was recently away for my holiday- 14th October, for a week. On arrival, I was told by the manager of the hotel that most things were closing but, if able to get 10-12 people together, there might be a boat trip they could do. The manager also stated that the Greek night might not go ahead, when I asked. The next day, we noticed in town (which is only 5 mins down hill) that the shops were closing and most other places had been shut for a while. By the 16th October, all boats, jet skis and parascending boats had been removed from the beach and most of the sunbeds put away. They were even putting the green boards away, that you walk on on the beach. The Greek night was cancelled, even though there was at least 25 people still in the hotel. Another negative to this hotel is that the towels are very hard, they needed some softener. Using the towels would have definitely taken off your skin! On the plus side, the cleaners did do a good job and the hotel was clean. I would otherwise advise against going in October, since there was no entertainment, no shops open and no excursions. The hotel staff had already clocked off- you could tell that the holiday was over for them and they felt that we should have all gone home. Unlike most hotels, there was not any kind of 'holiday/excursion' board in Reception. There were only a few leaflets in a pile on the bar (I never noticed these until it was too late) but they were actually for the boat trips on the beach, owned by the brother of the hotel owner. These leaflets would have given us a 20% discount for the boat trips, had I of been made aware by the hotel staff. We did end up booking a different boat trip, which was sadly cancelled due to the weather conditions. This was a shame as we had been stuck in the hotel all week due to the town's closure. On our last day, we noticed some black smoke from the beach. When we got to the top of the hill, we noticed that there was a wild fire in the field behind the hotel. We told the bar staff, on their response they had no clue of the fire and did not know what to do. Within 20 minutes of spotting the fire, we were engulfed with smoke and ash, making it hard to breathe. The staff did not check the rooms for unaware holiday guests and there was no smoke alarms or any kind of protocol for evacuation. It was then we demanded a taxi to get us to the airport. …
