Wonderful location, our holiday was nearly perfect! The walk through the olive trees made our way to the beach and restaurants a pleasure... Our villa and pool were spotless, the view exquisite! We really enjoyed our staying at Eleonas,Gialova is a nice and relaxing village, with beautiful surroundings -the perfect holiday in pandemic times.
We stayed for a week in a one bedroom villa with private pool and cannot fault the accommodation or location. Nestled in an olive grove, the villa was very clean, and though not luxurious, has everything you need for a perfect holiday. The pool was cleaned every day and the villa cleaned twice weekly by a team of ladies that 'blitz' the place. The air con and wifi work very efficiently. You get fantastic views across the bay and beyond and everything feels very private. Our villa was at the top of the hill.... so be prepared for a climb if you don't have a car! The village of Gialova is small but with a variety of restaurants and bars set on the seafront, so you get amazing views of the spectacular sunsets. I can honestly say we didn't have a bad meal while we were there and the portions are very generous. Yiannis, is very helpful and arranged for us to move to an apartment on our last day as we had a late flight, at no additional cost. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a laid back, relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.…
Lovely secluded maisonette, private and in it's own garden. Well designed complex, nobody overlooking each other, very quiet with servicing every three days. Fantastic and efficient team of ladies, thank you! Beautiful Gialova with lovely restaurants, totally Greek, no Irish bars! A great place to get away from it all. We didn't have any transport, ( I would suggest you did!) which meant we didn't see all that we wanted to but certainly developed some calf muscles getting up the hill! The nearby beaches are lovely and a lot of time was spent by the pool, very clean & relaxing. A great holiday, with very helpful hosts, Inge & Yiannis always there to help. Would highly recommend, we loved it!
I seriously cannot praise Eleonas Holiday Homes enough. We had a 3-bedroom villa with private pool - the villa was spotlessly clean, spacious and nicely laid out, with excellent air-conditioning and beautiful views. The pool was simply awesome, completely private and not overlooked by any other properties. Sitting around the pool you feel as if you have achieved holiday utopia -- incredible views across the hills of Messinia, cicadas chirping, beautiful orange/yellow butterflies flitting around red and orange flowers; the sun sets over the lagoon and you never tire of watching the colours of the sky change as night falls. The walk down to Gialova takes about 15 minutes and if you are lucky you will be adopted by Mylos, the owner's dog; she will lead you down and hang around chilling on the waterfront until you are ready to walk back! Everyone in Gialova knows her and she is such a sweet, gentle creature, so charming. It is a lovely walk, through the olive groves and lemon trees and coming back at night with the cicadas singing away is so atmospheric and idyllic (if you are OK with walking uphill!) Gialova waterfront is lovely and just busy enough to have a great atmosphere, with plenty of tavernas and bars. The area is fascinating if you love history, which we do. We visited Nestor's Palace, circa 1200 BC, also Methoni and Koroni with their Venetian castles; further afield (each around 2 hours drive) were the ancient site of Olympia and the Byzantine city of Mystras and modern Sparta. The people of Messinia, even by Greek standards, were so lovely and friendly, so helpful and patient. Last but by no means least were the owners, Ioannis and Inge, who were fantastic, really helpful, friendly and happy people (mind you if I lived there I would be pretty happy too).... To sum up, it was a wonderful stay, I cannot remember a better one. We never go back to a property twice -- but we will certainly make an exception for Eleonas, simply fabulous.…
We stayed in a one bedroom appartment with its own pool which was very private and breezes kept it cool for sunbathing. All buildings face in different directions and have their own gardens around them, surrounded by a working olive grove, so it feels luxuriously rural and isolated by your pool yet only a few minutes from a well stocked little supermarket also selling local produce. Best to have a car. Good balcony with stunning views over the bay. A great selection of Restaurants are five minutes drive away, with a choice of beaches including water sports and a few bars with sun beds etc. In early June it was very quiet and few tourists. The apartment was serviced twice during our week stay and was very clean. We are definitely coming back.
