 1-2 weeks at a time in summer and have stayed in a few of their wooden lodges, and also in the Cottage, 'Grianan'. The cottage which is slightly set back from the rest of the site. This is very peaceful and has a beautiful garden and hot tub. All is very private and wonderfully quiet. They empty and refill the hot tub in between each guest, which means it is sparklingly clean. Staff also come and check on the chlorine levels regularly throughout your stay to make sure it is in good condition and safe to use. The attention to detail really is amazing. The lodges are spacious, and are in close proximity to the beach, so great for a dog walk or if you have any keen watersports people in your family. There are lodges with a wrap-around veranda, and those with one out the front. Either way the veranda is a great feature as it means you can try wetsuits, sit in the sun, or shelter from the rain. Most (not all) lodges also have a built in ramp for wheelchair access should you require it. The lodges were spotlessly clean apart from a few dog hairs (understandable when you're in a dog friendly lodge but it would be nice if there weren't any at all). The on-site fish and chip van is yummy but very busy so pre-order as they advise. The woodland walk is a brilliant feature because you can walk your dogs safely around a beautiful otter pond (also great if you fish!). There is a small shop at Benderloch (we called it Aladdins cave) which stocks a surprising amount of things, so it's handy to nip here rather than have to go all the way into Oban for the big Tesco or Aldi. The site overall is quiet and well lit at night; obviously it depends who your neighbours are as to how quiet it is, but overall the site is quiet with no road noise at all. We unfortunately had neighbours for a week with a dog that barked incessantly all day right into the night whenever anything went past - child, bike, car - which made it not as peaceful but that wasn't the sites fault of course. As a side note - the lodges near to the small lake do look like they are more prone to midges, and this is why we have given these a miss in previous years. We have even booked again to come twice this year!

Another fantastic week at Tralee Bay. Weather a bit temperamental but it is the end of September so pretty good really. Stayed in Caravan 52 and all was perfect as usual. Have been coming to this site since 2013, once or twice a year. Would recommend to anyone who is coming to the area to stay here. Staff are extremely kind and welcoming and the site is pristine and very well maintained. See you next August!

I grew up visiting Tralee Bay, but this was my first time showing it off to my partner and we had a really wonderful time. It is in the most beautiful spot, I could spend every minute on the beach with that view. There are lovely walks around the park, the fish & chip van is great and the local shop nearby is so handy. The staff were so lovely and the whole place is very relaxed which is perfect when you just need time away from it all. I couldn't recommend this place more.

Stayed in one of the new studio lodges. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hot tub and fire pit ( wood provided) on the decking made for a great outdoor space, even in September. 5 minute walk to a beautiful beach. Recommend the on site fish and chip shop. Staff really friendly and helpful.

We first visited Tralee in 1978 and have been a number of times since then although it has changed a bit. This time we booked a caravan - believing we would have a balcony, but on arrival we didn't. I actual think it is cruel putting people with dogs into caravans without balconies, you cannot leave the door open in case the dogs escape and it is very hot with just windows open. The arrival system is ridiculous after a very long journey we arrived slightly early only to be told we had to wait until we received a text message. Numerous people came and went eventually someone noticed us and informed us the caravan had been ready for 'a long' while - when asked about the absent text message he just said that's 'the office' we got in to the caravan around 6 pm. We waited until the chip shop opened to order food only to find they take orders all day from 9 am and we only just managed to get on the list for that night. On the last day we decided to order something different to fish & chips which are very expensive so ordered 1 haggis & chips and 1 chicken & chips for £14.50. We never got the haggis we got fish cakes instead and was charged £19.50, I left a message requesting the money to be paid back but have never heard anymore from them. We will never be going again to this place - if I return to Tralee we will find somewhere else to stay.

Thank you, Pam, for your review and feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. There have been many changes since 1978, and we have done a lot of work to the green areas this past year as well as adding two luxury studio pods with hot tubs. Some of the caravans have balconies and others don't - this is made clear on our website and is something you need to check when booking. The arrival system we currently have in place is to minimise contact between customers and staff to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In the information we send to customers before they arrive, it clearly states that food must be pre-ordered from the chip shop - again this is part of our Covid-19 policy. Tralee Bay Fish n Chips apologies for the mix up with your order - please contact Paul through their Facebook page and he will reimburse you the £5.00. The number of people staying at Tralee Bay this year has been unprecedented - we would like to thank our staff for doing an incredible job given the current circumstances.
