Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic accommodation with a great location. Spent 3 days in Northern Ireland visiting family in the local area and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here again. Chris and Sarah gave us such a warm welcome and couldn’t do enough for us- wonderful hosts. The accommodation itself is lovely and perfect for what we needed. Cannot wait to go back again for our next visit.

Brilliant hosts and wonderful accommodation. I have been staying there at least once a year for at least 7 years and I will be going back. Everything you could need is supplied and the gardens are beautiful. Well situated to explore Derry city and the north coast.

Stayed here for 5 nights with husband and 2 dogs in Faughan Cottage. It was good to be able to book by the day rather than a whole week, which would have been an expensive waste, and to be able to bring the dogs at no extra cost. Our cottage- one of 3 in the old outbuildings of a beautiful manor house- had an open plan living area downstairs, with a small but well equiped kitchen area, dining table, and lounge with 2 comfortable settees and a log burner with plentiful supply of free logs. In the hall under the stairs they even managed to fit in a washer drier and fridge freezer. Upstairs were a bathroom with shower over, a twin bedroom, and double with en-suite shower. Both bedrooms were well decorated, with suffficient wardrobe space and chests of drawers. My only complaint was that the mattreses were rather thin- with everything else in the cottage being good quality it seemed a shame to have cheap mattresses.
40u of electricity were provided free, and we didn't need to top it up. All bedding and towels were also provided, and a lovely welcome pack of bread butter jam and milk tea and coffee. We were welcomed by the friendly owner who helpfully showed us how everything worked.
Our cottage was the only one of the three that that had a door on to the courtyard where the cars are parked, and on to the gardens. We found that very useful with the dogs, and I would think families with children would like this feature too. You are allowed free access to all of the extensive gardens, and maps are provided of walks over the larger estate. Sadly we weren't able to do much walking- being Ireland it rained every day, so it was too muddy
As well as the usual North Antrim coast sights we would highly recommend the Ulster American Folk Park near Omagh- a very interesting way to stay out of the rain!

Thank you for taking the comment on your recent stay with us, your positive comments are greatly appreciated as we seek to ensure that everyone who stays in our cottages has an enjoyable and comfortable experience. Although I’m afraid we can’t do much about the weather (if only!), we were disappointed to read your comments regarding the quality of the mattress in the cottage and the impact this had on your stay. Each year we reinvest in new equipment for the cottages, including mattresses, and while we haven’t received any other complaints about the mattresses we use, we do welcome feedback and recognise that ‘comfort’ is very personal to each individual. We would like to have had the opportunity to resolve this problem during your stay as we could have offered an alternative mattress that we hope would have addressed the problem. We hope that you will choose to revisit us at some point so that we can earn a 5 star review! Thanks again for your comments.

We have stayed at Drumcovitt several times with the first time in the Summer of 2000 and the most recent in November 2003. Both times we stayed in the self-catering cottages, the old barn converted into spacious and comfortable apartments. Florence and Frank were our hosts both times and we were sad to see that Frank passed away. They were both wonderful hosts who insured that we had a roaring fire in the fireplace to greet us with each stay. All cottages come with a kitchen, living room and several bedrooms and bathrooms.
The Antrim Coast, Bushmills, Derry and Belfast are short drives from the Inn.

We spent half-term break in Roe Lodge - found it to have plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 kids. Accommodation very clean and well laid out - this is an upstairs Loft but very private and everything you need to self-cater. Owner was very helpful - provided board games for kids, maps of local walks - and even brand new Welles for me as I'd forgotten mine.

Location is superb to explore local walks - we enjoyed Banagher old church and Banagher dam (quite a steep incline) and in particular walks at Roe Valley. Also well suited for 3 or 4 trips in Derry city. We parked for free just beside Ebrington barracks and then walked across Peace bridge. We timed it well for city of culture events, Halloween fireworks, Turner prize 2013 - but these aside there's lots to do in Derry.

Special mentioned Fitzroys in Derry (city side) - we ate there twice - Mons and Tues are 50% off - rest of week 30%. For food at Drumcovitt I'd booked a Tesco delivery and this worked really well. Overall, we had a great time - the accommodation was very comfy and we felt fairly priced - would definitely recommend!

Just back from a stay in Foyle Cottage & had an absolutely fab time! Cottage was perfect for us and had everything we needed & more. Gardens were great & couldn't get our son out of the sandpit! Dogs & cat were so friendly & came running to great us. Place even had a games room. Plenty to do if you don't fancy driving but if you want to stray a little further you'll need a car. Loads of places nearby....Roe Valley Country Park & 5 mins drive away there's the beautiful Banagher Glen & of course you're right in the middle of the Sperrins! Hope to be back soon.

We stayed in Drumcovitt last week with our black Labrador Murphy - it was just perfect in every way, the cottages have everything you will need for time away from home, comfy beds, good wifi if that's what you need and is in a perfect location for the whole of the Northern Ireland coast from Derry across to Belfast. We also went into Co.Donegal very easily too
Being people who like to share their holiday with a dog, Drumcovitt is ideal - plenty of safe space to walk them and for them to stretch their legs before you set off for the day !
Sarah, your host is very helpful and accommodating and will do the utmost to make your stay wonderful .
we will definitely go back with or without dog and thoroughly recommend here

We booked Drumcovitt Barn because of the town of Feeny where I'm sure some of our distant relatives originated from. Although we weren't able to do much family research, we were able to enjoy the area and travel easily to the Giant's Causeway, Londonderry and explore the beautiful countryside.
Drumcovitt Barn was the perfect base for our day trips. We stayed in Foyle Cottage. We were able to make meals in the well equipped kitchen and relax in the spacious 2 bedroom cottage. There was lots of room for two couples to spread out with one bedroom down and one bedroom upstairs. The living room had a wood heater that was very welcome on a few cool mornings.
Sarah and Chris were very helpful with local information and good information about where to buy food supplies and convenience meals.
I would highly recommend this property

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Foyle Cottage with our dog. What a wonderful place to stay. We were in Ireland to attend a family wedding and chose Drumcovitt as it was recommended to us and was close to Roe Park Resort, Limavady where the reception was held.
Our dog was welcome at Foyle cottage - very important to us - and he got on well with the 2 resident dogs Tara and Molly. We were able to book Seamus - our dog - into the local kennels - PAWS, Limavady - whilst we attended the wedding.

Drumcovitt Barn cottages are surrounded by the most beautiful landscaped gardens. I walked Seamus down the front drive - as it was often raining. He enjoyed seeing the occasional baby rabbit and being a gardener I could not resist pulling the very odd weed out of the driveway - made me feel part of the scene. It was nice to chat to the gentleman who tended to the gardens.
You are spoiled for choice with local food shops in the area - Limavady for the big TESCO and cheap fuel – Dungiven (4 miles away) has many food shops - and maybe best of all is Feeny - a village just 1 km away with a well stocked SPAR - we were able to order a newspaper and get our daily bread and milk including wheaten bread, soda bread & scones - staff in all these shops are very helpful.
Across the road from Drumcovitt the farm sells FREE RANGE FRESH FARM EGGS - laid 1 day earlier - and very cheap.

The barn was so very comfortable – and the log fire added to the charm. We had many cousins who came in the evenings to visit us and were so impressed with the whole lay-out. Our neighbours in the other 2 barns were Dutch and French.

Sarah and Chris were great hosts – we would like to thank them for their hospitality.
