Book at dianibackpackers.com/booking to qualify for free accommodation. More stylish and security conscious than the average backpackers, Diani Backpackers has dorms and privates in a lovely house. Come to party at the 24-hour bar and pool, chill out in the lush garden, or catch up on sleep in the baobab dorm, where beds wrap around the trunk of a tree. There's a volleyball court, great daily menu and lockers. Turn right after KFI supermarket. Must be at least 18 years old

First of all this is not a hotel, self catering bnb, or real backpacker, It's More like a homeless shelter which fits teens , college kids or any party junkies. So far Diani backpackers is the worst Place I have ever been mainly because of hygiene, They have an idea of a

Originally found this place on Hostelworld, where they advertised “self catering facilities”. Only after I got back from the store loaded with food was I informed guests couldn’t use the kitchen. After explaining my situation to the guy at reception I was told I could PAY to use

Dear Kayla, It seems you had a different expectation for the self catering. It was selected because you can, unfortunately on Hostelworld there is no setting to add a charge for the use of the facilities. I deselected self catering facilities from the list. We still have the option to use our facilities, gas & a few cooking basics against a small charge. Guests can cook for themselves. I agree that it might be better to understate, this way we can positively surprise with this option. We are sorry that things were not up to standard during your stay. The main complication for the showers & the pool was a day long scheduled power cut (in almost the whole of Kenya) during your stay. Pumps were therefore not running like they usually do, which caused those problems. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. I will look at the lockers and have them repaired. We hope you will give us a second chance sometime. We did not get the Hostelworld reward for nothing & would like a chance to make it up to you! Thanks for making me check our facility settings - I was able to add our new pool table to the list. No hard feelings Kayla, it was bad timing. Sincerely,

Hey Chris, Cheers for your regular visits & this excellent feedback. We do have an 18+ policy because of our bar though, so we are not really a family place. I just wanted to correct that. Thank you.

If you want to stay up all night from partying junkies, go for it. If you want to be insulted by the other guests because you are a bit older, go for it. If you want to be ignored by the staff after you raise your concerns, go for it. If you want to ruin your stay in Diani, go

Dear Discover301204, D&C, We are very sorry you didn't have a great stay with us! But I'd like to set a few things straight. The only negative mention against Diani Backpackers is that we did not attend your concern, which is untrue. The rest is other guests not behaving the way you like. We are not a place for partying junkies. We are a place for travelers seeking to enjoy & explore Diani with like minded backpackers from around the world. We are advertised with 24h Bar & Reception as well as a pool that is open 24h (except maintenance times). We usually manage noise & music well after midnight. We sincerely apologize if that was not the case during your stay! You had some negative encounters with a couple other guests, felt offended by their language while you had dinner. Next day, you were disturbed late at night by other guests playing Flunky Ball close to your cottage. When you came out to help this situation, we did attend to you: The guests were moved away from your cottage and the music was turned down. You returned to your cottage. You checked out early the next morning, staying a night less then you had booked. I don't understand how you come to conclude that we have ignored you and your concern. We can't take responsibility for other guests actions or behavior as long as they comply with our house rules and we have attended you when you raised your concern. Knowing your problem with the stay, we did not charge you cancellation for the last night. And, on the day of your sudden check out, I did whatsapp you our apologies along if an offer for a refund. This message has been read & ignored from you until this review and after. You like holding a grudge over talking to the person who can release it. I hope this one sided review gave you some air. We did not intend to ruin your stay, but it's also not all our fault! We knew you didn't like it during & after your stay and tried to help you during & after your stay, so your holiday would not be ruined. But this help, our immediate apology, and our offer to make it up to you were ignored. You choose revenge in this review. Instead of talking to me & letting us make it up, you bashed in-constructively against entire an business & their staff for things other guests did. Not very just! We hope you will find more privacy & peace during your next holiday. We do not discriminate by age but if you do want to book with us, consider if an average of 25-30 young backpackers in a beach destination with lots of bars is the right social environment for you. Sincerely,

Hi, whats the best way to get here from Masai Mara Safari please?
Hi Safarilink flies to the coast from the Mara, however flights are quite expensive. The cheaper option would be for you to go the Nairobi, and from there you can fly to Ukunda with Jambojet for about 6,000 ksh one way.
