Touched by the Ionian Sea, recently built Golden Mare Barbati hotel in Corfu, Greece, is a beach resort for memorable island holidays. Barbati is located near Pantokratoras mountain and offers a marvelous view over Corfu old town, the Venetian fortress and the far Albanian mountains. Barbati is enriched of lovely bays and hidden caves, perfect place for scuba divers, and has a beautiful white stones beach. Great hotel to stay in for families and friends. Staff were brilliant and super friendly throughout our entire stay. Daniel the driver was amazing and was always there to help. Tyler one of the entertainment staff was a great character, super nice. The room was beautiful and clean when we checked in, our room was cleaned when was asked and looked spotless afterwards. Only downfall is in our bathroom room the drawer under the sink where tissue was supposed to be stored was locked which meant we had to keep asking reception for spares. A second disadvantage was the variety of food available during our stay. Otherwise we had a brilliant time and would definitely return in the future.

First trip to Corfu and our first all inclusive. Family of 4 adults. We booked 2 rooms via Hotel.com and for the price we paid was very good. I would say this is a very good 3 star hotel. We stayed in the block outside the main hotel complex which meant a steep walk up to the block (took 5mins) or take the minibus/golf buggy up. This was never a problem. Only issue is if you wanted to go to the loo then only option was the very small toilets in the main hotel area that had glass doors. The staff were all amazing and whatever you asked they helped. Tyler the entertainment rep was great and chatted every day to all guests and encouraged all to participate in the activities. I think his hands are tied in the availability of facilities to really make the activities more varied. Evening entertainment was a good mixture and worth staying for. Food was good. Agree better labelling needed. Although the food was repeated, there was a big selection and we never had an issue. I would say the food was more 3 star than 4 star standard. I can see why some comments are negative as depending on when you went to eat you may have to wait for food to be replenished. Beer was good but cocktails were very sweet and could see many guests buying branded soft drinks from the shop attached to the hotel (very well stocked). Pool was adequate and we always had a bed although the hotel was not fully booked during the back end of our stay. The hotel needs to really spend time on keeping the dining area and pool area clean. The 2 areas were dirty throughout our stay and greater attention to cleaning the floors would resolve this. Our rooms were clean and made up daily. Agree with others glasses , cutlery and cups needed better cleaning aswell as the ice cream fridge. It did look like not enough staff (especially at food service time). Overall a good stay and if you get a cheap deal as we did then definitely worth going. Views and location of hotel was fantastic.

Positives: *Absolutely stunning view looking down over Barbati beach. *Rooms are very nice and have a fridge and kettle *Air Con in the room was great * A few restaurants within easy walking distance * Friendly Staff who never stop ( especially the maintenance guy/ driver who take guests up) the hill to the annexe rooms. * Late Checkout until 1.30pm was fab * Breakfast was good Negatives: * Glasses didn’t seem clean, often served with lipstick marks * Food was a little repetitive * Pool area was always full of dirty plates and glasses * The water/ juice and fizzy soft drinks didn’t taste very nice ( the wine and beer were ok though)

After being back in the UK for just a few days, where to start. First of all, the hotel itself is clean and situated in such a beautiful location, the view is impeccable. The room itself was spacious as we were on the ground floor. The only down side was the bathroom door didn’t have a lock on. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Big shoutout to the entertainment team - Lucas and Tyler. They both interacted and had a chat with every single person in the pool area on a day to day basis and made all activities fun. The all inclusive drinks were very good as they had a mixed variety of cocktails and mocktails. The food was good but needed a bit more variety between lunch and dinner and needed to be labelled but these are just small things the can easily be fixed.

Fantastic April one week stay. Outrageous views of Corfu and Albanian mountains, stunning pools with a spacious and modern room. Lovely one week all inclusive stay on first day of opening for Spring season at the Golden Mare, fabulous entertainment staff in Lucas and Tyler who mixed with guests and made all activities a laugh for all ages, top bar staff in Igil and Nefli. All inclusive drinks were top notch with plenty of choices and no long waits to get served, food was decent just needs labelings so guests know what is what. Spacious room in main building, huge bathroom and balcony, cleaners did a good job daily. Some great eve entertainment with live music, quiz and greek dancing!

Just back from an Easter break with the family. I’d read a lot of the reviews before booking and I can agree with some of the negatives that were raised and also many of the positives. To get to the point, we had a lovely holiday and were sad to come back, but we said throughout our stay it could be so much better, as it has so much potential. Let’s get the negatives out of the way… Booked a family room for 4 and description was it would be too doubles, or a double and a twin. What we had was a double and flimsy bunk bed, which might have been ok for toddlers, but not so great for a 15 and 18 year old. And not much privacy in the bathroom with a swing door that doesn’t lock, with frosted glass. I didn’t complain, as decided we just wanted to relax rather than pack up again. Hindsight, I probably should have. Food was good. Some of it delicious, but not that varied through the week. Very rarely any labelling and I have a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant in the family, so got a little tiring having to find a chef. Had to laugh when I asked one chef what a certain meat was and he replied “no idea”. I made a mistake on two occasions thinking I was picking up steak, only to chomp into liver, which I left! Some traditional Greek dishes would be nice, plus shellfish etc. But I must say we all ate well and found something we could enjoy. No hot water for a couple of days which seems to be an annual event looking at previous reviews. Rooftop bar wasn’t open, which was a shame. If you’re skipping lunch for the 4-5pm snacks, you’ll be very disappointed. Doesn’t look like much thought goes into these. There is a lack of inside seating for evening entertainment, but I don’t think that will be a problem in the summer when it’s warmer outside, as loads of outdoor seating. On to the positives and start with the views, as they’re incredible 360 degrees. I’ll really miss that. Staff are great! Those working on the bar are so friendly and helpful and a special note for a lady on reception during the day who was always friendly and helpful. Plus on our last day we had a very late pick up, so she gave us another room for the day at no extra charge, which was classy and really ensured we enjoyed our last day, rather than just hanging around. There are no wrist bands, so you get full use of all inclusive food on drink on your last day, with no curfew, which I’ve not had before. Special note to the entertainment team of Lucas and Tyler. Great lads and great fun! They had limited resources (broken speakers etc!) but they ensured there was something for everyone. They worked tirelessly and were a credit to the hotel. Location was great with a short walk to the local beach, which was lovely. Not a lot open around the beach, but expected in April. Despite my reservations about the room, it was kept spotless by the cleaners. In fact the whole hotel is kept looking very clean and modern. Beer in glasses, rather than plastic cups! And large variety of cocktails (some nicer than others). We could return one day, but would need to check on future reviews to see if any of the negatives have improved. A very good hotel, but could be great with a few changes.

Had a really nice holiday for my birthday! The entertainment rep Tyler was absolutely excellent and made the holiday more enjoyable! Only downside to this and reason I have not put this down as a 5/5 was due to the hotel night manager on our last night swearing at staff in front of guests, and then proceeding to scream at his guests for being too loud rather than just asking politely. This came across very aggressive.

So me and my friend stayed together here. Pros included the views. They were beautiful. The rooms were clean and ours also had an amazing view. The little shop attached to the hotel was great and very reasonable priced. Our room was located at the top of a very steep hill. This was no issue whatsoever as we could manage the walk however it did sometimes take some waiting time for the driver to drive us up.. also, there was problems with the water working in our room. The shower constantly fluctuated freezing cold to boiling hot and the next time it was used we had to wait because the water was off completely. There was no bottled water offered. Only tap. This is no issue as the water is safe to drink however it has a strong mineral taste so we had to buy bottled in the small shop at a very reasonable price €2.20 for 6 big bottles. The food was pleasant. Desserts were lovely. Only problem was that nothing was labelled, so going as a vegetarian or as someone with dietary requirements you have to constantly ask the chef what is in each dish which is slightly frustrating as you keep up the line of people eating each time. There was a slight smell of like drainage/ sewer around the communal areas at times too The only toilets available outside of your room are two women’s/two men’s. I don’t know about the men’s but the women’s had a gap in the door and were frosted tempered glass which was very transparent to the point where my friend could literally see outlines of me sitting on the toilet hahah. Other than that it was enjoyable. There was entertainment if you’re into that, the beach is a 10 min walk away, and there’s restaurants lining the main road so if ur up for a change of scenery there’s lots available.

The hotel is lovely, communal spaces are smaller than most with limited seating during nightime activities can imagine it being more chaotic during peak times. The food is decent but no labels for what anything is so having to ask chef for details. A small number of rooms are up a steep hill but a worker takes you up in his van. Wouldn’t recommend for people with any accessibility issues. The weirdest thing was the public toilets are frosted glass which made it really uncomfortable to use the toilet at nighttime without having to take the van back to our room.
