Detailed Reviews
This place was amazing! Finding the place is also very simple, they have positioned signposts directing you to the studios which is only a couple minutes outside Kalamitsi village itself.
The room was very spacious, the bathroom very clean and tidy with a lovely shower.
The balcony has views over the Ionian and in the morning and at sunset the views are breathtaking.
The pool is of the infinity kind and during the day the atmosphere is peaceful and serene.
Nikos and his family did their utmost to help me get to the neighbouring towns and villages as I'm not a driver and Nikos even gave me a lift to Kathisma beach which isn't too far away.
I would definitely recommend staying here if your after a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere as well as great service and views of the west coast.

Stunning location! Owner couldn’t do enough and went off to get us some ice on request and gave us ice bags to make up.
Clean and tidy accommodation with everything you could need and great fly nets on balcony doors that could also be set to tilt and wonderful mechanical shutters to block all light for a really comfy nights sleep.
If I had to state a negative would be that shower head sprayed water out side and need a hook to hang it up but plenty of hot water and easily controlled.
Pool area perfect.
We will come back

Fantastico is truly the best accommodation possibility in Lefkada if you want to enjoy the beauty of the island while staying away from the crowds. The view from the new building is amazingly beautiful as you are 350 meters above the sea and nothing stands in your way to enjoy the exceptional panoramic view you will definitely never forget. The sea with fantastic shades of blue, a picturesque green mountainside with no other buildings really give you a unique experience which is very hard to find these days. You don't even have to stand on the spacious balcony to see this wonder as the room has a glass wall on the western side so whatever you are doing inside you can always have a look at the actual state of the sunset, even from your bed and from above the clouds.
The rooms are brand new with modern furniture and very comfortable beds, studio 9 & 12 are especially spacious and everything is well thouhgt-out and very practical. In the morning the balcony is in shade so you can have breakfast enjoying the panoramic view. In the afternoon you can use the blinds or the curtains to stop the sun from heating up the studio, and there are mosquito nets on every window even though we never saw any mosquitos just wasps but it was not a problem as they were just curious, not aggressive.
The pool is just wonderful, again offering outstanding views, standing high above the sea. The water is well-kept and very clean, actually so nice that you could have the best time even without Lekada's fantastic beaches!
Two of the best beaches are Megali Petra and Kavalikefta right under Kalamitsi, so you can easily reach them and have a parking space well before most people arrive. If you arrive at the western beaches before 10 o'clock, parking should not be a problem, later (in high season) it will be hard to drive through even Kalamitsi as the main street is very narrow, not wide enough for two cars which can cause unpleasant traffic jams, so be early if you want to avoid it.
Nikos and his wife are very nice and helpful people, they are ready to fix any problem the guests might have, broken shower heads or glasses won't stand in your way. They respest the privacy of their guests, always reminding you when the cleaning day is coming, so everything runs smoothly, your holiday won't be about problems.
Actually we had one of the best experiences in Fantastico in the last 15 years in Greece, the position of this hotel, the view and the pool are almost unbeatable. It was the only place we returned to, after five years when there was only the old building. When we saw the new building with the pool it was not a question where we should have our next holiday and it truly was a dream come true. The best place to stay in Lefkada! :)

Stayed here for one week. It is a normal location without too high expectations. We found cleanliness and tranquility in the area. Rooms are big and equipped with kitchenette. The location is managed by a nice Greek family which you don't really meet even if they live there.
The view to the see is breathtaking. If you want to take breakfast, you can take in the village with 20% discount as you are client of Fantastico.
To get to the location you need good driving skills, because the streets are very narrow with tight curves, so the best driver must drive J
Enjoy.

Disappointing experience for our family
- A superb swimming pool
- A good-sized studio
- Free parking
But :
- Everything is old
- The beds are very average
- bathroom from another time
- Air conditioning that does not diffuse throughout the studio
- Quite a few wasps near the swimming pool.
- No attention: no water, no coffee, lack of shower products

Nice rooms with beautiful land and sea view.
Unfortunately the male older owner was extremely rude without sense of hospitality. We felt very uncomfortable there. This was our last time that will see us - at least.
*His son and daughter were very polite - both of them - but this couldn't make us feel better.

This hotel has a lot of qualities but we nevertheless had an extremely unpleasant experience with one person from the hotel. The night before departure our daughter peed on the mattress leaving an unpleasant smell. This is something that unfortunately can happen with a small 2-year old and we were very sorry about this. We were asked to pay 200 euros to replace the mattress which we did right away without even raising our voice.
But an old lady from the hotel got completely out of herself and hysterically yelled at us like a lunatic, throwing things all around in and out of the room, as if the whole place had burnt down or if we had killed her husband!
We completely understand that this was a problem for them, but did they have to be so rude towards the people who pay for their living? What's more we helped them several times with another client who could not speak English and needed someone to translate, we allowed their children to play in the hotel pool while we were in it.
Another, younger lady also said that we had "no respect whatsoever towards the people who lend their room". How can they make that kind of judgement? We were of course willing to repair the damage without them insulting us or treating us like rubbish.
The old woman seemed also a bit strange to me before as she shouted at me because I didn't clean the barbecue after use. How was I supposed to know? Nobody had told us to clean the common areas. If they had done so, we would of course have cleaned it without any problem. But I am still wondering: is a hotel or hostel or whatever you call it not supposed to clean common areas? Are guests supposed to clean the pool as well?
On the other hand the young hotel manager was really professional throughout the stay.

Response from Nikos K, Manager at Fantastico Studios
Responded 17 Jul 2014
Dear Guest, We are very sorry you feel this way. I agree with you that the staff did not behave at all as they should. They should have informed me and left the situation for me to deal with. This is the BIG mistake we made and I do sincerely apologize. Be assured that if there was just a spill I would not charge for the whole mattress. But it felt and smelt like the whole mattress was peed on. As you can understand it was beyond cleaning and especially when new guests arrived in a couple of hours. This situation caused the old lady to freak out. She was unable to comprehend that another solution apart from cleaning is feasible. She had no right to treat you this way. For the common areas I have to disagree with you. When you use something that is common you are expected to leave it as you found it. What if someone else would like to use the barbeque after you, and what if the other person was you?

We stayed late August for 7 days at the Fantastico Apartments in Kalamitsi, Lefkada.
The accommodation is located in an authentic little village, high up the mountainous landscape on the west side of the island and the streets up there get really narrow, bendy and steep. There are two little supermarkets and the one or other restaurant in town, but none of it is anything special or offers much choice, but other villages or Lefkada Town which offers more choice are in reasonable driving distance. The sun sets on this side of the island, so you can enjoy the sun a bit longer there and watch wonderful sunsets, last but not least there are nice and partly even secluded beaches in the area.
The grounds of Fantastico Apartments are picturesque, the garden and pool area are lovely, well maintained and you have a stunning view over the sea from everywhere. The facilities were spacious and good for what we have paid for, maybe a bit spartanly furnished, and having a hot shower was not always possible, i. e. at popular shower times.
The service and hospitality could definitely have been better. Whilst the official website reads that the apartment will be cleaned and towels will be exchanged every 3 days, it actually only happens every 4 days and in our case sadly only as it suited the hosts and not as it suited us. We found it rude to get in the morning repeatedly told (not asked!) to leave and have been pretty much shoed out of the room.
The old couple which hosted us gave us overall the impression that we were more of an inconvenience then guests. Their English was not good, which made communication very difficult. We had one little request which was only reluctantly meet. We would consider ourselves as a friendly and considerable couple, but we faced a few occasions where they made a big deal out of nothing and referring to their bad health state they tried to move everything like it suited them. We were not surprised that also the check-out time was suggested for 9.00 am, though they agreed with hesitation in the end to 11.00 which is the check-out time according to their own brochure.
We particularly went for a small family business, as we loved the great Greek hospitality we experienced in that sort of accommodation previously, it was a shame that this experience proved so differently.

We stayed here in August 2010 and we found it a very good place to spend a week in a calm studio with beautiful sea view. The building is situated literally at the end of the little village of Kalamitsi. The very last part of the road is a dirt road (a few metes only), and after the lonely house a forest is beginning. As the village is built high above sea level, you should have a car to reach the closest beach (Kavalikefta – some 4km) in a scenic, serpentine road. Kalamitsi is a small, calm village inhabited by locals. There are a few tavernas (one in the middle of the village, and two others on the other side of village) and minimarkets.
We stayed in a spotlessly clean, seafront studio with private balcony. We had a double bed (and an additional single one), a TV, a dressing table+chair, an armchair, A/C, cooking facilities, a normal-size fridge, a very little, but new-looking bathroom with shower with curtain. Towels were provided.
There are four rooms on the first floor, two of them have large, private balconies, from where you can admire the undisturbed view of the blue sea and the sunsets (studio number 2 and 3). Studio number 1 and 4 do not have private balcony, but you still can see the sea (side-view) and from the front of studio #4 also the sunset. Ont he ground level there are two other studios which open to the shared garden and have the same nice view. And there is also a separated little house in the garden with a private balcony and also with a beautiful view.
You leave your car next to the house. You can buy olive oil and honey from the owner. It can be due to this fact, that on some mornings our breakfast on the balcony was accompanied by some bees, so if you are allergic to them, then this can be a disadvantage.
We recommend this place to those who are looking for a quiet, calm studio with beautiful sea and sunset view, and do not mind the absence of nightlife and a local beach, which can be reached on foot.
