Detailed Reviews
The location is indeed an excellent choice for going places in either part of the island while benefiting from its very close proximity to the great Golden beach. But beyond location, the spot is breathtaking, offering a panoramic view of the golden beach and the surrounding mountains. The unique olive trees amidst the balcony-like common breakfast/lounge area,as well as the minimal still elegant decoration throughout, make the difference, blending beautifully with the natural landscape. Anna, the host, is such a sweet person, while very professional and with great tips for less touristic and more local approaches to the diversity of the island. Rooms extremely comfortable, cleanness at its best, and tastefully decorated. Indeed a place we would definitely return, as it's beauty and vibe cannot be captured in any of our camera lenses!!!

We spent ten days here and it was the perfect seaside holiday. The villa is strategically positioned at the north end of Potamia Bay, thus offering amazing views over the entire bay and Golden Beach. Actually you can reach the beach by foot in less than 15 minutes.
The rooms are spotlessly clean (they are actually cleaned every day) with comfortable bed and fluffy towels. And all feature a balcony towards the beautiful view of the bay.
The breakfast buffet has a lot of options, with a touch of local products (local pine honey, olive oil). Some cakes and pastries are changed on a daily basis. The breakfast serving area has both an indoor and an outdoor side, so you can take your breakfast or enjoy your coffee while watching the sea (the villa faces west, so you have shadow in the morning).
The place is run by Nicki and her family in a professional manner and it was a very nice experience to have met them. Thank you, Nicki!

The host is a wonderful person, nice and kind, willing at any time to help you. The rooms are large, with sea view, bright and very clean. Cleaning is done daily, very seriously. Breakfast is fresh, tasty and varied, with local products.
The property has parking and a beautiful yard!

We stayed for 9 days June/July. The accommodation is beautiful, garden, terrace view all so picturesque. Nikki is amazing host, gave us tips for all the places to visit, tavernas and beaches. For anyone who wants a relaxed stay, with great view, close proximity to the beach and nice breakfast, this is your place. Big thanks to Nikki from Nikola, Jelena and Boris!

We stayed here with friends a few years ago and had a fabulous time. Our friends went back the next year. Last year we had a change but we are all going back this year.
Stunning setting, lovely hotel, fabulous views and lovely people who run the hotel - what more could you ask.
If you enjoy a peaceful setting with a few nice restaurants in beautiful surroundings then this is the place to go.

My fianci and I arrived back from Thassos last sunday and had a great holiday so had to write a review.
I booked our 7 day hol through Sky Travel 3 days before we flew from Manchester. (We had been looking for a cheap holiday where we could both relax and soak up some rays!!!) We got it really cheap and were happy we were flying with Thomson.
The flight was ok (despite my fear of flying!) and we arrived in Kavala to hot sunny weather which is always a good start!
We then got told we would be at Blue Bay Hotel in Golden Beach - we booked allocation on arrival and at first were wary as never done this before!! We left our cases there and these would be sent to our hotel in a truck while we went to the island by coach and ferry. The ride to the ferry took approx 20 mins and we were slightly put off by having to do this as had been up since 1am that morning! The ferry ride itself was interesting to watch! I deffo wouldnt want to take my car on the ferry as the cars, etc are parked like sardines. The passengers can sit on the top deck and watch the world go by as you sail across to Thassos.
Once we got to Thassos we got onto another coach and set off for the hotel. We were dropped off at the Hotel Federa and told to wait for a taxi to take us to the Blue Bay. We got to the hotel (which is up a track approx 800m from the main Resort of Golden Beach! This track is extremly dark at night as hardly any lights and I wouldnt have walked down it on my own!) We couldnt believe how beautiful the view was! The mountain backdrop and the bay - breath taking! The accommodation itself was very clean and simple with a double bed and a patio area. The staff there are very friendly and speak good English!
Golden Beach is deffo one of the quietest resorts we have been to but has a choice of restaurants, tavarnas, etc, mostly all on the beach front. We are only 20 and 25 and were probably one of the youngest couples there. One nice cafe is the Dolphin Cafe and we went there everyday for breakfast. It is run by a lovely english couple and the food is nice and cheap!
The beach itself has lovely golden sand and the sea was quite calm. There is a sort of strange looking machine further up the coast towards the next resort in the sea but this didnt put us off.
One night we went into Thassos town - we did want to go by the water taxi which leaves everyday at 4:15 but was told that this particular day it wasnt running so we got a taxi which was 11euros (price goes up after midnight) Thassos town seemed a nice place with shops and many restaurants. The habour there is lovely and it did seem to get busy after about 9pm.
We also spoke to a couple who had paid £700 for the week and had gone through thomson directly where we had paid nearly half as much as that! The journey back was a nightmare though - when checking in our luggage at Kavala airprt we were told that our suitcases were over weight (we were never told this on the outward journey!) We explained this to the check in staff and was told that if you book a late holiday your luggage allowance is only 15kg per person! We then had to pay 72 Euros to get our 'overweight' suitcases back to Manchester!! They only take cash as well!!! The flight was also very bumpy and turburlant and was very glad to land! Sorry if Ive gone on and on but wanted readers who are off to Thassos to know more info! We ourselves had never heard of the place before but would go back tomorrow if we could!!!

I wasn't sure whether to write a review, as i don't want this wonderful hotel to become too popular in case i can't get in! But it deserves a fantastic review.
The views are truly breathtaking. All rooms face the bay so nobody misses out! And watching dolphins as we ate breakfast in the pretty garden is one memory that will stay for a long time!
The rooms are absolutely spotless, and the owners happy and obliging.
We love Thassos, particularly Golden Beach, and have been coming for many years. now that we have found The Blue Bay, we won't be trying anywhere else. Perfection!

A friendly small immaculately clean & tidy hotel with fantasic views across the bay and mountains. Some lovely gentle walks and for the more serious walker some hill walking. The hotel has a small bar which stays open until you are ready to sleep - Anna and her family speak extremely good English and are very helpful. Breakfast is taken in the garden which are kept beautiful but the down side to this are the wasps which can become a pain whilst trying to eat. The beach is safe & clean with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. There are two mountain villages which are a long up hill walk (about an hours steady walking) but only a short taxi ride away costing a couple of euros. Both villages are next to each other and are well worth a visit with some lovely little individual shops, bar & a couple of resturants. The boat leaving 4.30pm each day to Thassos town is another good trip and Thassos is nice safe and easy to stroll around. I will return to Thassos it is a beautiful, safe and easy going island. My only critism about the Blue Bay Hotel is I would have liked to have had a fridge in the room for water/wine/fruit & nibbles etc. However, this wouldn't stop me from returning.

We went to Thasos in Sept 05 it was our first visit which we enjoyed very much.
Staying in the small resort of Golden Beach, it has a lovely strech of soft white sand with sun beds & umbrella's limited water sports & the usual kiosk for drinks etc.
There are about 6 excellent restaurants on the beach/main road, only one main road in Golden Beach with roads going off it up to the accomodations in the hillside that gives fantastic views over the bay.
Hotel Blue Bay is truly amazing all rooms with sea view that will be hard to beat any where a bit like Austria.
The Greek family that owns and run this hotel are so friendly and kind people return year after year.
It is a bit of a trek from the beach/restaurants a good half mile up a lane with only 2 other hotels that are well spaced apart,no good for people who don't like walking, there is a car park for those that hire a car.Once in your room & balcony the peace & view are well worth it.If it's hustle & bustle you want from a holiday then don't go to Golden Beach, Thasos Town has more going on but is still laid back.
The only down side for us was the number of wasps that were about, any one with wasp allergies should bear this in mind.
