First of all first tea time the cakes and other meals are stale or not fresh whatever you say. Dinner is starting 19.30 but if you go in 20.00 you can’t find a hot meal, and they have no variety in hot mean dishes. In the evening at the pool bar they celebrate from the music system outloud someone’s birthday, whole night music was outstanding and disturbing, and Spotify commercials 😂 they did not even buy a premium account. In the breakfast they have any kind of cheese you want but only boiled egg for hot starters. In the beach you have approximately 30-35 beds but hotel has 100 rooms, you can’t even find a shadow or a service because they are not findable in the beach. Beach was amazing, sea, Turunc absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Rooms are very good in the hotel. But pool bar guy ( older one not Isa or other young stuff) is a rude guy. Lunchs is a good for Turkish traditional meals. But among all inclusive hotels this one is more expensive for its service or provides anything.

Where can I start just finished 4 day stay here and was very worried after reading the reviews on here. What I will start with that 95% of the reviews are incorrect the staff were great and engaging especially the guy behind the bar the hotel itself is lovely inside and out and well maintained and actively see the young lad cleaning and treating the pool for at least 2 hours every day, also located in the beautiful village of turunc. Everything about this experience lived up to the 4 star billing with the exception of 1 thing FOOD. The food was awful so much so I wouldn't feed it to my dog and I havnt got a dog, this is why this a 2 star review. All the owner needs to do is charge 50 - 100 more per guest get in better food quality then this place would be a hidden gem

the hotel has potential, as long as the management is successful. The owner's behavior towards his subordinates and customers is inferior. the only hotel employees who greeted and smiled were the cleaning ladies and the waiters at the pool bar. I hope they find a job where they are valued in the right way. The food was edible, although the same almost every day. next time we will choose another hotel. Turunc as a vacation spot is a great small and peaceful place. I recommend

If i could give this no stars i would! The hotel is absolutely filthy! We were there 10 days, the first 3 days the pool was green, the colour of shrek! The area round the pool was never cleaned apart from them coming round to collect empty glasses! In the 10 days we were there we didnt have our room cleaned once had to go and get our own clean towels and toilet rolls! There was broken glass under the desk in our room when we got there . Our room had a metal rod around the door was which was all sharp and raised i cut my toe open quite badly and they didnt have so much as a plaster! What kind of hotel dosnt even have a first aid box! The old man behind the bar is rude and ignorant slams your drinks down on the bar! The food isnt fit for a pig! There is flys and wasps walking all over it! The owners sit and get a feast (not the same food as the guests get) served to them every night whilst their paying guests get fed slop! The toilets down by the pool are absolutely vile! They absolutely stink never get cleaned! Its advertised as an adults only hotel, its not! The owners family/friends have their kids there all day! So again false advertising! Theres no other restaurants as they advertise. The gym dosnt work, the spa hasnt been open since june. The entertainment didnt happen until 7 days into our stay after they got alot of complaints through on the beach! There is no hot water until about 6pm and thats when you actually have water 4 out of our 10 days there wasnt any at all, go to reception they just say not my problem. The only good thing about that hotel is the 2 maintenance lads, they cant speal english but google translate to you. They are both so lovely speak to you everytime they see you, go out of their way when they see you to come and say hello! We read reviews before we went but thought it cant be that bad, we couldnt be more wrong!

Only good thing about this hotel was 1 memebrr of staff that worked behind the bar.
The rest was an absolute horrendous experience.
€20 euro for safe, which could have been picked up and taken away with anyone.
The food was unidentifiable, apart from the bread and eggs you could get at breakfast. Lunch/evening we didnt eat in the hotel, not even the salad or fruit as it always had flies or wasps on it. Basic drinks, and powdered milk for the coffee
Hotel was closing earlier than our booked dates. We asked if we could leave earlier, as not happy with the food or cleanliness, but they couldn't accommodate this. During the last few days there were items were being removed bit by bit, including the sunbeds on the beach. They had frills arpund the brollies. Started to take these down and left the metal attachments on the floor, and I stood on one 1 morning when we stayed for a bit. The hotel pool filter had been turned off, so there was dead bugs and grit in it. The ladder in/put the pool was loose.
The dirt around the whole hotel was inexcusable. We had to ask for housekeeping on day 5 as we saw no-one cleaning any part of the hotel.
The poolside toilets were dirty. Not facilities to dry hands. No toilet paper after day 6 and the soap was still in a water bottle left by a different visitor
I decided to make a little video to show the standards of the hotel. The owner saw me doing this and aggressively approached me, unable to speak English, grabbed me and then snatched my phone off me. After this I felt unsafe and uncomfortable to return to the hotel, so we moved ourselves to a different hotel until we were transferred to Icemeler. The last few days of our holiday was the only days we actually relaxed.
I could go on, but there's too much to list

This is the worst all inclusive hotel I have been to. The food was horrendous. We had to eat out every night. We only went for 4 nights. The hotel and scenery looks beautiful but if u want the queit life you certainly should go here but not all inclusive. The drink selection is non existent. On the 4th day we was leaving the cleaners came for the 1st time and rearranged the whole room and items disappeared. The area is beautiful. Went to see de ja vu in marmaris absolutely fantastic. Defo recommended. This hotel is OK to sleep in and that's about it. Definitely would not recommend. Bars and restaurants were lovely and the ppl in turunc are soooo friendly. Beautiful place. Shame about the hotel ....

Absolutely appalled by the behaviour of the rep.
Don’t book excursions with the rep in this hotel. He will charge you for excursions and then when you’re on your excursions you will be stuck in a taxi until you pay up.
I was with my daughter very scared and frightened. The guys name is Murat, two girls in a taxi on their own!
He then freightened me to cancel all my other excursions. £266 I paid him. I’m so angry with the service. Not to mention the hotel!
There is no entertainment even though it states on website. The food is very basic and drinks on all inclusive are just their own drinks. Not allowed cocktails or anything like that.

Hello and welcome to my review of merilclubhoteland spa
I booked this hotel before I had a chance to read the reviews and I am pleased. Firstly you should remember every country has there own individual culture. Turkey is no exception.
Don't expect Fish and chip's steak or burgers or a full English breakfast.
That's not what it's about.
You want that, holiday in Scarborough or bogna.
Your in Turkey.
Let me address some of the issued listed in other reviews.
This is a (boutique) hotel meaning small. About 60 rooms. Around (120) guest's when full At time of visit the spa was not open. It was explained that there was no qualified staff to operate and are currently seeking some.
This was explained to use as soon as we arrived.(wasn't going to use it anyway so didn't effect us in any way.
When we arrived the main water pipes in the street had bursted again not the hotels fault.(it happened at home as well) Accommodated us in their sister hotel for the night and collected us first thing in the morning. Again wasn't an issue these things happen.
THE MERIL HOTEL... let me address some of the reviews below.. Our room on the 6th floor was spacious and clean, we had a fantastic view a large double bed and one single. There was just the 2 of us.
The pool area was clean and tidy NO loud music on a night so I don't know why that was mentioned.
Ample sunbeds to go around.
Breakfast is continental remember that. Not a great selection of food for meals but you won't go hungry.
The milk comes in cartons it's long life obously because of the heat. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
So remember your going to Turkey Thier culture is different. Their food is different their way of life is different, if you want fish/chips or burgers the local cafe's do it, are stay at home.
REMEMBER your in Turnunc NOT Maramaris. I'll give it a good 3star plus

Hotel located in a picturesque area. The view of the green mountains and the sea is an amazing combination. The hotel is well-kept and clean, the rooms are cleaned every day, new towels and bed linen are replaced every day. Delicious food ! But above all, great service! My husband and I were there for a week, it was a wonderful time, we will definitely go back! Greetings to all the staff, especially the owner with whom it was great fun at the bar ;) We recommend it to everyone with all our hearts❤️ Ania i Marcin

This is an hotel with problems which are likely to get worse as the gloss of a new facility wears off. Only opened in the past few months it has the pretentions to be a 4 star facility. However, it falls way short of its aspirations in a number of fundamental areas. Probably the shortcomings are so endemic that they will rapidly undermine even those aspects which are satisfactory (or even good). I have read the few other reviews which have appeared and they contrast the positive image of a new hotel with evident investment in facilities (i.e. buildings) and the abject failure to deliver the most basic of hotel services.
The positives are
- the building is new and well situated with a nice leisure pool and a short distance to the beach
- the bedrooms are bright and airy and largely as described
- some of the staff are very helpful and keen to overcome some of the shortcomings of the hotel and, more particularly, its current “management”
The negatives are
- description of many of the facilities is exaggerated in the hotel’s website which is the source of much of the information elsewhere e.g. with agents and booking websites. Much of the finishing is cheap and will deteriorate very rapidly. There are large public areas of the hotel which are effectively unusable. The gym and sauna area (Floor 1) has no ventilation or air conditioning. The Reception Area, Lounge and Terrace (Floor 2) have no facilities and have very little apparent purpose or use for Guests. Worst of all is the Ground Floor which holds the Restaurant, Terrace, Games Room and Supermarket (which is little more than a market stall). The Restaurant has no effective ventilation or air conditioning or even circulation (apart from open doors). The Terrace which mirrors the Restaurant in length is in direct sunshine all day. Limited and ineffective movable shades are wheeled in for breakfast but most of the Terrace remains in the full blaze of the sun. There are insufficient tables on the Terrace for all Guests and, of those which are there, only those on the front row (probably 6) are usable with any degree of comfort. The Restaurant area itself is effectively unusable at Breakfast. Bedrooms are adequate but the quality of furnishing is very flimsy and, according to at least one other guest, prone to collapse or failure. Oddly the bedrooms are located on all floors and, for reasons of privacy, many of the rooms on the first 3 floors are very unappealing. The hotel has only one lift and there were few occasions when it was not being used by management and/or staff. Cleaning appears to be random in public areas and bedrooms. Linen was not changed with the regularity claimed and there are no pool/beach towels. The pool area is visually attractive with a reasonable supply of sunbeds. However, there is virtually no natural shade and the cheap movable sunshades regularly became dangerous missiles in the regular afternoon breezes. We saw no evidence of regular pool hygiene and the surround to the pool was very slippery when wet. Unlike some other reviews we did not find the pool-side taped music too loud although we did learn that requests to temper the volume met with a total lack of interest or response

- food ranges from very disappointing (breakfast) to inedible (dinner). Breakfast is a buffet and the range of salads (mainly mixed) and cold meats is appropriate. Unfortunately these are not labelled and many of the dishes appear to be simply brought out of the refrigerator on a daily basis. Cereals/muesli was limited to two poor quality children’s’ breakfast cereals. Coffee was available intermittently as the single machine often did not work. Tea was often missing. The juices were not fresh. Yoghourt was frequently unavailable. Worst of all was the cooked food. The same four hot trays of cheap ingredients, poorly cooked, appallingly presented and often cold and not replaced was what was on show every day. The only edible part of this offer was the boiled eggs although these were simply all hard boiled and piled in a tray. For those on half board the evening meal was even worse. Once again the only acceptable part was the range of salads (although they did seem to have a marked similarity to what had been seen every previous breakfast). Again the style was mainly buffet. Hot food was two trays of either a fish or a meat variety, two trays of pasta or potatoes and one tray of vegetables. The hot offering was “served” by the surly chef who decided what each Guest would have with a total disregard for a preference from the limited choice available. Sweets were limited but not on the scale of awfulness of the rest. Eventually we (and many others) gave up on evening meals and went to local restaurants. Half board should not even be contemplated. Poolside snacks were acceptable but we failed to identify the claimed food facilities described on the Hotel’s website.
- if the food was unacceptably poor the “management” was even worse. As previously stated there were individuals among the staff who tried really hard to provide the sort of service which is conventionally acceptable at any level. However, the managers responsible for those staff appeared to see their role as bullying either their staff or (in preference) bullying the guests. They seemed to see their function as being to “police” their guests’ use of facilities with the solitary aim of maximising every opportunity to gain income. The hotel operates a pre-paid card system to pay for “extras”. The system is unexplained to Guests on arrival but once one has “charged” the card with sufficient credit its use is a prerequisite to receiving any drinks or service. In such a hot climate hydration is essential but every opportunity is taken to charge (through the card system) for any drinks (including water) and to limit any element of “self-service” in this respect. Once again these policies/strategies/rules are not explained on arrival or by clear notice but are severely “policed” in a highly aggressive manner. The Reception Manager (who claimed to be General Manager) strutted around issuing random orders to staff and guests alike with no discernible routine or responsibility. His aggressive demeanour translated to open rudeness and attempted intimidation. The rather threatening man who lurked in strategic observation points was identified as “the owner” and claimed conveniently (but rather unconvincingly) to speak little English. Then there was Willy the Masseur whose persistent sales pitch is described in another review (ChippsLondon). I had the misfortune of allowing myself to be sold a treatment. The Sauna and Turkish Bath were good (not delivered by Willy) but the massage was uncomfortable, invasive and possibly dangerous. Wide-ranging experience of such treatments elsewhere in the World allow me to rank this as the worst ever encountered. Rarely does one expect to see certificates of quality or qualifications in such circumstances. With Willy it might be a prudent precedent to any purchase.
- Previous reference has been made to a lack of information for guests. Worryingly this extends to all aspects of safety. We saw little in the form of fire regulations or advice. Facilities for anyone with “special needs” are virtually non-existent or unusable. We witnessed a Guest who required use of a wheelchair finding the token ramp facility to be unusable due to its steepness and the lack of any handrail. The lack of information combined with the untrained staff and the incompetent and uninterested management leave one fearful of any ability to deal with any unexpected circumstance let alone an emergency.
- Turunc is beautifully located and is still a relatively quiet resort. The town/village is not pretty and the grit and shingle beach is not particularly appealing. Restaurants and bars on the main street shops tend towards the garish with multiple TVs and non-aggressive street-side marketing/touting. Shops are limited but again friendly and bartering is not aggressive. We saw no occasions of excess behaviour by residents or holidaymakers and the atmosphere gave a feeling of safety. Others have commented on the challenging road access to Turunc. We arranged a private transfer from Dalaman Airport which felt safe, comfortable and extremely welcoming. It also had the benefit of an extraordinarily helpful website at www.holiday-at-turunc.com and hugely helpful people at their main street office.
As a family we have enjoyed travelling to many parts of the world enjoying a wide range of experiences and facilities. Usually hotels deliver approximately the quality at which they are rated or to which they aspire. Shortcomings are often made up for by the efforts of staff and management. The Meril is unique in our experience for its inconsistencies and particular its failure to even attempt to deliver its own aspirations – facilities are poorly-designed and 3 star (at best); food and organisation 2 star; management 1 star (and that is generous).
