Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Comfy bed, hot shower and lovely breakfast. Standard B&B but what makes it memorable is Les, the host/owner. Les couldn’t do enough for us, accommodating us after he’d closed for the season, after we couldn’t make our sept trip. Top man, thank you for your stories and local knowledge. The frosty sunny morning we woke up to was also spectacular.

We had a warm welcome from Les our host, at this former telecomms station. It's a comfortable, quirky B&B, full of books and interesting objects, including a large train set layout! Our twin room at the top was warm and light, though a bit cramped for the 2 of us and luggage. The ensuite was good, toiletries and hair dryer provided. We'd pre-booked dinner and enjoyed a delicious meal, with alcoholic drinks available. Les is an entertaining host with his funny stories. Breakfast was also good, with fresh fruit and freshly cooked by Les.

A great welcome from Les to his interesting BnB close to the Hadrians Wall Path- a welcome sight to sore footed walkers. Communal dining with fellow walkers and a good range of bottled beers on offer. Isolated but with wonderful views over the surrounding hills

My husband wanted to visit Hadrian's Wall and, as we are both elderly and very immobile, I needed to find accommodation that could meet our needs. I spoke to Les, the owner of the house, and he assured us that a new annexe that he had built would suit our needs. This house is difficult to find, from the postcode, but Les answered the phone as soon as I rang and guided us in. The accommodation met our needs perfectly being entirely on one level and with a walk in shower. I had expected B and B so was surprised that we were offered a cooked supper. Our two days at this house were some of the best of our journey. All the other guests were walkers who had planned their stop along the wall. So supper was spent comparing notes with students, visitors from Australia, English long distance walkers - all interesting people who were happy to share their stories. We had a major problem with our car whilst we were there and I must commend Les and all the people he tried to contact to help us. The problem was resolved and we went on our merry way delighted with the two days we had spent alongside Hadrian's Wall. Thank you for an outstanding experience.

Do not come here if you are looking for a stereotypical B&B with a generic friendly host whose name you will eventually forget. You are staying with your uncle Les at his family home, he is cooking your dinner and your breakfast. You are enjoying his friendly welcoming chats as if you've always known him. He's family so you don't expect his home to be neatly organized with everything neatly tucked away, because it's his home and he's family. Our room was on the top floor, it was clean and comfortable with a kettle and tea/coffee in the room. The bathroom also clean and functional. It wasn't fancy but we had everything we needed and most importantly, like I said, it was clean. The location for walking the wall is great, you can see it from the path. The highlight of this stay is Les himself. When you meet, it's as if you are being reunited with family. He has a very entertaining wit, and his hospitality is genuine. We had a drink in our hands within 5 mins of our arrival. We enjoyed our drinks, a much needed rest and conversation with this unique host outside in the sunshine. Les took our meal orders via email the day before, our dinner was very nice and tasty. We both had steak pie, served with vegetables, mashed potatoes and fresh bread. He had a decent selection of wine and beers, which we enjoyed. Breakfast can be cooked or cold, with a selection of fruit and cereals, etc available. Les does all the cooking, cleaning and manages the place all by himself. Thank you so much Les! We hope to be back someday!

Les saved me on the Wall Trail. In Sept. 2022, without any prior reservations, I came to the UK and hiked the Wall. Even when everyone said, "Don't". I fly by the seat of my pants. I would have been sleeping on the ground, but Les answered his phone and took me in for two nights. I will always be grateful. The Old Repeater Station is historic, storied and offers basic, clean lodging, good food and drink with eclectic guests and Les holds court as host extraordinaire. Les is a quick wit with a sharp tongue. He loves to spar, but be gentle because he has a heart of gold. I would have stayed longer but I had to move on to The George. Even though I didn't get a ride in the Ferrari, I will always remember The Old Repeater Station. Thank You Les.
