We were attending a function in Saltburn and required an overnight stay and came across this hotel online. What a delightful find! When I rang to enquire about rooms, the receptionist could not have been more helpful. I asked if the bathroom had a walk-in shower cubicle or a bath with shower over. She confirmed it was a bath with a shower but when I explained I'd recently had a hip replacement operation they offered us the use of the facilities in a ground floor room if required. As it turned out, I was able to manage with the bath but even up to the point of checking in they said if I had any issues, just to call down to them and they would organise the ground floor room for us.

Our room was on the first floor and had a stunning view across the golf course to the sea and the cliffs. The room was large and well furnished and the bathroom was extremely spacious too.

There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room and good quality biscuits provided. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a really good night's sleep. The hotel can organise taxis for you if required and we felt that nothing was too much trouble.

The next morning, we went down for breakfast and had a table next to the window overlooking the same view. There is a good choice of cereal, fresh fruit and yoghurt as well as the full cooked option. The service was good, the staff are all very pleasant and helpful and the food arrived hot and well presented. The bacon and sausages were of a very good quality.

It was a delight to stay here and we felt most welcome. It has a homely atmosphere rather than some of the big impersonal hotels you get and the staff obviously work extremely hard to make everything look so effortless. We would definitely stay here again.

Have just spent last night here with three other couples and what an evening it was.
Despite the offer of early check-in, we didn't arrive until 6.30pn and were shown to our vast room with comfortable bed and clean bathroom.
I was concerned about the hot buffet due to being vegetarian but the chef kindly offered to make a vegetable Wellington.
In hindsight, I needn't have worried as the potatoes in mint, Yorkshire puddings and gravy would've been suffice.
The dessert looked tempting and the cheeseboard was delicious.
The disco had the obligatory cheesy tunes which are guaranteed to get you dancing which was perfect for us.
All staff were attentive and nothing too much trouble.
We managed to get up for breakfast (unlike our hungover friends) and were so glad we did. The portions were huge and delicious.
If you're thinking of staying here or even considering it a wedding venue then I know you wont be disappointed.
A fantastic stay with perfect people and the best bed ever.
Thank you to Stacey the manager and all hardworking staff.

We stayed at Hunley hall GC on a £149 weekend rate for two rounds, dinner, bed and breakfast. It is great value. Right from the beginning, the organisation of our golf trip was first class. Stacey was great at organising the rooms and being able to pay separately was a god send to the organiser, alongside being to book some single rooms for some of the guys was also useful. The rooms were well appointed and all had great showers, and sea views. The lodge at the back of the hotel was very well furnished with loads of space, and it was a good base for the group to meet up and enjoy time together. Although a slightly limited menu, the food in the evening was good, and the full English breakfast was a triumph. The golf course has 27 holes, we played the jubilee and imperial layout. The jubilee was easier, but that was mainly due to the wind on the second day. The holes have water, hanging lies and well placed bunkers. Some of the holes have spectacular views of the coast. Greens were good, tee beds could be improved, fairways were great. The bar is a good place to relax although not that busy, but does have SKY TV and a pool table.

Went to the golf club for a family meal to celebrate a 21st Birthday. Meals were pre order 1 week before the event. On the evening the meals came out only a few at a time leaving one guests to wait for around 20minutes before getting their meal and everyone had finished by this point. The guest asked for their food to be boxed up due to feeling uncomfortable eating in their own.

The chicken Parmesans were under-cooked pink in places with bloody veins in places, these meals were left. some were part eaten due to not looking until the taste made them check... it is possible that these were Turkey Parmesan’s as as family who eats a lot of chicken has never tasted chicken like that before. (Tasted very much like Turkey Drummers with a cheese slice on the top)

Black and blue burgers arrived with a very hard unable to eat bun, had to request a normal bun. The sea bass was the worst a guest has had and the lamb shank priced at £17 came with gravy granules still on the plate. Very disappointing

Informed staff that all guest were unhappy with their meals. a lot of expensive wasted food.

Manger came out and said some chicken has veins in. (I am aware of this however bloody veins shouldn’t be left in cooked food.)

No discount was offer to all guests however they discounted £4 of the birthday girls meal. All the staff then hide in the kitchen.

Due to this we are having to arrange another family meal to celebrate as the birthday girl was left in happy and we don’t want this event to be remembered for her 21st Birthday.

Really really disappointed, will never return.

Just had a one night stay at this lovely hotel. Staff absolutely wonderful. The large bedroom had stunning views. The New Years Eve Celebration was fabulous.
The DJ would play any music you asked for, the hot buffet was really good. Breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent.
We will be back again in the future.
Thank you😊

Went with friends for 2 rounds of golf, evening meal and breakfast
The plus points: room was clean tidy and presentable.
Golf course was good and a good test. Staff helpful.
The bad points: evening meal was atrocious, prawn cocktail starter was just a handful of prawns thrown on a few very wet iceberg lettuce leaves
Couple of lads who had soup had to send back to get warmed up. My main was salmon which was very crisp on the outside but wasn’t too bad. Came with a few lukewarm broccoli florets and some hard( possibly re cooked) new potatoes. The lads who had the chicken parmo had a piece of chicken breast with some form of melted cheese on it and chips that were crap. The lettuce on some of these was almost rotten and when pointed out to server she said would let kitchen know, but we didn’t hear anything else about it.
Desserts were tasteless too
Only one poor lass working behind bar and serving
All the corridors were cold and obviously not being heated
Shower in morning took ages for any hot water to pull through, had to run hot tap in basin and bath to get any.
Breakfast; full English, hash brown was cold, bacon was like shoe leather, black pudding was that hard thought about using it for a ball marker, one cherry tomato cut in half and grilled but cold. Fried eggs were really runny and barely fried. Poached eggs were very runny too. We asked for jam and marmalade for toast. None!!
Think hotel is struggling. Would go back for golf but wouldn’t stay and certainly wouldn’t order any food.
Was going to give one star but golf was good and staff were ok.

This was the 4th visit by our party from Bridlington Golf Club. On arrival you could see the grass was overgrown and the outside was littered with glasses, cups and rubbish. After playing the round of golf we where told the rooms due to staff shortages were not ready it was 5pm before the rooms where available. Evening meal was warm again due to staff shortages. Monday morning on the way down to breakfast found the fire doors on my floor locked this was the same all over the Hotel. Eventually went out by the outside door and went Recepción to find the main door closed, the professional office was open and informed him about the fire doors he told me the Hotel was not open until 9am. This meant at least 26 people had been locked in the Hotel overnight and no one on call. The story goes on all I can say is stay away until it improves.

Response from Claire Smithies, Guest Services / Front Office at Hunley Hotel and Golf Club
Responded 17 Sept 2021
Good Morning and thank you for your feedback expressing your concerns during your stay with us here at Hunley. All your concerns addressed have been thoroughly discussed with the full team who was on duty during your stay with us. The grassed area outside Reception does appear to look overgrown but this is actually the start of our nature conservation area. Seeds have been sown for wild flowers to encourage Bees, this area will look much more appealing to the eye very soon. As explained on your arrival we did have a shortage of housekeeping staff this particular Day which unfortunately we were unaware of until that Morning. All staff tried there very best to try and get you in the rooms as soon as possible and I again apologise that on this occasion we did run behind schedule. With regards to your Evening meal I have spoken with the Chef on duty...again they have apologized and if they had been made aware of your warm food a fresh dish would have been prepared for you. As explained on all guests arrivals we no longer have a Night Porter on duty. The hotel is fully secure and we are linked with a fire security company. An Emergency number is provided to all guests on arrival and an emergency telephone is located on the bedroom corridor. No guests are locked in the hotel overnight as all fire doors along both corridors are for all guests exits once the main hotel area is locked. If you would like to discuss this further with me in person I would be more than happy to do so. Warmest Regards Claire Smithies

I stayed here 2 nights in September and the hotel is unusual, when you drive up it looks like a club house and you expect the hotel to be around the corner. It is all connected together and once we understood there was not an issue.

We were made very welcome and given our keys, my room was a fair trek from reception but I suppose most golfers don't mind a walk. The room was large comfortable and well equipped.

My only 2 niggles about the place was they only offered continental breakfast and the rooms weren't made up unless you were staying for 5 days. I just called the hotel during the day and asked for what I needed and it was in the room when I returned.

I have to say the reasons the niggles were not a major issue was due it being soon after the pandemic related shut down.

In summary, if you like the area or you are a golfer I would highly recommend this hotel.

Oh, forgot to mention I had dinner one evening and it was very nice.

Staff were great, keep up the good work Stacey xx

Just had a great two night stay with dinner & breakfast plus two rounds of golf (3rd round rained off) and would highly recommend a visit. The Staff are great very welcoming and nothing is a bother. The rooms are clean and spacious and very quiet. Evening meals were brilliant and filling, full English breakfast sets you up for the game ahead. After nice atmosphere in the bar made to feel very welcome by the members. The views over the coast are a treat and the course is a challenge but worth your effort greens are excellent. Thanks to everyone at Hunley defo visit again.

Next morning got up for breakfast at 7am to find we were locked in and fire doors locked eventually told breakfast would not be ready till 9am.Very very poor service

We eent to Hunley Hall for a golfing break and didn't explore the surrounding area. A car is essential I suspect if anyone wants to venture to the village or Saltburn.
