We only stayed one night - wish is had been longer. The landlady (wish we could remember her name) was so welcoming, friendly and cheerful. Did lots of little extra things to help which were much appreciated - thank you. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. Haydon Bridge is a pretty little village in lovely countryside and with... More

This was a lovely, homely B&B. Lindsay and Anne both made me feel very welcome and made a fabulous breakfast. The wifi was fast and the room spacious with a comfortable bed and spotless ensuite. I had a downstairs room which was warm and well appointed, including a hospitality tray. Lindsay was very helpful with suggestions of things to do... More

It's easy to run a place when all is well but you really see the face of service when things go a bit south. My wife and I were staying for three nights to hike and visit parts of Hadrian's Wall and during the first night the boiler failed, leaving the place without heat or hot water. They handled it... Shaftoe's is a fine B&B, close to the river in Haydon Bridge. The owners are very friendly and the rooms are clean and plenty large enough for us. Breakfast is fine too, but not fancy. Haydon Bridge is now quite quiet at night, as the bypass takes all of the traffic away fro the centre, so sleeping was undisturbed We... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at Shaftoes. I'm Sorry to hear that the 3 pubs which serve food in the village were not up to your standard, but as you said the town of Hexham, which is 7 miles away has a good selection of restaurants. I... Made a late booking during a road trip and was so glad we did. We were greeted by Lindsey, who was very welcoming and helpful, recommending places to eat. Made a very late booking for two double rooms at Shaftoes on our UK driving holiday and we were not disappointed. We were met, in fact waved down, enthusiastically at the door by our hostess who welcomed us and showed us our en-suited rooms - wonderful. Ours was on ground floor facing the road but was still quiet, warm and... More

We stayed here as part of our Hadrian's Wall Trail walk, it is a little off the Wall proper, but was fairly easy to bus to at the end of our walking day. Fantastic B and B. The owner and manager couldn't have been more welcoming. Lovely room and great breakfast. We were going to a wedding nearby but would be an ideal base for exploring Northumberland. Would certainly recommend.
