Never doubt to visit this place. Realy nothing to remark but good stuff. breakfast , beds , accomodation is realy suberp!! Geert & Els are always there for you. Also try out the jeepsafari .. soo much fun. and the iconiq beah on this trip is like bounty island. Do THIS!!!

We stayed in the lovely village of Lagolio in mid-June 2016 at around E100 per night per room (2 pax). It is very close to many of the archaeological sites and a convenient spot from which to explore the beaches in the Matala area. Caroline and Eddy are very kind and hospitable and have built a delightful home with a pleasant pool in the middle of the village. The room we had was a little dark for lack of windows (Cretan "cave" homes are often like this) but was very cool, mostly in a lovely grey screed texture, spotlessly clean and beautifully air-conditioned. The breakfasts were adequate and sufficient; all the guests (at the time we were there two other Belgian couples) eat together. Perhaps a little more variety in the food could have been introduced from one day to the next, but this is just a small quibble. We were grateful for the early coffee and rolls which we had on our last day, much earlier than the usual breakfast. All in all a very good choice, if a little conservative, with really kind hosts. If you are looking for a beautiful oasis to pass your holiday, great hospitality, a cosy bedroom and an ideal base for exploring southern Crete, The old Kaphenion is the place to be. Carlyn and Edwardakis, your hosts with Belgian roots are fully integrated in the local community and therefore can provide you with the best tips for trips, lunch and dining places in the neigbourhood and other places to see or be. Moreover Edwardakis serves every day a lovely breakfast and he and Carlyn love to entertain you with the local history and stories. You absolutely need a car to get around and also this can be taken care of by your hosts. We spend a splendid Holiday in Lagolio and will certainly be back for a next stay and maybe participate with Edwardakis to a local running event.

Enchanting stay in the Old Kafenion, a beautifully renovated house with respect for the original features. Lagolio is a quite, non-touristic village at about 7 km from the coast. Excellent location for exploring the area. Every morning we enjoyed a gourmet breakfast with home-made delicacies. Eddy is very generous with useful tips and touristic information and Caroline makes your stay as comfortable as possible. Caroline and Eddy you are fantastic hosts ! We'll keep your address in mind!

A perfect B&B. Beautifully renovated. Great hospitality. Clean and comfortable rooms with the feel of a boutique hotel. Very well cared breakfast. Lovely garden with pool and sunbeds. A spectacular sunset from the roofterrace. Non touristic village, close to the sea. We spend a great week. Enjoying several beaches and villages as well as Lagolio and the Old Kafenion.

We stayed in the village of Pitsidia and rented "the Karolina House" and stay there during one week.Perfect location in the village with a beautiful view, this location is very quiet and beautiful renovation of the entire batiment.Inside is very comfortable and everything is thought, several terraces can enjoy all the views. Our first holliday in Crete was a very nice experience not only because South Crete is a very beautifull region of this island with friendly people, but also because The Old Kafenion is a really good Bed&Breakfast. An authentic and comfortably restaured house in a small village, 7 km above the coast, with a great view, beautifull rooms, nice swimming pool with deckchairs, tasty breakfasts and above all a very kind host couple who gives very good advise about interesting things to do in the broad neigbourhood. There is a lot of varied activities to do: nature walks in the mountains and in canyons, car trips, culture, archeological sites, afternoons on the beach, small cosy villages,... The Old Kafenion is a great place to stay those who are looking for a quite and authentic holliday in Southern Crete in an interesting region where you still can feel the local spirit and have a nice contact with the Belgian owners of this B&B . If you rather want a touristic holliday with luxuary hotels and lot of animation, look for a hotel in Norhern Crete.…
