This hotel is situated in a perfect location to access restaurants such as the Goan village, Octima and Mike’s places to name a few. Our room had a lovely balcony. Music within the area stops at 23:00 hrs which is necessary due to the location & getting a good night sleep. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10:30, we had no complaints.
1: There is a fridge in the room.
2: Ample storage to hang clothes on rails rather than wardrobes.
3: Two bottles of water are provided in the room on arrival. Water is not replenished daily but there is plenty of shops locally to buy water.
4: The room is air conditioned & there is a ceiling fan.
5: There are adequate plugs in the room.
6: There is access to a walk-in shower, however the bathroom is basic but serves the purpose.
7: Rooms are cleaned daily, pillows and towels are very worn but clean.
8: There is access to a safe in the room, a key is provided which you keep for your duration.
9: There is coffee & tea facilities.
10: This is a 3 storey building with no access to a lift. There are a lot of steps which could be a problem if you have mobility issues.
11: The staff were lovely & very accommodating.
12: The hotel accept cash and card. There is a 12% charge if you use a card.
In conclusion a great price for a basic clean hotel in a fabulous location.

Just back from a lovely 2 weeks at Casa de Cris in Cavellosum beside Mobor beach.
Our room was ensuite, spacious with a nice balcony. Housekeeping came in every day with fresh towels and sheets were changed regularly.

Good guesthouse accommodation (not a luxury hotel) with room fridge , kettle , cups and glasses - very comfortable bed. Everything you could expect for the price.

Location is good with restaurants nearby and a 10-15 minute walk to the wonderful beach with its choice of beach shacks each with great menus, including one owned and operated by our Guesthouse host, James.

We have already booked for next year!

Clean, friendly basic accommodation. Very good location. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Extremely good value for this type of no frills accommodation.

However, there is no lift so if you struggle with stairs Id chose a different place. They only have two ground floor rooms.
Wifi not very good, but it’s the same everywhere in all honesty.

The breakfast is very basic. Eggs, toast, cornflakes or porridge. Again, you cant complain for the cost.
Casa di Cris is located in a very lively street with loud live music every night. But it does finish between 10:00-11:00pm. So not really annoying.

There is a taxi service to and from the beach everyday and I can’t praise the staff that do this service enough. They are so helpful.
All in all I would come back again.

Had a fantastic time here! This is a charming, quaint & well run stay. Loved the location as it’s in the heart of all the exciting convenient things within the town. Mikes Place is the family related restaurant next door that is fun & convenient as you have live music, scrumptious food that creates a family joyful ambience.
Got an excellent room with a spacious balcony, all the amenties that you can expect at a stay are provided & is cosy, clean. Special shoutout to Susan & LIsa for being helpful always & making sure we had a comfortable time. Shout out to Tony, Omkar & Vicky as well for their assistance throughout our stay.
You will appreciate the meaningful touches, well curated greenery & breakfast area through the estate. Can’t wait to revisit again soon.

This place is tucked away in a side street off the main drag. Rooms are spacious and facilities adequate (2star) but airconditioning is poor and Wifi very poor. Need to go across the road to the owner's brother's place(Mikes Place to get reasonable internet coverage

This was our first time to Goa and as always we researched places to stay before we booked. Casa de Cris already had great reviews on Trip Advisor, and it certainly deserves these.

We booked almost 10 months in advance and were a bit wary that we hadn't been asked to leave a deposit, but all emails were quickly replied to by James. No problems at all - just pay in full on arrival or a day or two into the holiday (or I guess at the end would also be ok.)

We arrived at Casa de Cris at 4.30am after a bit of a crazy taxi drive from the airport (the taxi drivers think they are in formula 1.) Tony was there with a big smile to greet us and quickly registered us and carried our bags to the room. The room was big and airy, very clean, simply decorated, satellite TV, new kettle, air conditioning (free) and ceiling fan. The bathroom is also big and is basically a wet room with toilet and shower. The bed is large although a little bit too firm for us but we were told by others this is normal in Goa. The room was cleaned daily, fresh towels and bedding changed reguarly.

Casa de Cris is in a really good location and we always worry about noise at night, but it is really quiet apart from the car/bike/bus horns that start at about 6am. However, these apply whether you are in any of the 5 star hotels too, and Casa de Cris is not actually on the main road unlike them.

To be honest we didn't make it to Mike's for breakfast very much (hungover quite a lot) but the staff there were very friendly and the food is fairly simple but nice - toast/eggs/juice/coffee. We weren't sure from previous reviews how far Casa de Cris was from Mike's but it is simply next door - 20ft away.

We spent almost everyday at the 2 beach bars / restaraunts that the family have - Cafe Beach Hut and Mike's place. The beach is around 10 minutes walk from Casa de Cris to the main area (around Cafe Beach Hut) and then about another 20-25 minutes walk to Mike's Place on a nice flat stretch of beach. We made the walk to Mike's just about every day BUT there is a free jeep from Casa de Cris to either of the 2 places, and then they will call it when you want to return. We loved it at Mike's Place on the beach - all of the staff were great and the food is fantastic - superb value for money. We would often then stroll down to the Beach Hut for a sundowner or 2 - a great place to see the sun disappear into the sea. Also great staff and a wonderfull atmosphere.

All in all an excellent choice whether this is your first time in Goa or you have been before and just want a nice quality place to stay.

Thanks to everyone who helped us enjoy our time so much - including 'The Policeman' - the security guard that we had fun with on a night but didn't catch his name!!

We stayed at Casa de Cris just before Easter, just as the season was coming to an end. Both the property and the rest of Cavelossim was quiet as a result.
I had booked the accomodation by e-mail from the UK as we were travelling independently. We arrived on the train from Mumbai and after a short auto-rickshaw ride, we arrived at Casa de Cris to be met by Brenda, the extremely friendly, polite and helpful receptionist. Brenda was expecting us and greeted us by our names. A quick call to Tony, and Tony came and showed us to our room, on the top floor. Very bright, spacious and clean. The bed was huge and worthy of a 5* hotel. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day and clean towels provided. There is no swimming pool, but as other reviewers note, a short ten minute stroll and you will be on the beach sitting at a shack enjoying a cold Kingfisher. We had breakfast every morning at Mike's Place, over the road. A simple breakfast of toast, coffee and eggs (included in the room price). Casa de Cris is centrally located in Cavelossim, and it is a short walk to visit the other bars, restaurants and stalls nearby. We have visited North Goa previously, and we both agreed that it was the best accomodation we had stayed in, although South Goa is noticeably more expensive. If you like to be more independent and want to stay in a very resonably priced hotel, that is both very clean and welcoming, then I would recommend this to you. There are not many places in India that don't charge extra for fridges, air conditioning and room safes - an added bonus. And what a joy to stay at a hotel that gives you a fridge to put your own beer in! Don't be afraid of exploring - the bus at the end of the road will take you in either direction. Buses are cheap and a good way of meeting the locals. If you want to try Goa but are a little afraid of what to expect, Casa de Cris will provide you everything you need, and also provide you with more of an interaction with India than if you stay in some posh complex. Well worth the visit.

After experiencing a fantastic holiday staying at Casa de Cris in Nov 2013 as a single female traveller, I decided to return with friends in November 2014.

Greeted with a big smile and a very warm welcome by Tony at 2.30am on arrival, we were quickly shown to our rooms. I was certainly not disappointed, it over exceeded any of my expectations as the new extension and refurbishment has given a feel of entering 4 star accommodation.

A large double room (spotlessly clean) was completed to a very high standard and consisted of a flat screen TV- with full channel listing, air conditioning, fridge, safe, coffee making facilities, large comfy beds with white crisp linen, spacious bathroom with shower. The rooms and bed linen were changed every day and was maintained at that standard for 14 days of my stay.

The experience of Casa de Cris was not just about the high standard of rooms - set within the grounds where the Barretto family live, you really were made to feel like part of it, with amazing staff on hand, absolutely nothing was too much trouble.

With a gentle relaxed feeling there was never a dull day - ranging from beautiful boat trips
(Cris Cruises) organised and captained by Steve, to lounging during the day on the quiet beaches to the legendary beach shack parties on an evening hosted by Mike and James.

Mike Place - The restaurant was on site and held entertainment on an evening - Mike, Lizzie, James and Steve were always around with again a very genuine warm welcome, the food was excellent and cooked to order, the staff were brilliant - all of them, I really cannot fault anything.

As a experienced global traveller, I can honestly say this Casa de Cris really does have something special....Fantastic place, lovely family, amazing staff.

Well done...Missing it already...

We have done 5* and we have done budget and with Casa de Cris you get 5* service at budget prices.
Great service and friendly faces from the cleaners to the very dedicated Manager Tony. They all went out of there way to make us welcome.
Fabulous breakfast at Mikes Place sets you up for the day and you can catch the jeep to the beach if your legs are not so good.
The rooms at Casa are airy and clean with free A/C and TV with good sports channels.
I cannot say enough about the boys at Mikes Place and at the beach shacks affiliated with Casa de Cris . So friendly and genuine they made our holiday.
We will be back .

My husband and I have just returned from Goa where we spent a week at the marvelous Casa de Cris in Mobor, Cavelossim.

This accommodation -available through Olympic Holidays- far exceeds it's 2* rating with immaculate, comfortable rooms with spacious bathrooms and balcony area, friendly and helpful staff and a convenient location. Tony and the staff bent over backwards to ensure we had a great stay, organising taxis and trips for us and recommending places to visit locally.

The restaurant for the hotel is located across the road and has an exceptional menu to cater for all tastes. The hotel also owns two beach shacks -one located 5 minutes away on Cavelossim Beach, and the other a 20 minute walk on Mobor Beach. Both shacks are open till late and also offer fantastic food and entertainment -the beach party is especially recommended with fireworks, fire jugglers and traditional dancing.

Although the area has an aray of new hotels cropping up right, left and centre, I think you would be hard pushed to find a better stay. The hotel also has plans for a new swimming pool to be installed later this year.
