We stopped at Salagardos Palm Village Apartments in early March, as part of a group of 12 ,the weather was the worst I’ve experienced on a golf trip which didn’t help matters, the complex itself is dated with no amenities close by,the rooms are spacious and ok but very dark we looked out on to the pool area which wasn’t very appealing, the staff at the hotel were very helpful, the food in the restaurant is plentiful and decent but it is served on cold plates, you have to put the plates in the microwave to warm them up before putting your food on and this solved the problem, the bar on site is like a works canteen and the drinks are of poor quality but as they say you get what you pay for. If you’re on a budget this is the resort for you, but personally I’d rather pay a bit more, we played golf at Alamos , Margado and Salgardos the later course been the best in my opinion but like I said at the beginning the weather was poor and made the golf every difficult in 25 to 30 mph wind and heavy rain showers.I much prefer Vilamoura as a base and to visit different restaurants on an evening and visit a couple of bars afterwards and the golf courses are close at hand including the Old Course which is always special. The golf aspects of our holiday were fantastic, Golfbreaks ensured everything ran smoothly and that all pick ups were on time. The accommodation was fine, but the food was not. We did not consume any hot food once. The restaurant was exceptionally quiet, which suggests that the other guests swiftly decided to eat elsewhere after using the restaurant once. The bar staff were great but the facilities were poor. I am not sure why beer is served in a plastic cup inside of such a highly rated hotel.

We could not fault the organisation of our golf tour by Golfbreaks. Everything ran smoothly & very efficently. The accommodation was excellent, however the food was not. We did not have a hot meal once. The choice was good, but everything was tepid at best. The Sports bar was shut and the lobby bar was like a school canteen. I will admit that we had less than clement weather, so sitting outside was not an option. The staff were good and very helpful. So, in summary an good resort spoilt by the catering and the bar facilities.

During my four-night stay, I found the rooms to be impressively spacious, albeit a bit dark and dull. The inclusion of two bathrooms and a large seating area made it one of the most generously sized rooms I've experienced on holiday. However, the water situation left much to be desired, as only one tiny bottle per person per day was provided. Unfortunately, the bar and reception staff were unwilling to offer additional bottles, forcing us to purchase our own – a letdown for an all-inclusive stay. My mornings were disrupted by loud maintenance work starting at 8 AM in the room next door on two occasions, without any prior warning from the hotel or acknowledgment from the front desk upon arrival. The non-functioning air conditioning was a minor inconvenience, fortunately mitigated by cooler weather. The hotel boasted numerous pools and sunbeds, though the inclement weather prevented me from testing them out. However, I noticed various bits of rubbish, including cable ties, in some of the pools – a detail that detracted from the overall experience. Now, onto the food – a major disappointment. Despite a decent variety, the quality fell far short of expectations for a purported four-star hotel. Much of the cold food was stone cold and unappetizing. The poor quality often forced us to dine elsewhere, with some dishes even undercooked. The bar area, frequently understaffed, led to considerable wait times for drinks. The beer, served in the smallest plastic cups available, tasted watered down. While there was a commendable selection of cocktails and sports on TV, one of the two screens was broken. The lackluster atmosphere, dated games machines, and scattered furniture made the bar area less than inviting. Additionally, with only two toilets outside, queues were common. The hotel's location, a 20-minute taxi ride from the strip, prompted us to venture out most nights to escape the lackluster ambiance. In summary, my overall experience at the hotel was subpar. Despite its claimed four-star status, I've encountered better accommodations in three-star establishments. While a busier summer season might improve some aspects, certain issues were inexcusable and would deter me from considering a return.

We wouldn’t even rate this a one for this review as it’s a zero! On arrival about half a dozen people behind reception all looking glum including the girl who checked us in. No warm welcome. We were told we were in a refurbished room on 4th floor. If this room was refurbished I’d hate to see the ones that weren’t refurbished! On the way to our room we noticed a sun bed in the middle of a swimming pool. That was there for at least two days! Our hand soap dispenser in the bathroom had fallen off the wall and no attempt during our 5 day visit was that sorted. The shower was so dark we couldn’t even see whether it was shower gel or shampoo in the dispenser! As we had issues with the safe not working and the television the security guard accompanied the maintenance person and he was able to tell me it was shower gel. So a supposedly 4 star hotel with no shampoo! The only mirrors in the room were in the bathroom so if you wanted to use your own hair dryer there wasn’t a mirror in the any of the rooms. The room or suite as they call it was very dark and dismal and quite depressing. The old settees were so uncomfortable. Only paper cups for coffee and tea and plastic cups for all other drinks. The only time we had proper glasses was when they had a group in for a conference and the tables in the evening had glasses for wine and for water! The food was grim. Never piping hot and nearly always cold! The only bar was very rowdy at times and was the only public seating area and the toilets were outside. The golf course was good but the staff working in the Pro Shop not at all helpful or friendly. Although there was a girl working one of the days after our round who was very helpful. Carrying golf clubs the 10 minute walk to the course wasn’t good. We did ask about transport and got a no! When leaving as the luggage person didn’t start until 8 am we had to take all our luggage to the basement car park and drag it to reception! No comments from the staff when we were waiting on transport. A ‘hope you had a nice stay’ would have been good! Anyway, we won’t be back. It is never a 4 star hotel. Even outside the lift broken tiles and no lighting in the hallway and cracks on the wall in the balcony! Would definitely not recommend this place.

We called this the "Brown Hotel" as nearly everything there is brown! Curtains, net curtains, doors, floor tiles, wall tiles, doors & headboards! Even the tiles in the pools are brown which made the pools look very uninviting. On arrival the staff were less than friendly and most spoke very little English. The bathroom has a hand soap dispenser fixed to the wall and in the shower room there was shower gel fixed to the wall. There were no other toiletries and we would expect a supposed "4 star" hotel to at least provide shampoo. Food in the dining room was poor and more than often cold. Wine served in plastic glasses and coffee & tea in paper cups. The bar was a pretty awful experience too. There only ever seemed to be one person serving and no one to control the sometimes very rowdy behaviour we witnessed there. The toilets for the bar are situated outside. We were only there for five nights (thank goodness) and we tried to make the best of our time there. We enjoyed the golf course on site although it is a 10 minute walk carrying our clubs from the hotel and there is no transport to get there. (We did ask but were told no transport available) On the morning of our departure it was raining and we were being picked up at 8am and when we asked for a porter to collect our luggage we were told they didn't start until 8am so we had to make our own way to reception making our way there down through the hotel carpark to avoid getting soaked. When we checked out there were no friendly words from the reception staff - no asking if we enjoyed our stay - maybe as they possibly knew what the answer might be!! I'm sorry to say this is one of the worst hotels we have stayed in and fortunately we will never be back.

Not as good as usual, unfortunately. The suite's 3 aircon units did not work correctly in any room, we had very little sleep on the first night as they kept heating up the rooms and would not turn off unless we turned off all mains power to the Suite. We were only staying 2 nights. The fridge was empty and no water or anything else. We are NAU Moments Loyalty Diamond and Premium members. We asked to move to a T3 to compensate so we could all sleep in separate rooms to guarantee sleep on our 2nd and final night but we were allocated a T2. We packed up all out cases and the staff moved them to the new T2 and we unpacked, again. The new suite's fridge had been filled for us. Everything else was good: food, wine, beer, real juices & milk for children, pools, entertainment, music, kids club, staff, facilities etc but no sleep on the 1st night ruined it for us. Our 2 children had a lovely time and the weather was fantastic 25oC. The room should have been checked by a supervisor or room checker after being prepared as this was the sole problem and affected the entire 3 day visit.... We would return in the future as all else was good. Thank you to all the hard working excellent staff.

A golfing trip with 8 ladies. We have stayed in Salgados before and returned because the accommodation is excellent. The rooms are a great size and very clean. There are areas around the pools with some loose tiles which need attention and easily rectified. The entertainment in evenings this year was very good and service in the bar areas excellent. However I did have to mark the hotel down due to the standard of food. Breakfasts were reasonable and it was great to see an omelette station however this was removed at the weekend which was disappointing. We did not avail of food at lunchtimes as we were golfing but the food in the evenings was exceptionally poor. The food was cold, had sat for long periods and was tasteless - we couldn’t identify the meat in the lasagne which was tasteless anyhow, pizzas were cold. Last year a chef grilled fresh meat(chops, small steaks) or fish but that was absent this year. The soups were like water with no flavour. I managed on salad followed by cake and ice cream for two days and after that we ate out. The experience wouldn’t prevent me from staying again because of the standard of the rooms but with the knowledge that we would inevitably eat out.
