Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst having repairs carried out on our house. It is the most well equipped b and b we have ever stayed in and the self serve breakfasts were delicious. It is ideally located in the centre of the village with a cafe , shops and pubs which serve meals nearby. Rail and bus transport is also on hand and there is lots to see and visit in beautiful Northumberland. It is extremely clean and the owner was very kind and helpful.

Excellent accommodation, clean, welcoming & well stocked for our needs. It is a brilliant location both for short strolls and driving further afield. We enjoyed great meals at General Havelock, the pub round the corner. Everyone very friendly.

Four of us stayed here for one night during our cycle trip along Hadrian’s Wall and were really impressed with the place. Great host who went out of his way to welcome us (provided drying room, restaurant tips and drive miles the next day to return something we had left behind). Very comfortable with excellent provisions for a DIY breakfast. The butcher next door did fab breakfast rolls too. Highly recommended - and it was such a good price

Travelled up for a wedding in Bardon Mill just down the road. First attracted by ideal location & very reasonable price. Rooms are clean, spacious and well stocked. Light breakfast is an understatement - there's a lot on offer, you just have to grab it yourself. Can't stress enough how Brian went the extra mile for us - not only did he allow us to check in early, but he also sent over a list of cabs for the journey home, and then even gave us a lift back to my car the next morning. Will definitely be returning next time we head northward!

Myself and a friend were on a bike tour stopping overnight in Hayden Bridge, The Reading rooms was great, they even supplied a bike lock! We needed a twin room, our room was excellent a big double and decent sized double, don’t be put off by the ‘light’ breakfast, supplies are plentiful, cereals, bread, fruit yoghurt etc. Loads of teas and coffees. We ate across the road, about 10 steps away, I am short though! A lovely meal served by great staff. I would without hesitation stay here again.

Beautiful, welcoming, clean with an abundance of thought into making your stay comfortable. It is clear the owners have a passion for their business as it’s the little details of homely touches in addition to the professionalism of the layouts, staff and the information given, not only throughout the property, but within your room, which most certainly makes me looking for dates to return. I frequent B&Bs and hotels often and it is very rare when I am surprised by the facilities, hospitality and professionalism given by such places. 5*

What sets a B&B/hotel aside from its competitors is the service offered, and the Reading Rooms is second to none. Excellent customer service provided by the welcoming host. I hope to stay again in the near future and experience more of lovely Hexham.

Excellent room, with all the possible amenities I would need. Soap, towels, and breakfast. Really good kitchen set up with a good variety of breakfast foods as well as plenty of fridge space for each room should you need it! The Reading Rooms did an excellent job in making me feel welcomed in this beautiful area.
